It's funny you look at Larry the Cable Guy and think he's a HUGE celebrity and no doubt he is but you can also see he's really just a normal humble guy.
I can definitely see how compared to a lot of the other people that voice act for Pixar, he can feel really small. He’s definitely a household name, but not the same kind of household name as these other guys
He’s from Nebraska. That’s how we are 💕 we don’t take anything for granted and appreciate the things we are given regardless of the success. We are very humble people.
And he actually is a real cool guy met him in passing at a loves truck stop and he asked for a cigarette lol he said his wife’s making him quit so I gladly jumped at the opportunity and I’m glad I did he’s a stand up type of guy.

I love how he also looks at the people BEHIND the camera as he's telling his story, he wants EVERYONE to be a part of it. What a great guy.
This is correct, Mater seemed to actually become the most beloved character in the film series. Even going on to star in a few short films.
He's quoted more than any other character in those movies
That's funny you say that considering that Cars 2 didn't do too well. Evidently, Mater is better as a side character, not a protagonist, and Cars 2 definitely proved that. Larry still did a great job on the film but people hated it for some reason.

Well then you might be surprised to find out that the entire “Larry the Cable Guy” persona is a gimmick he does. He doesn’t have a country accent or any of that.
He’s from Maine😂 he didn’t even start talking in an accent until he moved to florida in his teens and adapted to the way they speak there lol

He made Mater come to life, and so many little Southern boys finally had a character they could relate too.
This is a great example of a real man, right here. Absolute appreciation for the opportunity, not afraid to essentially say " Yea, I got this amazing opportunity, and I cried from being so overwhelmed, so invested, so happy that my carrier has allowed this, etc."
Just the way he talks and appreciates everything, all while not giving a damn that he's emotionally invested... It is truly something that I, and hope others, strive for. God bless you, Daniel "Larry the Cable Guy" Whitney. You're a fantastic person.

As a mother of a 3 year old we watch cars 100 times a day it never gets old. Mater is my favourite and just has that personality where he doesn’t care what people think and just continues to be his true self. No one could of done Mater better then Larry.
Shit got to me. Makes me happy that he's overjoyed with happiness that it makes him emotional.

You can tell he worked hard for a long time being a Comedian and he finally got a super huge break by being the most funniest character in one huge billion dollar disney movie franchise all by his hilarious voice. To see him cry happy is fucking heartfelt, most humble guy ever on earth.

I've always wondered what Larry was like out of character, and after seeing this video and the one about his fake accent, I'm actually humbled by his real-life self (Dan Whitney).
Hes so humble he addresses and adds both Graham and everyone behind the camera to the conversation when he talks. Most people with his status dont even see those people as anything other than equipment lol.

I’ve never been the biggest fan of Larry the cable guy (didn’t dislike him or anything) but this really gave me a huge smile and much more appreciation for him and his emotional ride through all of this.
Of all the fame he has gotten, which he worked hard for, he is famous yet humble and appreciative til this day. That is my type of person. He deserves all the accolades.

Not a huge fan of his comedy, but this interview made me a fan of who he is. So impressed.
I live in pretty small town. Each year we would have all the businesses get together and do a benefit gokart race to help the high school out. CARS was huge at the time so I painted my gokart up like Lightning McQueen. The kids loved it. On the third year I took an old lawn tractor and made it look like Mater and then took and made about 6 little cars to pull behind it. I pulled the kids around before the races and during breaks. It was a carnival like atmosphere and they were lined up for the rides. I didn't charge anything but I had to have my wife buy a roll of tickets at WalMart and then tell the children "one ticket, one ride" because they just wouldn't get out of the cars to let the next kids ride. We gave them the tickets for free. All of them wanted pictures sitting in Mater and Lightning McQueen and I made sure to let them and even encouraged them to sit in and on them. The event fell apart about 8 or 9 years ago. Just a couple of days ago I was out at my old shop that I now rent to someone and saw that Mater lawn tractor setting in the bushes. I should really get it out and running again.
There’s this old rusty tow truck in my town every time I drive by it I think of mater and man he brought the character to life this one of my favorite animated movies

Thank you so much for sharing this! My dream of meeting Larry The Cable Guy came true back in 2009 when I went to his show at the Harris Rincon casino. He was so kind and down to earth, and when I was about to leave the spot where I had my meat and greet with him to go enjoy his show, I asked him for a fan hug. He laughed and said, “Well, I can always do those“, and he gave one to me.
So nice to see a dude that’s not embarrassed or afraid to cry.
Cars made my childhood it’s so great to know he cares this much can’t fake that

Mater is my favorite character in Pixar. Not my favorite movie, it was still a great movie series, but not my top favs. Still, Mater made the cars series.
