Man what I'd give to go back to the 80s to see the glory days of Gi Joe. YO JO!
As a kid I sort of missed the first the few years of GI Joes as other toylines took precedence. Things took a turn once the 1988 Tiger Force came out. Being able to pick up Flynt, Duke, Roadbock, Tripwire, and Bazooka at the store was awesome. I got in heavy and my random Zartan, Cobra Soldier, and Mutt finally got some company. Plus there was a new Destro and Storm Shadow in 88.
I remember that summer trying to track down old Joes at garage sales, and I was able to snag a Cobra Commander, the twins, and some others. Strangely, old vehicles were actually easier to find second hand (Rattler, Conquest, Tomahawk-just to name a few-completely intact, and often for only a few bucks). Never did find many of the coveted early characters though-Snake Eyes, Shipwreck, Baroness, the Drednoks, etc. Oh well. I had so much fun in the back yard th3 next couple years. Many thanks to Michael, 3D Joes, and other passionate cats out there sharing the love.
Thanks, Yo Joe!
The best toy line ever. Ever!
Yo Joe!!
With Scarlett, i take some sticky tack and put it on her foot and then place her on a stand using the sticky tack to hold her up. I've also found that smalljoes stands can be too tight in the foot, and if the figure falls just a foot, it will break the peg off into the foot. I use iain Sanderson stands for early 1980's joes in my collection and small joes stands with my late 1980's-early 1990's vintage & the modern o-ring figures (convention, and post 1994 vintage era joes). I also will sand the smalljoes stands down & around to make the peg fit better. Great collection brother.....beautiful collection.
Loved this. I was naming them all before you did. The things you remember…
Did you do a Cobra shelf? That would be rad!
I dig this display for your Joes. It looks like a different type of school photo set up.
Class of '82-93! :D
Ace came with the Sky Striker. I remember he had a parachute that as a kid I could never fold it properly :D I had many of them. Stalker with his kayak and it had a brown machine gun on it. Most of them from the Sunbow version
I never had but I loved Gung-ho and roadblock. They were just massive in the cartoon!
If you guys still love the cartoon you can watch it for free as Hasbro /thats the name of the channel/ streams it 24/7.
My dad had a ton of Gijoe figures and he gave them all to me I have like 64 in my bedroom it is awesome
God bless him.
😂
thanks michael , we never had the money to get G I Joe figures, but still got a few on birthdays, thanks for letting me relive those days.
Great video! I like to play this in the background while I'm doing chores around the house. Soothing
For someone who grew up with G.I. Joe in the 80's and later served enlisted in the Marines and Air Force, to eventually become a commissioned officer in the Army, this channel is unbelievably satisfying. It's like a condensed perspective of who I am and why I became who I am. I can't wait to build my own G.I. Joe diorama just like this.
Same here, I went from collecting gi joe's to joining the Marine Corps.....Semper Fi Tuefelhunden
Also same cept i was army ranger cprl.96 to 2003
Wow
I played with G.I. Joe action figures, as a child, and I always dreamed of serving in the U.S.N and U.S.A, and upon HS graduation, I fulfilled my dream...
"Yo Joe!!!"
Maybe it would have been easier to stand them up if you started from the back? Just a thought. Great collection
That's what I usually do but I didn't want to work through the years backwards for this video.
This layout reminds me of my H.S. senior class picture where everyone in the graduating class stood together.
Absolutely loving your G.I.Joe videos. Recently unboxed all my old Joes, and have been restringing them and cleaning while watching your vids. You got me so pumped.
Thank you. Yo Joe!
Fantastic display; thanks for sharing. I got to see a lot of Joe’s that I didn’t even know existed, & appreciate you taking us on this journey. 😎👍
Nice to see. Reminds me of the 80s. Thanks.
Hey pal, I think it’s about time you gave Lisa Whelchel as well as the producers of her show on MeTV a call
Wow That's Impressive I had Over 80 action figures for G.I..Joe but what Impressed me the most you can see in the left the Collection COPS I had Them There was One That was A Gangster with a Pink Suit had A Guitar Case With A Tommygun and his Chest would pop open had two guns. Great trip down memory lane 👍.
Nice re organization!
Thanks!
One of my best memories was visiting England in 1989, and finding most of the 1986 lineup under "action force, a real international hero"(🤮).
I spent every last pound i could dig up...
I'm from UK and bought one every week with my pocket money I even had the cobra boat best figure's ever loved them my back garden was a entire war zone I made bases out of everything haha I can't believe myself though when I got to about 15 sixteen I sold everything to fund my aggressive skating to get new skates even though I loved skating I wish I could go back and tell myself not to sell my action force g I Joe's .....gutted I don't have them anymore but I still got storm shadow and Duke and cobra commander in action man size in box at my mum's loft lol
Mainframe was my favorite but because his color scheme closely resembled Stringfellow Hawkes from Airwolf 😶
You are a true GI Joe Collector! 👍👍
I never collected GIJ's when I was a kid, always just Star Wars but dang these look cool! I had no idea there were so many, and from the comments these are just the good guys?? Also one of your figures didn't have peg holes - I use a small hand held drill to make a foot peg holes for the ones without them or improperly sized - not sure if they are the same plastic as Star Wars / Dr Who figures (or if it's these are made of the kind that easily splits in which case I wouldn't try) but could correct that without much trouble! The info you give on them - is that all from the cartoon series, comics, card back info or what? It's amazing dude!
The info is collected from all the sources you mentioned. Yup, that's just the good guys. Plenty of Cobras too. Drilling a hole in Scarlett's foot might cause cracking or breaking since it's a harder plastic than Star Wars figures.
Awesome display!! I miss this line...I had most of these as well, and in great shape! Wish I would have kept them.
Thanks!
I'm so jealous.. Great collection man! Brings back memories.
Imagine the playtime with these of course u do 👍🏽
Thanks for this video. Inspiration for my Sunday. Thanks for all that you do for the hobby!
Michael Mercy, YOU’RE THE MAN!!
Awesome 😎 collection!
Yo Joe!!
No heavy duty! But great collection took me back I had so many of those guys.
My collection is in that attic somewhere...probably haven't seen it in 30 years. I had most the figures through 86, don't recognize the names or figures from 87 on. I remember as a kid thinking they were getting kind of fruity and lost interest. Started buying comics instead I guess.
Great video! Would you please post the shelf dimensions? Knowing is half the battle.
Awesome video!!! I love it great job!!!👍
Thanks Campbell! 😁
Awesome collection and great video, thanks for sharing
Thank you. Cheers.
Man I was born in 2003 and my papa collected gi joes and it’s crazy to think he gave me 1982 joes that’s crazy to me
My two favorite collections was Gi Joe's and Hemans, Master of the Universe
A-ha! Your are Canadian… and that's awesome! Yo Joe!
Lineman pliers, hammer, cutters, and Gi Joe base fixer lol
These are so cool
AWESOME!
Ok some amazing ability to set all those up and not knock one over! Good job! Loved the video.😁
Two questions, so how many are you missing to having every Joe made?
Also how often do you have to dust your loose collection? Thanks
Bill
Thanks Bill! It's a lot like that old board game Operation. :D I have no idea how many I'm missing. Dusting isn't a problem for this room, and beside I enjoy doing it.
Looks great. I do the same type of layered tier displaying for my figure collections. Sure does create a lot more space per shelving unit plus it just looks awesome as a display. I just finished the first 3 videos of my overall collection room. I would love to hear what you think about them. Keep up the great collections! Doc Johnson
Awsome set up there, i don't own any of the the old figures, most of my collection is 25th anniversary, witch is pretty cool to have, but something about those older figs man hahaha, i gotta get some, maybe just a few man haha
Thank you for the video! Amazing! Have you the Cobra figures as well displayed? I searched in your videos but I couldn’t see anything about the bad guys. Cheeers
Thank you. No, I haven’t done the Cobras yet.
I used to have as many as you as a kid, now I have like 5
Good stuff man. I'm jealous but my transformer collection makes me feel better
Phantom X-19 Ghostrider I think? Anyways I love your collection brother!
Have you filled that back row? I'd love to see an update.
Dig the collection and really dig the background music @ 2min mark! Yours?
Can you do this same video but with the Cobra shelf?
You can't set them up properly and allow seeing all of them. I'm gonna have to ask you to pack them up and ship them to me ASAP so I can show you how. :)
Very nice collection btw. I was born in 72 so I hit the collecting phase at the perfect time.
Just put poster puddy on the bottom of their feet and on any accessories you don't want to lose.
You have a majority of the Joes from the good old days, but I was surprised to not see BACKSTOP, HARD TOP, and PAYLOAD from 1987. Do you have them in their vehicles, or are they just on the " I'm missing them" list?
Just never had a desire to get any of them.
@@MichaelMercy Were you aware that BACK-STOP is from Montreal, Quebec, Canada?
full force action force
Great video but no Budo?
Great setup!
Why storm shadow with all the "good guys" Awesome collection brother
Paul Knapp storm shadow ver.2 with the snow camo was a good guy now. On his file card it said he joined the Joes.
What if you spray paint the stairs a matte black?
I have my Joes displayed similarly and am all too familiar with the “domino effect” you mention.
I have a Red Star crotch sitting in a box that I will never use as I only collect through ‘89. It probably would not be worth the shipping hassle to get it to you in Canada or I would gladly donate it to your collection.
Thansk Jakob! Yeah you're right, shipping would probably cost as much as a whole new Red Star. Thanks for the thought though! :D
Awesome display :-)
Thanks Ian! Glad you enjoyed it. Yo Joe!
Hie do you have Hydro Viper figure of Gijoe ? He is a diver in deep ocean ?
I had most of these but my dad gave them away. 😂 I'm still angry about it.
🍻🇨🇦
Thx for the memories
Thank you, have a nice day.
Destro?
you have the best collection on youtube... do you own any hot toys
Thanks! I have a few.
Hello, I want to start collecting gijoe, which vintage line do you recommend?
The one you love.
Once you said visionaries I sub your channel😂😂😂
Urgh…..I had soooo much of them and vehicles ….
This collection was my life in the 80s. This made my day.
Thanks Ramiro! Yo Joe!
I feel like this collection was all in my toy box.... along with every other toy you have in your impossible collection!! Well done man.
I was born in the 2 thousands and i want all these figs
Couldn’t agree more .. had all the comics as well .. was basically a catalog for new figures
Man you have some steady hands and patience. I would have been knocking over Joe's left and right trying your way. I would have started with the back row and worked my way forward to be safe lol
Thanks! That's how I usually do it but I wanted to go in order of year this time.
combining domino day with gijoe
It actually took over 43 takes cus he kept knocking down one which then have a domino effect. Jk awesome video
Need to do all your Cobra now! 👍🏾
Haha, I don't have as many vintage Cobras.
Wow now that’s a surprise!
agreed. I would have all cobra lol
I could watch this 10 times and just get lost in nostalgia.
This is the only video ive ever seen where every joe is shown in order of release. Not a big g.i. joe fan myself , but certainly interresting to see them all in one video. Good stuff.
Thanks! That's why I started at the bottom.
CRAZY LEGS! I thought i dreamed him up. Glad to know I"m not crazy!
Started video with my OCD shouting ‘Michael, start from the back! THE BACK!’ Ended video chilled as all get out and amazed. Well done, sir. I do hope your hands weren’t injured after seven rows of cramping ASMR goodness ;)
Maybe you should try some Bluetack (Posterputty for ones like Scarlett to stick them to their stands.
Skidmark drove the desert fox. Ghost rider was phantom driver. Just a friendly fyi. Thanks for shout out. I noticed you need dodger and crazy leg weapons. I have them for you and muskrat gun and unbroken redstar crotch
That would be awesome! Thanks Rob! Also missing the mic and mask from Avalanche and Blaster. I've already forgotten the Phantom pilot's name. Maybe it'll say in his first appearance in Marvel GI Joe issue #76. Hmmm... ;-D
@@MichaelMercy i wish i had a blaster and avalanche mask and mic for ya. If youre ever down my way you are more than welcome to come see my collection and take any spare pieces figs and vehicles you need or want
I started this video and said "No way that I watch 51 minutes of MM organizing GI Joes". That was 52 minutes ago... Thanks for the vid.
hahahaha... true dat!
Absolutely love these Joe videos. What a blast from the past. Takes me right back to the digging up my dad's vegetable garden and making battlefields with kids from my street, much to my dad's dismay. Cheers for this Michael.
These videos bring back so many memories. I took a lot of mine apart, and would spend hours upon hours creating new figures. I was so happy when I came across the 1st Snake Eyes even though he had no thumbs. I ended up selling all of my Joes, turtles, and bots. Made pretty decent money, but had I known then what I know now, I wouldve skipped that weekend at the coast and just kept my toys.
Thanks for making my childhood dreams come true
Welcome! Yo Joe!
@@MichaelMercy Nice collection, I am getting. Ready to setup. My gijoe collection, just getting some ideas
Very nice display! I am very close to finally completing my 82-86 Joe Figure Collection. The only figures I still need is Slipstream, Mainframe, Roadblock V2 & Sci-Fi. It took me forever to find a Complete Heavy Metal with mic, Listen & Fun Tripwire, and a Cobra Viper (Glider) Pilot with near perfect Silver emblem. Sometime last year I completed the Special Mission Brazil Team yet I still need the regular version of Mainframe lol. I do have some 87 figures and I just recently started Army Building Night Vipers. I have been Army Building Crimson Guards and Snow Serpents for some time. All of my figures are complete except for Starduster who is missing his Black Visor. I may just have to go with a repro visor for him which is hard for me to do as I have always been very set on having all original accessories and my figures being 100% Complete with good paint.
This brings back so many childhood memories.
My dad gave me the nickname Chuckles because of the G I Joe!
I gotta say the accessories you put with these guys that didnt come with them looks perfect. Excellent video and collection.
Lightfoot is one of my favourites :) loved him as a kid
Man when I was a kid I wished I had all these figures! I remember buying the action figures and vehicles at Toys R US on their aisle! It was awesome 1989-1992.
Great collection!! Some of my favorites were the cobra twins , Baroness Destro Zartan and the Dreadknots!
I really like how you display them not always complete and with mix and match weapons. Great idea
Thanks!
I just wanted to say you have a BEAUTIFUL collection of Joes, and to say I am envious would be an understatement. I am of a certain age, and I had my share of Joes and Cobra baddies, but you took it to another level. All of your videos are interesting, so I just subscribed. :)
Thanks Nathan! Nerdmasté! 🙏
A nice collection, Michael! I don't have enough room in my studio to display my Joes, but I hope to one day figure some way to do that. Currently, I store them in plastic compartment craft boxes, similar to those plastic tool boxes that people sometimes keep craft supplies or screws and bolts in. It's kind of weird though, because it's almost like they're slabbed in a morgue or something. lol.
Do you also have V1 Cobra Commander, Destro, Baroness, Stormshadow, etc, or do you not collect the Cobra figures? Some people don't collect anything other than the Joes, and some only collect Cobra, so I thought I'd ask. I've been collecting both for a couple of years now, and I've managed to get all of the figures, both Joes and Cobras, complete, from 1982-1985 thus far, with the bulk of the 1986 figures also in the collection. I don't have many vehicles yet, other than the RAM Motorcycle, Serpentor's Chariot, and Zartan's sled. I'm not a big vehicle collector, but I do want to get the Mobat and some of the planes. I could never have room to display the U.S.S. Flagg, so I don't think that's one I'll ever seek out.
This is such a treat to watch. I'm really interested in your entire collection. Looks like you have COPS, Visionairies, etc. I need to check your channel to see if you do other room tours. Really appreciate this. My first time seeing every Joe. Very impressive
Thanks!
I love your collection I wish I still had all of mine GI Joe was always my favorite toys & cartoon
This is an awesome collection, hey who was the guy who hung out with ambush is the Joe cartoon. He was a character similar to racondo. Also are you going to do that with your cobras? And hey did you ever find it confusing that flash and grand slam had chest plates the same color?
Thanks! Not sure since I didn't watch the DIC series. I don't have many vintage Cobras but will do a video on them someday. Yo Joe!
@@MichaelMercy thank you, again awesome collection
AMBUSH was with PATHFINDER in a few episodes.
That's the way (I like it)!...Hey Mike, they really look great with that setup, a more detailed view. Congratulations for the Lightfoot, you said before that you didn't like it, but for me he was always one of my favorites, very similar to Airtight with his own R2....👍
Thanks David! Yeah I think that's why I passed on him for so long, his similarity to Airtight. Didn't even know he had those 'hologram' stickers on him, what a bonus!
Was I the only person to yell out each name of the Joes before Michael called their name? Up through 1987, I only forgot a couple of them.
Outstanding video, Michael! Thank you.
Haha, awesome. Thanks Joe!
Great video. I'm regretting selling my collection now more than ever! Had every figure in your video minus maybe 2-5 figures. :( Thanks for all your hard work, at least I can still enjoy these gems through your videos.
Thanks! That's what it's all about. Yo Joe!
How do collector's deal with dust? Seems like you'd be knocking them over. I guess with the stands and air in a can, they don't move too much? How often do you have to dust them so they do look like dusty old toys? Anyway, looks so cool! There are times I see the figures I once had and how I'd love to own them again, but then I think about tracking them down, weapons, condition, SPACE. Ultimately, the way I look at it ...they're someone else's toys, not mine, even though they look exact, those weren't the toys I bought brand new in the package...it's my way of letting go. And, I can enjoy them to a certain degree watching your videos, Michael, actually, you're the only collector of toys I subscribe to. But I do respect collectors for their passion and drive, and just their love for something I love, too. Mostly I love that you guys are preserving them so well, and documenting all your stories of owning 80's vintage toys in video format, capturing the essence of growing up in that time period. Tips on how to keep toys that are, what, 30+ years old up and running and looking their best is all part of it, too.
Thanks! It's a low dust room and dusting doesn't take long anyways it's fun and a way of caring for something I'm passionate about so I never understood the apprehension towards dusting. It can be very therapeutic! 😁
I think I dropped off completely in ‘89, I didn’t recognize any of the 1990 figs, which is a shame because that looks like a solid year. I went straight into Hasbro WWF figures in the summer of ‘90.
1990 to me is where I would stop if I had a choice. In 1991 they indroduced "spring action" and a desperation for anything that would sell. Even though I had a f*** ton of 1992 & 1993. 1990 is the last acceptable line for me.
I recently rescued some of my childhood Joe's, and it has been a complete joy cleaning them up, replacing their O-rings, and finding their missing accessories online. I haven't decided on a display yet, but this is a great solution! Love the channel! 🍻
I was completely mesmerized while watching this. Great collection of figures. Not as much neon in the back rows as I thought there was going to be :) Late 80s and early 90s had some great figures. I am also proud of my gray hair! Great video
Thanks Brian! I don't think I'll be collecting those neon guys, but still lots of great looking figures from those later years.
@@MichaelMercy I dont blame you one bit. I never cared for the neon.
