They cast Lloyd also cuz John Lasseter was a huge fan of the History documentary series Modern Marvels (where Lloyd narrates every episode), and that he'd record a ton of episodes on his DVR and watch him on his treadmill.
This is very unsual to see how people actually speak with the voices of cars we used to go crazy of in our childhood and still keep them adored and the best in our heads. And I sort of noticed that many of voice actors are very close to their characters.
I want to meet these guys even though it's so sad that Katherine Helmond passed away last year from Alzheimer's Disease complications. Did you know that she was an only child just like me? I ❤ voice acting even though I plan to read "🚗s 2️⃣" aloud to the children I see at work who are part of my audience for the storytime activity as long as their families are present at all times. Rock on, voice actors! 👏🏻

Owen NAILED it as the voice of Lightning, and I’m glad Larry the Cable Guy was casted as the voice of Mater. Just like Mater, Larry the Cable Guy is HILARIOUS.
