Yes please, go through the whole series. I’ve watched it all but love hearing your input on it, and often catching things that I missed. Also, definitely a feel good show during these times.
Garak is a gift to this series really. Sometimes it's the shady characters that make this show interesting when it needs it. That's one of the things DS9 offers that none of the other shows do; part of the cast like Garak and Quark who are morally ambiguous and keep things interesting on an ongoing basis. None of the starships except maybe Voyager have characters like that who stick around and are interesting to try to read into.
DS9 is by far my favorite series. Tosk is both the name of the individual and his species, who is genetically engineered to be hunted by the upper echelon of his society.
I loved DS9 growing up! My family and I used to watch it weekly and talk about it all the time, so keep it up! Fancying taking another gander at that great show, loved every minute of this podcast
I'm probably alone on this, but I'd find it cool if DFF had Razorfist as a featured guest on one of their DS9 analyses, since he has his own DS9 series, and despite certain political differences, shares common viewpoints on several aspects of the show. Idk... I'd like it...
This is by far my favorite Star Trek series. It had the most over-arching story-lines with a defined development over the series of the station and all the people connected to it and the most well developed and interesting characters. Besides a few movies I've never bothered with and the animated series, I've watched the entire Star trek franchise up to Enterprise. After seeing four or five episodes of that, that is where Star Trek ended for me. I have no interest in anything beyond Voyager.
I dig this. I like Bashir, whereas i think Jadzia is unarguably the worst character in the show. Garak is my favorite character, so well acted. Just finished watching the entirety of DS9 for the first time so i was really craving more content related to it thanks.
DS9 is all about the 'side characters', generally all the characters get their stories fleshed out throughout the series and there isn't really a particular focus on any 'main characters' like in other iterations of star trek.
This really isn't so. It's like other Star Trek shows where it's the "senior officers" who are always doing things. Sure, there's more side stories than other shows, but there certainly are the main characters that get focused on.
Goddamnit Paul. You must watch a lot of Keeping up with the Kardashian's, because holy fuck, you said Kardashians instead of Cardassians about 100 times. Very very cringey. Other than that this was great.
DS9 is the best of the Star Trek franchise. It had the best characters. Well, until Worf joined the crew and every episode with him was a cringe fest. Other than that, it was great.
Paul said on highdeology that he wanted to merge a lot of the cinema for cynics stuff to DFF because he doesn't want to dedicate his time to maintaining a whole other channel.
Not sure if any of you have already seen it yet, but I highly recommend Babylon 5. As great as DS9 is, I have to rank B5 as the superior iteration of the two series' shared "idea" (referring to the whole stolen idea controversy). Especially seasons 2-4, it reaches narrative heights far more consistently than DS9. Perhaps even more so than DS9, the first season is a slog (there are maybe 6 plot/character essential episodes, and the rest can be ignored, if you absolutely can't stand it), but it picks up by the last couple episodes and from there it's top notch storytelling almost all the way through. DS9 often gets a lot of credit for its serialized (as opposed to episodic) structure, but B5 did it almost from the start. JMS has referred to B5 as a "novel for television", with a distinct five season structure with a story that has clear arcs, and it definitely shines through. Both are great shows, and if you love DS9, I can almost guarantee you'll love B5.
Back when Sci Fi channel was awesome (and it was actually "Sci Fi"). MST3K, Farscape, the Stargates, BSG...The Expanse is such a great show (thank galactus for Amazon).
Watching the first season, the effects are absolutely embarrassing, but there is some incremental improvement each season to the point they become passable, and by the second season on you're so into the story you grow less aware of the mid-90s UPN-budget effects. It really speaks to the strength of the writing and (much) of the acting that the show can appear so dated and yet feel so contemporary.
Even if you were to talk about a show I'm seriously invested in, it'd be a chore to listen to an entire season or more of plain review. Probably the only thing I won't be watching on this channel, rest is great.
Never understood star trek fandom, put a big forehead on guy=boom new alien species. And i vaguely remember story being combination of mexican telenovel and political party agitation material.
with each new episode, this series gets worse and worse... In the almost entire decade i've used this account, i've never un-subbed ANYONE but i'm really thinking hard about doing it now
It's got the best first episode probably and it's more consistent than any other trek but fantastic is a bit much, I love 'Odo in the friendzone' but boy did it go on for a bit long. Honestly each series has a lot of highs and lows, even with Voyager at least there was surreal comedy in the either the nazi or antihuman hologram monologues taking the series into 'what drug was this written on and I need some of it' territory. Voyager is just weird there was also the episode where it focused on a dupe of the voyager, which wasted away horrifically, this was visually expressed in everyone appearing to have the black plague. What was the ultimate point of that episode? There wasn't one because the real voyager was unaffected, which demonstrates how some episodes are just pointless like that, I couldn't stand watching those grotesqueries.
I don't even care about Star Trek. i just like hearing you guys talk.
Hopefully, 5 years later they can get to season 2.
After 7 seasons you won’t look at the doctor the same ever again.
I'd be happy to see you guys do the whole series. DS9's fantastic!
*"Cardassians are very Klingon-Like"*
No Paul.
He’s not too familiar with DS9. He’s learning.
Yes please, go through the whole series. I’ve watched it all but love hearing your input on it, and often catching things that I missed. Also, definitely a feel good show during these times.

I thought I had waltzed onto Razorfist's channel by mistake.
taggsmcgee My thoughts exactly.
Quark is the best character in all of Star Trek.
DS9 is probably my favorite show, so why not combine my favorite podcast with my favorite show? Moar pls
keep going in the future. I love your insights into the deeper moral ambiguities of the different episodes.
DS9 is by far my favorite series. Tosk is both the name of the individual and his species, who is genetically engineered to be hunted by the upper echelon of his society.
I love DS9 my favorite Star Trek Series, enjoying your guys analysis. Keep building. Peace.
More please.
I don't know much about star trek but more DFF? Sign me the fuck up!
I can understand finding Bashir annoying, but comparing him to Weasly, that's way to harsh, nothing can compare to crusher NOTHING!
I loved DS9 growing up! My family and I used to watch it weekly and talk about it all the time, so keep it up! Fancying taking another gander at that great show, loved every minute of this podcast
This was EXCELLENT good job guys✌️🤠
Want more please. I love hearing you guys talking about characters and stories.
This is really cool. I never gave a shit about star trek but this is like an intro to star track while hanging out with Paul & TJ. Fucking dope.
I'm digging it. Im pretty keen to use this as a rewatch podcast as ive not watched DS9 in ages.

definitely not alone; it's an interesting series to analyze and Razorfist + Terran also offer some great insight into the show's production
Probably not gonna happen, they're not really fans of razorfist
that's a shame, but I think it could work if they keep the discussion about DS9 only
I get what you’re saying but no thanks. Razorfist sucks.
I really liked this episode. I love DS9. I like the idea of you guys talking about shows.
Finally we see Scotty in the same place as Odo.
Keep doing it!! I love DS9!
Please do more than just one season people like this
I really do like this series. I hope you get to the Dominion War.

Think you should give it another chance, first season or two are shiiiiiiite but it dose pick up a lot near the end.
I dig this. I like Bashir, whereas i think Jadzia is unarguably the worst character in the show. Garak is my favorite character, so well acted. Just finished watching the entirety of DS9 for the first time so i was really craving more content related to it thanks.
Haven't watched in years all i remember is loving gul Dukat
RoflWaffle Si Read the books if you’re Jonesing for more.
I found that the strongest characters were Quark and Garak. Kinda bad when side characters show up everyone else :P

DS9 is the best star trek series
Loved it. More please. :D.
Paul keeps calling the Cardassians Kardashians instead XD
Please keep doing this.
Please keep going with these.
I love how you keep saying kardashians. I guess with this video you are helping make sure everyone is keeping up with the kardashians
Goddamnit Paul. You must watch a lot of Keeping up with the Kardashian's, because holy fuck, you said Kardashians instead of Cardassians about 100 times. Very very cringey. Other than that this was great.
This is really great. Nice to chill and listen to. Would you do all the seasons?
Yes! More of this please!
DS9 is the best of the Star Trek franchise. It had the best characters. Well, until Worf joined the crew and every episode with him was a cringe fest. Other than that, it was great.
Let's be honest Quark is ostensibly the best character by a country mile.
I wonder if they told Paul the reason behind Bashir's behavior?
Deep Space Fried!
Star trek? Ring me up Scotty!
Something something lemon meringue
I love these counterpointless things. Very entertaining! Unrelated, but can you guys do a DFF on Joseph Mengele or Osama Binladin?
Elim garak. The most interesting alien
Did anyone else keep hearing "Kardashians" from Paul?
Revive the series!
It's Quark not cork Paul.
Can you guys please do Babylon 5 eventually? I enjoy it as much as ds9 if not more
This is DS9 propaganda, i like it
Shouldn't this be on cinema for cynics?
Kralc Nora Yup
And forerunner and rageholic
Bashir is probably my favorite character in DS9... you dont know shit about ds9 anyways paul
Paul said on highdeology that he wanted to merge a lot of the cinema for cynics stuff to DFF because he doesn't want to dedicate his time to maintaining a whole other channel.

Babylon 5 is so much better all around! I absolutely recommend it over ds9 anyday
Too bad you can't get a good looking copy of B5 anywhere. They fucked up when making the DVDs and the already meh graphics look godawful now.

Which Star Trek series is ur fav, people of the internet?
More pleeeeease!
Got in here at one like. Jesus.
They are fat. They are right.
Not Deep Fat Fried. Dafuq?
So I guess this like cinema for cynics is regrettably dead...
"Cardassians" is a terrible name.
DS9 season 1 is great because it has the worst episode in all of Star Trek: Move Along Home
Daniel Tahsk
kardashians
Posted to wrong channel or what?
Not interested in startek stuff.
I listened in for about 10 minutes but I'm just not into star trek enough
Even if you were to talk about a show I'm seriously invested in, it'd be a chore to listen to an entire season or more of plain review. Probably the only thing I won't be watching on this channel, rest is great.
Never understood star trek fandom, put a big forehead on guy=boom new alien species. And i vaguely remember story being combination of mexican telenovel and political party agitation material.
Click bait

You're taking the most boring of all star trek series, and making it even more boring.
The Bashir character is ok, but the actor is embarrasingly bad.
Who the hell cares about Star Trek enough to watch 3 hours of this? 😡 Stop your scamming situation and talk about Avengers already.
DS9 is a fantastic show.

I do :(
STAR TREK IS BORING MAKE GOOD CONTENT PLZ
