- Mischa Maisky plays Bach's 3rd Solo Cello Suite
Dynamic, elegant, energetic and uplifting. This suite belongs to some of the most frequently performed and recognisable solo cello compositions ever written. “Cello Suite No.3 in C Major” was composed during the period 1717-23 by Johann Sebastian Bach. Mischa Maisky recorded the complete cycle in 1986. The tone of the 3rd suite is C Major. Bach Works Catalog number is BWV 1009. (Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis)

Yesterday I put on my earphones when I hitched a taxi to visit my wife's grandma in hospital, who's been very sick for more than a month. I felt exactly what you said when Cello Suite No.3 started flowed into my ears, though what I listened to was played by another musician.

When playing or listening to Bach, all is right with the world for those few precious moments.
That may sound corny but its soooo true.
I don't profess to be a classical music expert, I only know what I like. I've heard most of the 'recommended' versions but this for me shows tenderness and emotion that the others lack
Just 'Mischa Maisky'.........I have heard lots of other musicians but Mischa's has soul and warmth.
You can see his passion transporting him to another world.

It is not weird, it's just his personalities on bowing, we all have different bowing techniques

His bowing is not weird. Actually, given you have mastered the bow technique, no bowing is ever going to "feel" weird. The mastery he has allows him to choose the best bowing ever according to what the music calls for, without the need to do what is "comfortable" or "easier". That's why he is so great!

I listened to this one with the score opened and used FL Studio Tempo tapper, and it seems to be around 33~35 bpm
