I got this for Christmas as a kid. Think I was 7. We didn't have a lot of money growing up, so I still remember the shock of seeing this, already built, near the tree. I also got that big stealth plane the same xmas. Probably the best Xmas as a kid
I vividly remember standing in line at the mall, where I grew up, to see Santa at Christmas, it was finally my turn to sit on his lap and tell him what I wanted and this was THE TOY I wanted. Christmas day comes around, run down stairs and see this waiting for me on the couch. What I remember most about this was that Santa was the only person I told, I didn't tell anyone else. This video brings back a lot of joyful memories I had with this Mobile Command Center. Thanks for sharing it.
Growing up in the late 80s early 90s was the best time of my life. Transformers, G.I.joe, real ghostbusters, He-man, ninja turtles, thunder cats, C.O.P.S.
I never saw G.I Joe in the UK. I moved to the US for one year in '82, and I was amazed when I saw these toys. Firstly, to see a "Toys R us" megastore for the 1st time was amazing. Toys store's in the UK, at that time, were small, independent stores, not huge store's with endless rows of toys! I then saw the GI Joe figures and machines. I couldnt believe the figures could be actually played with properly!, as in they could be posed. Up till then, the only figures I had were the Star Wars ones that only the shoulders and hips moved. So you couldnt realistically play. I was in kid heaven, living in a real nice Hollywood apartment (Poncharelo from CHiPs was our neighbour!) it had a swimming pool on the roof, and had the best toys ever. I love the sound effects you do mate, really pop's and brings it all to life.
I got this for Christmas when I was kid. I asked for the space shuttle, but my mom and grandparents bought the wrong one. I ended up LOVING it! I played with that thing for countless hours. The operator that came with it ended up being one of my favorite figures. Great times
One of my vivid memories from this decade was attending a cousin’s surprise birthday party. His big present was the Terror Drome that year. All of us lost it from the excitement. Seeing these things in person when you’re under 10 years old... the scale... it’s hard to put into words how it feels when you were accustom to playing with the smaller figures and vehicles. 😍
Sweaty with tears in my eyes laughing during the whole driving cab description. Pretty obvious what's going on in there right off the bat. Skiing anyone? 😂😂😂
I treated myself to this vehicle a few years ago. I've always wanted it and enjoyed playing with the one my best friend had when we were kids. He also had the Flagg which I am going to set up with my son in short time. It is a thing of beauty. This tank would appeal to any boy alive on earth. It really is an amazing playset. The design is inspired and unlike anything else I've ever seen on the toy shelves. Great video. YO JOE!
Hey Michael. I did the same thing.... I passed along a lot of my toys to a younger cousin so he could enjoy the toys as I did... Keep up the Great work my friend!!!
It took me 6 months to find all the parts to one of these. Dont have the space for a FLAGG so I opted for the MCC. Its a great piece. Never had one as a kid. Wish I had, would have had hours of fun with it. But I do now😄
Marketing Manager: Hey, can you guys come up with a cool playset that is one part tank and one part base? Product Designer: I really wanna go fishing inste... Wait a minute. Tactical tacklebox! Marketing Manager: Job well done, Bob!
I had a fond Christmas memory of this and found this video. My younger brother got this for Christmas. I was 14, thought i wasnt into GI Joe anymore but I was helping him put it together and thought it was really cool. I got an Ozzy Osbourne The Ultimate Sin cassette and was listening to it while hard at work.
That is so awesome, you chose some very good drivers to assist Steam Roller, everything was great from beginning to end of the review. Thumbs up awesome Michael Mercy.
I never knew this thing existed!! And hear I'm thinking that the US Flagg is the benchmark playset of the GI Joe universe. I stand corrected. Thank you, sir! I'm a casual Joe observer and channels like yours helps to expand my knowledge. Plus your room is the bomb!
I think the single stick seats on the sides are meant for operating the turret guns on the sides of the cockpit while the middle seat is meant for moving the vehicle itself with tank controls hence two sticks
This video was the most enjoyable suggestion UA-cam has given me in a long time. What a trip down memory lane. I now love your channel. Cheers from BC!
Even at 41, I still remember....for Christmas/Birthday of 1990 I had received the Mobile Command Center, A piece I always wanted out the '87 Fold-out Catalog (as well as many others), so happy, when I was putting together the dread was slowly taking over...it was missing parts, and had double of other pieces...for instance the black rails (the 8) that are on the sides, only had 5 or 6...the top roof panels, had two of the "heli-pad" type, the other side was missing, the treads were all missing including the 4 little wheels, the detachable lights and guns were all missing, including the sticker-sheet...it was taken back to "Lionel Play World" in hopes of finding another one, no such luck, it was the last and final one that I spotted at retail (knowing it was one of the last remaining '87 items out there), so instead I got a few of the 1990 vehicles instead (Sky Raven & Crusader)( the Sky Raven had to be taken back as well for wrong/double parts...)....and thanks to re-release of the Mobile Command Center in 2003 for the "Spy Troops" line, I acquired once more, and this time with all the parts, I could care less for the figure molds of the "Spy Troops" line, no matter, re-populated it with the classic lines from 83 - 94, including a Cobra take over...and now it sits back in it's box....covered in dust
This and the Terror Drome were my largest G.I. Joe vehicle/playsets. This was cool because I finally had something big to officially use as Joe HQ. personally I favor the Terror Drome because it had the Firebat.
The best xmas ever i got this 1987 , man the best memories of growing up, i remember the box dwarved me thinking i can physically climb in the box, then 6 months later on my bday getting 8bit Nintendo, i miss the 80s
Wow. Steam Roller never misses ab day at the gym! **** Lol, a slide?? GI Joe Mobile Command Center: a fully armed and operational amusement park! **** This is a supremely fun play-set/vehicle that I only ever remember seeing in commercials and in the Sears Wishbook as a kid. Though my adult brain can't help but wonder just how 'mobile' this command center would actually be in the Joe universe. What could top speed be, 2 mph? And there's not much ground clearance under that belly. So as long as it wasn't involved with a time-sensitive mission, or needed to traverse terrain with more than a 1% grade, the MCC could probably fulfill its intended use. And hey, with that slide, Joes could take R&R without even needing to leave!
I got the Defiant for Christmas '87. It was either this or the Defiant, parents weren't going to buy me both. Frankly I'm glad I went with the Defiant. However, I had the opportunity to buy this back in 1997 for $10- yes, $10, but it was missing some parts. Bad idea to have turned that offer down. That said, G.I. Joe toys back in the 1980's *ruled*.
The coolest 'dollhouse' for boys! I'm not downplaying it I love it! I could've picked this up a couple of years ago off of a major collector who had everything, but it was either this or the Terrordrome. Terrordrome won.
For those sliding parts where you might want to "grease", use a candle and rub it over the parts. Using one of a similar color to the plastic and you won't even notice it but it will provide enough lubricate to easy the friction.
Had this on my play list ready to go. Got my boy while he was playing with my old Joe's to stop his cartoons and we'll put on some GI Joe. Put this on, 40 minutes nice Michael's gone all out. Due to the size of it there is probably no other option. Now my son is asking for one. Get back to work Hasbro.
I love that the 2003 rerelease only had slight color variations because that’s how I got mine. The box isn’t as cool as the original, but I don’t go out of my way to collect boxes anyway.
My dad spent hours one Christmas Eve putting this monster together, lol. Sadly I don't think I ever kept it in "tank" formation once I owned it- it just became the "Base" for all of my other toys, including the Joes. It was great fun, though. Having three "tiers" for all your guys made it much easier to play around on it.
Hi Michael! I had this and it was definitely one of my favorite all-time toys. It seems you omitted one play feature: the entire cockpit slides diagonally up/in and down/out. When the MCC is all closed up in vehicle mode, the cockpit can be slid up and in, giving the pilots a higher vantage point to steer from. However, it must be slid back down in base mode or else the base tiers can't be opened and splayed out (sliding it down is what creates that gap to allow clearance for the 1st-2nd-tier hinges to pass through behind the cockpit). Thought I'd mention it!
I completely forgot about that feature! Definitely the most annoying part of the transform when I had it in the 80s and I usually skipped it because it was so finicky. I just check this one and one of the tabs is broken underneath, so the previous owner had trouble with this one as well.
Had the Mobile Command Center for only 3 years. Had to get rid of it, the Cobra Mamba, and the Cobra Night Raven when my family moved when I was 12. The memories though......
What a playset! Reminds me of the Jaws sandcrawler. They added in some really neat play features. To bad you didn't have the 25th anniversary desert version of the AWE Striker to display with it, think the coloring would fit nicely. Wish I could aquire one of these, but sadly I don't have the space. WOW, what a playset! NERDMASTE'! 😊
I got this XMAS 1988 i was beyond stoked, i put it together well but i just didnt put the stickers on correctly which i wish i would have cared more back then cuz stickers put on properly and not all faded can make or break any gi joe vehicle
That box is epic! I kinda regret throwing away my Dyno Riders boxes a few years ago when we found rats in my mom's garage....it was probably for the best
If the Night at the Museum movies was to have a area done up for toys from the past up to today in the room, to maybe a mix of actions figures being took to lost and found in the museum before closing, could see this play set being a cool thing on the goo in the place or toys having fun mixing in with the museum items in the place.
I got this for Christmas as a kid. Think I was 7. We didn't have a lot of money growing up, so I still remember the shock of seeing this, already built, near the tree. I also got that big stealth plane the same xmas. Probably the best Xmas as a kid
Brings back some good memories. Great review
❤ me too! I was 6 and thought this was the best thing I'd ever seen!
Rad Dad you had.

Growing up in the late 80s early 90s was the best time of my life. Transformers, G.I.joe, real ghostbusters, He-man, ninja turtles, thunder cats, C.O.P.S.
Dipset Forever fighting crime in a future time. Cops were great figures
Not to mention all the japonese live action stuff, such as Jaspion, Changeman, Flashman, Cybercops, Jiraya, Jiban and others
Swat cats, centurions, scooby doo,Dexter laboratory, etc
Voltron, mask, wheel warriors, sky commanders, visionaries, Dinoriders, dinosaucers and especially bionic six!
FACTs..
Got mine in 2007 in box for $3 at a church fair. Buddy got rolling thunder at same time. Always wanted when I was a kid.
I remember finding one of these with my grandmother at a yard sale for $16 back in the early nineties, best day ever.

I saw one before.just need to transform to robot electric light ups detachable new sections paint change water ineraction

You got the better toy that year. Thr MCC was way more fun and durable.
They basically took the tackle box concept and made a toy out of it!
Works for me!
Great video. I remember getting the MCC for Christmas as a kid in 87' and I have a complete one now. I also have two chairs in my MCC.
Man. What a set. I ALWAYS wanted this play set when I was a kid.
I remember always looking at the catalog and wishing for toys I knew i would never have 😞😞
I treated myself to this vehicle a few years ago. I've always wanted it and enjoyed playing with the one my best friend had when we were kids. I always wanted this! Great channel Sir! Very nostalgic
I would definitely have to say is that the Mobile Command Center is a glorified motor home for the Joes. Great video.
Marketing Manager: Hey, can you guys come up with a cool playset that is one part tank and one part base?
Product Designer: I really wanna go fishing inste... Wait a minute. Tactical tacklebox!
Marketing Manager: Job well done, Bob!
Two of my favorite Christmas gifts as a kid: the MCC and (one year later) the Terrordrome.
Yes! My favorite joe playset. I have one in an opened box also. Love the box.
I HAD THIS WHEN I WAS A KID LOL my mom surprised me for Christmas
Hey Michael
I got the command center for Christmas 1987. I still have it, it's the largest joe item I have, great playset/ vehicle!
Have 2 of these, one with the box. One of the coolest 80's playsets imo :)
The sound effects you put in for the canopy opening was GREAT!!
Simply AMAZING! Thanks for sharing!
That is so awesome, you chose some very good drivers to assist Steam Roller, everything was great from beginning to end of the review. Thumbs up awesome Michael Mercy.

Was always curious about this, because it came out a year after I stopped collecting. Looks like a great set! Thanks for the video!!
I think the single stick seats on the sides are meant for operating the turret guns on the sides of the cockpit while the middle seat is meant for moving the vehicle itself with tank controls hence two sticks
Great thorough review. Awesome as usual.
Love the sound effects Michael 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I had this one! Man the Joe's were the best toys!
Used to be my dream to own this. Can't afford this when I was a kid.. end up making my own with cardboard boxes.
HA! I KNEW I wasn't the only kid that did that!
So did I! :D
Omg, I thought I was the only one. I made mine with shoeboxes, plastic erector set parts and packing tape for the color.
I used to do the same lol we where poor
I made my own and is still storage!
I got this for my 11th birthday after picking out from the Sears catalog
Michael, another awesome review good brother! Wow, this one really had a lot going on for a kid to play with. Very cool 👍😁
So awesome, love how clean and spotless all your vehicles are . Just like new out of the box !!! Great video, love the channel
This video was the most enjoyable suggestion UA-cam has given me in a long time. What a trip down memory lane. I now love your channel. Cheers from BC!
Thanks, so nice to hear. 🙏
I got this for Christmas way back in the day....it was insane
Had this as a kid. Absolutely awesome.

It is a tactical slide!
Great tour. Sound effects were a nice touch.
Man, you have all the classics!
LOVE THE SUBTLE SOUND EFFECTS
Found one of these in decent shape in my wife’s shed at her grandmas last Christmas, going thru replacing the pieces but always wanted one as a kid ✌️
If all the 1987 Joes and vehicles were in the movie, The Mobile Command Center would've busted through Cobra-La's doors!
Everyone’s kicking butt and steamroller is taking names!! Lol
You have no idea how upset I am that you said this before I did 🤘😁🤘
I got the Defiant for Christmas '87. It was either this or the Defiant, parents weren't going to buy me both. Frankly I'm glad I went with the Defiant. This is what the Joes use to swipe parts from the Mandalorian's ship.

its like the jawa’s sandcrawler for Joes. excellent.
Dont know how many people notice shipwreck is playing pac man arcade game in the haul of the flag ship in this video but it made me smile; thanks👍
Hi Michael! I had this and it was definitely one of my favorite all-time toys. It seems you omitted one play feature: the entire cockpit slides diagonally up/in and down/out. I was going to mention this too, glad I read the comments first.
I completely forgot about that feature! Definitely the most annoying part of the transform when I had it in the 80s and I usually skipped it because it was so finicky. I just check this one and one of the tabs is broken underneath, so the previous owner had trouble with this one as well.
Very nice , thanks for the great review
I used to love the slide. I have mine in a box somewhere. I need to bring that, the Defiant and Flagg out.
Loved this thing as a kid. I always used the beds as a medical bay rather than a napping area lol
Awesome 👏 great job as usual MM!
Had the Mobile Command Center for only 3 years. Had to get rid of it, the Cobra Mamba, and the Cobra Night Raven when my family moved when I was 12. The memories though......
I had the GENERAL which was a very big vehicle along with a Rolling Thunder, it was amazing times.. :)
From the sets i loved but never had the chance to play!
I remember having this as a kid. Really miss having it, but i so know it wouldn't jell well with the "modern" Joes I have.
I jused to have this - also found the roof strange and the drivng room - definitely
had a half cocked design - but i loved it too -
Damn i love these videos!
I remember getting this one Christmas .... so good
Love the sound effects!
Love the mcc, i thought the cabin slide up in vehicle mode and down in base mode? Or did I imagine that
My neighbor had that back in the 90s. It was badass.
Another toy I missed out on as a kid but it is AMAZING 🤘😁🤘
What a playset! Reminds me of the Jaws sandcrawler. They added in some really neat play features. To bad you didn't have the 25th anniversary desert version of the AWE Striker to display with it, think the coloring would fit nicely. Wish I could aquire one of these, but sadly I don't have the space. WOW, what a playset! NERDMASTE'! 😊
I had to go check mine as soon as you mentioned the foot pegs on the top level. Indeed there are none. I thought there were some on there too.
I still have this.
With the 3-man cockpit. The middle man is the driver while the men on either side operate the side cannons.
So....I'm ready to come over and play...!!
Love the nostalgia.
Bought one last year... it's an awesome beast...
i had one, got it christmas of 1987. only difference is the fore and aft roof panels were gray on mine.
Love the sound effects
Great video its always fun to have a box I love the art work.
Btw is there a book where you have all the boxes and cards of all gi joe from 82 to 89?
Gi joe and masters of the universe had such wonderful art work
This is around when I threw in the towel, this and the space shuttle set.
I want one!!!!! Beautiful piece!!!! Lucky you!!!!
Still have mine and it's 99% complete. Only missing a few of the missiles.
It was hard to find this toy on Ebay with all the stickers put on correctly...lol
If the Night at the Museum movies was to have a area done up for toys from the past up to today in the room, to maybe a mix of actions figures being took to lost and found in the museum before closing, could see this play set being a cool thing on the goo in the place or toys having fun mixing in with the museum items in the place.
I had this and loved it, I would watch the hell out of my g.i.joe movie vhs tape
