The idea that Conor Gallagher would fix anything is laughable, and that's on Southgate for sure. But players must be accountable too.

We have seen this on many occasions in the past, I remember Barnes and Beardsley playing fantastically at Liverpool in the 87/88 season. However, when they went to the Euros that year with England did nothing and we lost every game. It is the England football team disease.

What a contrast with the performance of Georgia against Portugal last night. Georgia were brilliant- tactically perfect, aggressive, broke away with speed, skill and determination. A 4-4-2 formation, defended deeply, never more than 10 yards between the back line and midfield. Aggressive pressure on the man with the ball. Result- an impenetrable defensive wall. Skilful breakaway attacking at speed. No tippy- tappy football. A joy to watch! Simple tactics, perfectly deployed. That left hand side needs to be unlocked. Start Gordon on the left or play Saka at LWB so you can fit Palmer in. Anthony Gordon was screaming for the ball when he came on. For the criticism Southgate is getting - and it is just by the way - players like Foden, Kane, Bellingham are not showing for the ball. I think Mainoo has to play as he did very well, Palmer and Gordon should play. Here's an unpopular opinion, Kane should be dropped. He looks way off it.
You are spot on. However, Gareth continues to put those players on the pitch that you mention. How about he shows a little bit of grit and STARTS Palmer/Mainoo/Gordon. Bringing on Gordon on with just 1 minute left is despicable.

It was clear last night that only a few players have brought in their club form with them. Gordon and Palmer showed it but had only 20 minutes on the pitch between them. However several out club form players have brought this with them Kane, Trippier and Arnold Bellingham is for some reason hopeless he was passing to Slovenia last night. Rice and Bakaya are a bit off I suspect their hard season chasing Man City has taken its toll. I found out the other day from a Talksport pundit, that they could have taken Chilwell as he is over his injury and he was clearly saying that Southgate's decision to take Shaw was rather poor one. He may be fit (Shaw) for some matches but he will not be match fit so it's not going to work.

That left hand side needs to be unlocked. Start Gordon on the left or play Saka at LWB so you can fit Palmer in. England will play better against better opposition where there is more space for them to play. You don’t need to perfect or define THE starting lineup. If the opposition is weak, play a team to unlock a low block. Palmer and Mainoo were perfect for Slovenia but Southgate can’t even puff his chest out against them smh
