Welllllllll... I'm 36 (youngest in my class) and we're learning this now! And I agree, not too complicated, but what a workout!! Holy moly! Go Beth Magner and the Cincinnati JCC!!! Broadway here we come! ;-)
I wasn't going to be so positive about this- then i read your post saying this was a non dancer, non tapper class. Have to say (as an ex dancer) that your 'non tapper' class can faithfully say they ARE tappers. This is good- an excellent base for progression- and for 2 classes....awsome!! Keep up the good work- and don't be bothered by haters!!!! x
Yeah, we just learned this in class. My teacher (Jon Engstrom) was in the original cast, and directs/choreographs this show all the time. Some things were a little off as far as the port de bras, but overall great job. I can't imagine learning this in just 2 classes.
I wouldn't worry too much about tengagedtom's remarks. UA-cam is full of tossers who make negative remarks about everything to make themselves feel better. My tap class is about on par with yours, and we all watched your routine and loved the energy of the class and the routine. We are trying to get our teacher to get interested in similar coreography. Loved it :)
he's absolutely right. 8 Double, 4 Triple, 4 Wing, traveling. I study with the assistant choreographer to the man who was the dance captian in the OBC.
Hey--thanks for posting this publicly, I need to get this in my body and teach it to my tappers. What is the floor that you are dancing on? Is it marly?
Hi. Nice job guys. I just wanted to ask where you bought that specific version of the song. I have been trying to find it without the tapping but I cannot. Thanks.
haha no, our instructor who you can't see on screen had an issue with her camera, which we use to view and critique. the person on the side was just observing the class as a student.
Help, I am choreographing this production this for our competitive dance team. Were can I find this song WITHOUT the tap sounds....I'm desperate. Great Job btw to all of you. Very inspirational.
i was about to say the same thing.... don't forget that in the musical this song took place at an audition.... meaning they just got taught the dance number... so not everything is going to be perfect
I did tap for about 5 years (danced for a total of seven) and then stopped dancing for 10 years and now I'm picking it back up for a show that I'm currently working on in college. It's like riding a bicycle.
I know this was still in the making and I'm impressed, but I saw a peformance tonight and this dance with similar and sometimes even the exact same steps and that dance included 12 years olds in it. Honestly a bit disappointed considering they had way more complicated steps and movement in theirs.
Leave me alone ._. This is the "actual" 42nd street opening, as used in the Broadway production. If you saw a more "advanced" version, that's great. But it wasn't the original stage choreography.
Wow I thought at the beginning I was gunna be really simple but I see now you were just biding your time. Great routine!!!!
i like it, its easier then my tap dance for my recital we had to do turns and 18 wings at the end it was killer
Wow, guys, wow! You have made me cry! Congratulations and never lose your passion!
I loved hearing "Holy Mother of God" at the end. That's how I feel just watching. Great job!

Love this! For non-dancers you did a fabulous job!! I dance, but not tap, and I never pull this off in 2 class periods! So awesome. Great work!! =)
WHOA! This is absolutely amazing! I love 42nd Street. Keep on doing what your doing, because tap dancing is brilliant. 10/10!

Wheres the rest of the cast? It usually has like 30 dancers.

I'm doing a short piece to this song in a community play. I think your footwork and sound are great. Wish me luck.

Love the choreography! Good job!!! :)
Can you post the soundtrack please?
You cut out the Dancer with the Silver Tap Shoes. She has the most solid form.
I live in NZ where we do not have a fetish about errors but we do like fizz and steam (watch a haka sometime) - and you people did beautifully.
Not bad for two rehearsals! It took us a month to learn that and we were all dancers. Your teacher must be pretty good.
Where can you find the music
Well done!!!
Great Job! Really great!
So amazing! Gonna take up tap dancing next year! :)
What's this sound track called
Excellent dancing.
