Good video. One suggestion - when torquing the wheel bolts, use a crisscross star pattern instead of going around in a circle. Helps ensure the wheel and rotor are properly aligned.
Best video out of all the ones I watched, good extra detail on the little thing like gray trim in the truck, plus the torque setting, etc. 2 thumbs up!
That top trick to tighten German tighten. The top part. Thank you for showing that if I didn't fix cars I'd be wondering what part I'd need and where to buy it and how to do it .
Good video. 👍 will be doing in the street seeing dealership has been out of the question since 2004 you can fix all bmw problems at home. Next good video I'd watch is how to remove the intake manifol in engine bay and rig everything so you can remove everything again so you can always get to starter after that the bleeding procedure then removing all suspension parts and paying for alignment. Good video
Very good information, but please don’t suggest to people to work under a car with dangerous support like that. You were right to chock both sides of the front wheel. If you can, avoid using scissor jacks for anything but an emergency tire change, they have very little sideways stability. Use a trolley Jack under the body of the diff (not the back cover, as you could damage it). Jack up the car and place a pair of Jack stands under the rear lifting pads ( the ones you put your emergency scissor Jack under). Lower the trolley Jack to rest the car on these. Now you can work on the car safely and use the trolley Jack to compress the suspension once the shock is in place.
Hi, I am having a problem fitting my rear shock once I fit the bump stopper and cover to the shock, the top of the shock doesn't show enough thread to be able to tighten on the top mount bolt once installed what am I doing wrong?
I have a question, i hit a pothole on both my passenger wheels and front tire is bent but the passenger side is low than the drivers side. What could be the problem?
My problem was finding the cheapest yellow pads and shock was online the yellow pads are going for 27.23 on ebay for 2 if anyone can beat that let me know .

You just saved me $400 in labor just to do the rear. This is easy.

Nicely explained with details on how parts are put together, most other videos are missing these details.
To the point and great camera angles with plenty of details 👌
thanks 👍
Excellent video! Gives me the confidence to do this myself to see you through it. thanks!

did you get the correct shocks for your car? it seems that it’s too short
I want to do this job... on my 2010 e90 320d... same procedure?
Thank you sir.
How do you know if the wheel hub is ride height? Im confused
How do you know when the car is at “ride hight” at 8:20
Try to line the car up (by jacking it up) with the other 3 wheels, till it looks about level.. “ride hight” as meant by the Chinese dude
I have a question, i hit a pothole on both my passenger wheels and front tire is bent but the passenger side is low than the drivers side. What could be the problem?
Sound like out of alignment and maybe flat tire.
I would file a claim to the city :) jk
Check ‘level sensors’.
One in Left-front and Right-rear.
Located under the car.
28 torque pound for bottom bolt for anyone wondering.
Wish you had a video on the front shocks.
The front struts are much more difficult to replace. The job is still in the DIY category but expect like 3+ hours per side.
@@rschneid1996 I ordered the heavy-duty tools and did the fronts about 3 hrs per side was about what I found.
When you almost droppped the damper, I felt the fear.
Do you need to replace bottom rubber piece when replacing shocks? Lower mount.
I did a video on it but no you dont! but you really wont know until you check
@@bal4cars I decided to change everything, the bottom shoe had a crack and glad I had ordered that part. Nice video and very detailed. Thanks
