Actually, Heihachi never saw Devil Kazuya until T4 (that episode in Honmaru, when Devil was taking control of Kazuya's mind). This Devil Battle is symbolic in Tekken 2. Toriko I agree with most of this especially the part about Heihachi plus Kazumi and Akumas unexplored relationship. Like his sudden change in tone felt a bit out of no where. If we're allowed to believe that TK and SF share the same verse then I could imagine young Heihachi getting an ominous warning from a group of gypsies(the same that Bison would later spawn from) that rage and hatred awaits his bloodline. Heihachi being the who he is ignores the gypsy warning, later on Heihachi notices his own father is possessed by a mysterious force and is forces to seal under the Mishima compound. Heihachi remembers the gypsies warning but ignores only to then be attacked by his own wife who is also possessed by a demonic power and is forced to kill her. This would cause him to be very paranoid to the point where he would end up tossing Kazuya off a cliff due to fear of the devil power hunting him and ironically enough making it worse.
Namco Times. Brilliant. The story mode was amazing. Beautifully written, excellent gameplay and, I found myself cheering on Heihachi. I thought he was, in a way, redeeming himself.
I saw the main story online for Tekken 7. I loved it! It was very well written and also heartbreaking. I can’t wait to see what they do with Tekken 8. I hope they do the main story the way they did 7’s.
I thought the reason why kazumi wanted to kill heiachi was because of future stuff, and kazuya misunderstood what happened, and heiachi was still loving his son until he found out about how kazuya had the devil gene
They left so much unexplained with Kazumi honestly. It wasn't even confirmed if she and her clan were evil or purely in the right. They never even confirmed if Heihachi betrayed Jinpachi before or after killing Kazumi. I think they tried so hard to turn Heihachi into a sympathetic character for his last game that they didn't think everything through. Like how dumb is it to throw your son off a cliff to test to see if he has the devil gene instead of waiting? If Kazuya didn't have it, you just killed your innocent son for no reason all because you didn't tell him anything. They honestly should've never tried so hard making Heihachi a tragic character or should've never retconned so much.
Shelton Washington so your saying that heihachi should've waited and told kazuya about the circumstances? wow that would be one heck of an awkward puberty talk. "kazuya your body is changing and not due to puberty but to this tattoo that your mother passed onto you to make you into a devil, that and also your mother tried to kill me so I defended myself, sorry for not telling you sooner"
Kazumi is from a cursed bloodline of Devils, she was sent to assassinate Heihachi if his greed for power got too great. It was also important for Kazumi to gain the trust, love, affection and training off Heihachi to gain an advantage over him because he's one hell of a over powered bastard who would be difficult to kill which was true for her in the end. As for knowing about Kazuya having the Devil within him I don't think it's as straight forward as most people think. After Heihachi saw Kazumi change into a Devil, his eyes then turned to Kazuya "assuming" him to be impure, cursed, a threat. Circumstantial events paint Heihachi guessing more than knowing and was prepared to cross that line because Kazuya is of Kazumi's curse blood and that's was enough for Heihachi to despise him and dispose of him.
slightlytwistedagain She was acting as if there was a split personality after she transformed. I think Kazumi actually loved Heihachi and Kazuya despite her seemingly initial mission. She at least was the only good in Kazuya's life other than Jinpachi before retcons made it seem like it was all a lie. I just don't think she could control her devil gene. It was a while before she started feeling the gene awaken. Maybe her clan forced it to after realizing she loved her family. I wanna know more about her and them... But even with all that said, having the devil gene doesn't have to be a death sentence or a confirmation that you're evil (if you can control it). Heihachi WAS in a bad spot but you just killed a fully grown devil, trying to teach and do right by lil Kazuya even with the devil gene doesn't mean when he becomes older that he'd be evil. And if he did, you know you have the power to end him because you've done it before with Kazumi. He never gave anyone a chance. It's almost like in making him a tragic character they downplayed him being the only reason Kazuya and Jin's Devil gene awakened in the first place. Just felt the ultimate backstory of Tekken was poorly done.

I think the Mishima saga story line was good but the separate character endings were so bad the only good ending in my opinion is Miguel's and that is kinda stupid to
FitnessNerd There's not much to tell about him. He was created by some ancient sorcerer to sense negative energy around the globe. All of his Roger fights are fake.
I am still scratching my head about the prophecy about Devil's return which was mentioned in Julia's and Zafina's Tekken 6 prologues; because I know that they gave that character the boot more or less after Tekken 2; but there are still references about Devil up until Tekken 6 and maybe 7. Im curious about what people think about the possibility of Devil becoming whole if and when Kasuya and Jin finally fight each other as the prophecy strongly suggests that once they fight that Devil "WILL" come back.
I honestly liked the "devil being a separate being" part of the story more. Plus they seemed to abandon the idea of the devil as something to struggle against. Harada seems to be pushing the story more towards a Dragon Ball-esque kinda story. Given that there's more transformations, power levels, move-sets are becoming more anime-esque, the series is starting to take on mainstream anime tropes instead of its martial arts and kung fu movie beginnings. To put it this way, if Lord of the Rings if high-fantasy (where the dragons, magic, orcs, ect, are always there and are part of everyone's everyday lives), and Game of Thrones is low fantasy, where the dragons and magic are there but take a back seat to the rest of the world, Tekken is moving from low-fantasy to high-fantasy, and I'm not a huge fan of that transition
Having only ever played tekken tag tournament and tekken 4 as a child I've always been fascinated by the concept of Kazuya and the Devil gene in general. I always wondered about his past before he became the Kazuya "I" knew and loved playing as. I want to thank you for showing me this HBTW, as this gives me both a history and a future to someone that i truly looked up to as i was growing up.
I still have the hope that Kazuya can be freed from the devil gene somehow. He seems to be bound to suffer the same fate as Heihachi. So I at least want some redemption before he goes. Thinking of it hurts like hell😭😭😭!
I think you are slightly mistaken! Devil is still somewhat an another entity. Heihachi mentioned that Kazumi had developed a split personality, one side human and one side devil. Devil was still another personality, you can see that in Tekken 4. Jun did fought off the Devil and She was able to suppress it due to The Kazama Blood. But After Tekken 4, The Devil became somewhat a "Power". Don't forget Devil Jin is still another personality than Jin. So I assume you are incorrect. Devil is still another entity possessing Kazumi, Kazuya and Jin. Kazumi could control it thus she referred to it as "Power". Kazuya also started to call it "Power" ever since he was able to fully control it in T4. But, Devil Jin is still another entity. You can see Devil Jin's T6 SC Dialogues with Kazuya, they reveal Devil inside Jin is the same personality that possessed Kazuya.
@@Sway187 it doesn't, marks on Jin's forehead don't mean much.. There was also aura around him during t6 before he killed Azazel yet it was confirmed by harada he couldn't control his devil gene during t6
@@Phoenix-pb4sm Kazumi was never interesting and should not have been the originator of the Devil gene. And Jin is a bit divisive. The Devil gene didnt become a thing until T4 with the Devil gene being a by product of devil living within Kazuya for so long, thus passing part of his power on to his son biologically. Which gave Jin his motive of destroying their bloodline, (along with Heihachi's betrayal.) Devil being his own entity gives Kazuya more depth. It also makes sense considering the Tekken world houses beings such as Azazel, Ogre and even the evil spirit that took control of Jinpachi.
I love the moral ambiguity of the Tekken series tbh, it's hard to say if some characters are good or bad, and even the most prominent villains aren't definitively evil.
Perhaps now they can flesh out some of the other characters in later games and we can learn even more about the likes of Paul, Eddie and the rest of them.
Kazuya has hardly had any real interaction with Jin throughout the series. Yeah they've had encounters but they have been mostly brief. Apart from there devil forms, spiky hair, and fighting style you can hardly recognize these two as father and son. So i hope in 8 they add more to there back story.
that's ok it wasn't as bad as me trying to figure out character relations when for several years my only tekken game was tag 1 and i came to the conclusion that kazuya and jin were half brothers, and jun and jin were brother/sister. boy was i wrong.
The Tekken 7 storyline seemed forced & mashed together in my opinion. Devil/Kazuya has always been my favorite Character in the Tekken 7.... Can't wait til 2022 to play Tekken 8😒
so here's the weird thing according to Harada Devil is still canon as a separate character than Kazuya weird huh. he was never retconned out of the history
@5:10 this was retconned or maybe never happened. The devs lean towards hei and kazuya not fighting and the evidence between games suggests that kazuya won. Because when heihachi wins in t4 he just chains kazuya up. Where as when kazuya wins he knocks hei out as devil again later
I hate tekken 7's devil gene retcooned story "attempt" Original version with Kazuya being thrown by his OWN mercelles, shogun-like dad, then struggling to stay alive whilst being seriously wounded, just to be saved by a devilish being at the last breath is MUCH better imo
It's probably not gonna b da same without Heihachi in a Tekken game! Unless some1 writes him back in, which I'm doubting, then we won't know what's gonna happen!
He has the potential to be a great boss character since he pretty much did an Orge in his 1st debut. Plus after Tekken 6 he got a hold of an ancient scroll late taught him to destroy mountains
From what I hear, blame the director, not the actor. He was told to speak that way, he's the Announcer of T7. He's actually a good voice actor. He was given horrible direction. That happens at times.
Yeah....I wanted to know the story there but those parts were so...bad...there was one enjoyable part of his I liked...the interview with Hehachi...thats all I could enjoy with that dude
Kazuya through heihachi off of a ravine at the end of the first Tekken tournament not a volcano which is why it the intro to Tech into you can see him climbing out of the Ravine in the rain
Was really hoping that akuma would be damn near unstoppable against kazuya or heiachi and he would just demolish them but other than that it was pretty good! Picture if Oni fought Devil Kazuya in the bonus chapter!
The only thing i don't understand are the clothes, i mean, Kazuya's devil form is naked, but in the final fight in tekken 7 when he reverts from it he still has his pants on, the glives are the only thing missing, and before, when he faced Akuna at the G corporation building he was in a half transformation like state, but the wings did't tear apart his shirt and vest! Not to mention Jin's transformation, wich transform his gi pants into jeans with leather belt, boots, and chains around the waist! I loved the "realistical" transformation for Kazuya in TT2 in wich his pants and gloves stayed the same and only his body transformed.
Can I just take a moment to explain just how badass Kazuya, and by extension his father is? Heihachi, a man so headstrong, he refuses to die after being thrown off a cliff, being blown up, beaten down by his own father, etc. Only for him to fall in love with a demonic assassin. That child is now Kazuya. Just as headstrong as his father, but with his mother's demonic and sadistic tendencies. Imagine if Heihachi was able to retrieve Ogre's blood and the devil gene for himself. This man would be unstoppable.
Hey dude. I enjoyed the story, even though the other characters did not really shine as much as the Mashima clan. I am a huge Akuma fan and adding this to his resume of stories kind of helps build on to his character. I mean how often has Akuma been nice enough to risk his life for somebody else? Can't wait for the showdown between Kazuya and Jin.
shenell johnson It was just for the plot sake I guess. One would imagine that they are from different universes. Although they did have Tekken VS Street Fighter. . . Maybe they felt that one or two characters belonged in that universe. . . ?
It was cool coming from a reporter's eyes and finding out what the heck happened it did feel a little one sided you fight mostly with the family weather it's kazyua or hehachi and all of the other fighters only get one fight that is weard I hope that we get more fighters as DLC and more story cause I don't think they will leave us hanging until tekken 8 so now that this story is all done what is your next vid going to be about
@@TheNadroj10 no it wouldn't if it did kazumi and jin wouldve rejected the devil. Kazuya became evil because of the cursed of hatred, it made his personality grow darker.
The retcons are real. I could have sworn reading somewhere when I was little that Kazuya encountered Devil when he was dying at the bottom of the ravine. He made a deal with him to take revenge. I always assumed that is why Kazuya threw him off the cliff in the end of Tekken 1. The whole blaming his demonic Mother or whatever was beyond me when I went through the retconned Tekken 7 story mode. I am glad I found I was correct about Tekken lore from the beginning and I had read it correctly back in the day. 😅 My question is if anyone from Hachijo lineage would have the "Devil Gene" or if that term isnt even relevent anymore after they said Jin's "Devil Gene" was not an inhereted trait but the other half of Kazuya's Devil. So there is a single devil or is it a trait passed down genetically? If anyone can explain what is canonically correct, I would appreciate it. Trying to figure out if Reina has it or not. If can provide official sources please include. I was on fan wiki but it seems like some things were not officially recognized facts but inferred from comics and the like.
Imagine if the saga would later end with Jin and Kazuya realize the problem is with the devil, they team up to defeat it and later end up having a happy family life. Then Jin married to Xiaoyu. And then all the world all tekken fighters live in a peaceful world free of devils. What an ending
I don't really think it's retconned to be honest. I think the people who have The Devil Gene have the power to call on Devil and that's what Kazuya did to help himself survive being thrown off the cliff by Heihachi.
If we continue to seek out revenge and kill eachother, we will certainly kill ourselves as well. And allowing bad feelings, like greed and hatred to grow and fester inside of us breeds only more of the same. - Jun Kazama
i just wanted to ask that In mishima family only heihachi is the only one without devil gene including his son Lars while all other including ginpachi, kazumi, kazuya, jin, jin's mom? they all have devil gene or devil?

I am still scratching my head about the prophecy about Devil's return which was mentioned in Julia's and Zafina's Tekken 6 prologues; because I know that they gave that character the boot more or less after Tekken 2; but there are still references about Devil up until Tekken 6 and maybe 7. Im curious about what people think about the possibility of Devil becoming whole if and when Kasuya and Jin finally fight each other as the prophecy strongly suggests that once they fight that Devil "WILL" come back.
I like that idea. They just have to come up with a good reason on why that didnt happen when they fought in Tekken 4 though
@@Sway187 probably wait til Kazuya got his new devil form
Tekken 8 ! Surprise heihachi, surivives the volcano, and kicks Akuma, Kazuya, and Jin's asses; throwing them all into the volcano
GWWWAAAAA!!! HAHAAAAAAA!!!!!
@LiL Speng yes but to a much less degree.
Yeah, now the devil form is like a super saiyan transformation for Kazuya and Jin.
@@arx3516 Jin doesn't have an ultimate devil form as kazuya...
Nor he can control it yet
@@JustAnte9557 Tekken 7 ending shows him controlling Devil
@@Sway187 it doesn't, marks on Jin's forehead don't mean much..
There was also aura around him during t6 before he killed Azazel yet it was confirmed by harada he couldn't control his devil gene during t6
@@JustAnte9557 Im pretty sure they are implying he can control it
i really prefer the deal with the Devil version instead of the Devil gene... but i Like Tekken anyway
Nah
If it's a deal with the devil than Kazumi and Jin would not be as interesting as they are because they would just be normal people
@@Phoenix-pb4sm Kazumi was never interesting and should not have been the originator of the Devil gene.
@@Timquan. Kazumi isn't the originator of the devil gene. Azazel is
@@mauricereticau6292 A game before it was Azazel, it was Jinpachi. Guess it just goes to show how they make the devilish aspect worse as they go on.
@@Timquan. Jinpachi never had the devil gene. He was possessed by a vengeful spirit
At first I thought they were brothers 🤷
You did a good job explaining this very convoluted story!
It's after watching videos like these that you realize you had Tekken ALL fucked up.
that's ok it wasn't as bad as me trying to figure out character relations when for several years my only tekken game was tag 1 and i came to the conclusion that kazuya and jin were half brothers, and jun and jin were brother/sister.
boy was i wrong.
Angel do her next.
Imo after tekken 6 the story went down the toilet
@5:10 this was retconned or maybe never happened. The devs lean towards hei and kazuya not fighting and the evidence between games suggests that kazuya won. Because when heihachi wins in t4 he just chains kazuya up. Where as when kazuya wins he knocks hei out as devil again later
I love how he died by Akuma, the guy from street fighter that invaded tekken because he destroyed them all
I hate tekken 7's devil gene retcooned story "attempt" Original version with Kazuya being thrown by his OWN mercelles, shogun-like dad, then struggling to stay alive whilst being seriously wounded, just to be saved by a devilish being at the last breath is MUCH better imo
Can you please do more KOF characters???
If he does do a KOF character then i kinda hope it's Shingo.
Isaiah Rivers Shingo would be awesome! I also wanna see K
Lets do duke
Do History or Iori Yagami
Idk if i should be happy or sad. There both bad guys. Who do i cheer on
tekken 8 is gonna take a while to come out . man
This is def my favorite telling of the Devil Kazuya story. Concise yet it's not lacking. Kudos.
I couldn’t believe that heihachi was actually a good guy in a way
It's probably not gonna b da same without Heihachi in a Tekken game! Unless some1 writes him back in, which I'm doubting, then we won't know what's gonna happen!
They'll probably still make him playable, maybe as a dlc. He won't be in the story but there's no way he won't be a character
History of Feng Wei!!!
No,please! He is my favorite character, yet NAMCO treats him like shit and he doesn't have a proper story outside of his first appearance in Tekken 5
He has the potential to be a great boss character since he pretty much did an Orge in his 1st debut. Plus after Tekken 6 he got a hold of an ancient scroll late taught him to destroy mountains
The story campaign is excellent providing you skip that monotone narrator who is painful to listen to.
slightlytwistedagain I pictured me as the narrator and well I have to say am I the only one who thinks he's ok
facts
From what I hear, blame the director, not the actor. He was told to speak that way, he's the Announcer of T7. He's actually a good voice actor. He was given horrible direction. That happens at times.
Yeah....I wanted to know the story there but those parts were so...bad...there was one enjoyable part of his I liked...the interview with Hehachi...thats all I could enjoy with that dude
Tekken is awesome. They did a good job on the ending as well. R.I.P. Heihachi Mishima.
Kazuya through heihachi off of a ravine at the end of the first Tekken tournament not a volcano which is why it the intro to Tech into you can see him climbing out of the Ravine in the rain
Very good explanation of the whole story, easy to follow
My compliments👌
I would love to see more of a backstory with akuma past with the Mishimas
The special chapter is canon, since Akuma needs to kill Kazuya to pay the dept with Kazumi, but he failed...
Was really hoping that akuma would be damn near unstoppable against kazuya or heiachi and he would just demolish them but other than that it was pretty good! Picture if Oni fought Devil Kazuya in the bonus chapter!
DarkSigma02 Well,different version of Akuma.
I Can’t Wait For The Second Part Of The Saga
Was that Marigold in the end credits? Awesome, a Periphery fan. Subbed.
I really wish they stick to the narrative of the Devil being a different "entity". An entity that is not on this world.
Heihachi's fast mustaches are the true source of power.
Yay... Vegeta video!
(Okay, they aren't twinsies but they seem to be peas in a pod).
History of Kuma! He's part of the Mishima family, too...
I think the next Tekken game is gonna be awesome Kasuya Vs Jin!
This man would be unstoppable.
any info that has tekken 7 events in there i dont wanna hear yet because im not getting the game until christmas
The Original DEVIL Origin Was Superior.
I remember seeing his win pose being holdin the person he beat in the air by the head
Have you done History of Jack? Jack was 1 of my top faves, even though he was turned into a robot and became a slow mover
Jack has always been a robot.
good Video. would you mind doing one with Leo?
I kinda want Kazuya to beat Jin as well because Kazuya was the original poster boy for the Tekken franchise.
Pablo Flores Story wise that wouldn't help the plot.
No way mate
Sorry but no
Alfredo Larios Nope 👎
I know right there wrong
that was awesome..... please make more
Very confusing with the changing of the stories. Thanks for the breakdown.
Why would akuma fight jin, they don't know each other
shenell johnson It was just for the plot sake I guess. One would imagine that they are from different universes. Although they did have Tekken VS Street Fighter. . . Maybe they felt that one or two characters belonged in that universe. . . ?
Awesome video
history behind the Warriors of the king of fighters!!
Have they released any new Mortal Kombat Comics yet? I want to see a part 5!
Devil Kazua looks like devilman
This lore is so fuckin amazing
It was cool coming from a reporter's eyes and finding out what the heck happened it did feel a little one sided you fight mostly with the family weather it's kazyua or hehachi and all of the other fighters only get one fight that is weard I hope that we get more fighters as DLC and more story cause I don't think they will leave us hanging until tekken 8 so now that this story is all done what is your next vid going to be about
KEEP UP THE TEKKEN VIDS
Kazuya NEVER made a deal with Devil. It was assumed he did because of the Tekken anime. So there's no retcon there.
He should have, that plot is way better than him just being born with it.
TheNadroj10 I agree but there isn't much difference
Tge first games were never clear on that dact so it's up in the air.
@@TheNadroj10 no it wouldn't if it did kazumi and jin wouldve rejected the devil. Kazuya became evil because of the cursed of hatred, it made his personality grow darker.
Good shit ma nigga your fighter videos always good and tekken is ma number one favorite fighting game😎
IT would be nice if Jin also would get an ultimate devil Form just like kazuya
qualizer-m1- he had in a movie a more beastly appearance and was suppresed by kazuya in his devil form
I think he will get it in tekken 8
what does akuma have to do with tekken could do a video on this
this is the best history of but lets get akuma for tekken
thought you were gonna speak about different forms and how he transforms
The retcons are real. I could have sworn reading somewhere when I was little that Kazuya encountered Devil when he was dying at the bottom of the ravine. He made a deal with him to take revenge. I always assumed that is why Kazuya threw him off the cliff in the end of Tekken 1.
The whole blaming his demonic Mother or whatever was beyond me when I went through the retconned Tekken 7 story mode.
I am glad I found I was correct about Tekken lore from the beginning and I had read it correctly back in the day. 😅
My question is if anyone from Hachijo lineage would have the "Devil Gene" or if that term isnt even relevent anymore after they said Jin's "Devil Gene" was not an inhereted trait but the other half of Kazuya's Devil.
Is that Marigold by Periphery? Good choice.
I don't really think it's retconned to be honest. I think the people who have The Devil Gene have the power to call on Devil and that's what Kazuya did to help himself survive being thrown off the cliff by Heihachi.
he was just a kid by then
You ever wonder if the devil gene could be connected to the soul edges influence
the tekken 7 story is awesome
why you didn't did one on Ingrid from street fighter
so is Angel gone permanently? A Story should be done about it.
I guess Heihachi will be a walking Skeleton in Tekken 8
Nice a new video
Can u do Marshall Law, Bruce Irvin, Baek Doo San, or Wang Jinrei next
or History of Julia Chang
thing i don't get is why kazumi and the hachijo have existed to destroy the mishima?
If we continue to seek out revenge and kill eachother, we will certainly kill ourselves as well. And allowing bad feelings, like greed and hatred to grow and fester inside of us breeds only more of the same.
- Jun Kazama
darthkahn45 non canon........
can you cover Julia chang
i just wanted to ask that
In mishima family only heihachi is the only one without devil gene including his son Lars
while all other including ginpachi, kazumi, kazuya, jin, jin's mom? they all have devil gene or devil?
Umer Shehzad jinpachi doesn't have the devil gene he died after heihachi left him to starve to death under honmaru and his body became possed by a demonic spirit
Also jun doesn't have the devil gene she was possessed by a demon wolf. Tekken tag tournament 1 and 2 were non canon
I sort of disagree. I think Tekken wrote akuma into this story very well, as to make him sorta canon.
