Jinpachi is the textbook definition of the road to hell is paved with good intentions. After realizing what the Mishima Zaibautsu had become during World War II, he tried to turn things around and for a time, everything was fine. Did you know the surname Mishima means beautiful island in Japanese?

Jinpachi Mishima. While only having had a role in Tekken 5 as the villain, it is through those little interactions in the different endings that you learn his true character. While he rose to power during the world wars, he was unhappy with that success, knowing the lives it had cost. He was always very aware of what power the Mishimas hold within. Instead of seeking more destruction, he wanted a more peaceful way of life. One pursuing martial arts. A man greatly respected for his perspective, integrity and good heart. It hit me the most when I was young and decided to play the Arcade ladder in T5 with Wang. The bittersweet reunion, Jinpachi's happiness to see his old friend again before turning to dust and leaving a grieving Wang behind. Even in Wang's Tekken 6 Ending, he mentions Jinpachi, telling him they will see each other soon after having spend the last of his energy against warding off Azazel. And then there is Kazuya's ending. Even with Heihachi paying no attention to him, Kazuya could have grown up into a fine man, having had his mother to take care of him and his grandfather teaching him the values of humility, respect and true strength. Those small seconds with the shadows of both, a young Kazuya hitting the mitts smiling as the old man watched over him with pride, hit deeply. But it was those very few sentimentalities that Kazuya needed to kill if he truly wanted to become a devil. Had Heihachi not staged a coup, the entire timeline would have been radically different. He is truly a tragic character and seeing him playable in TTT2 was a wish come true. Concerning the retcon of him having the devil gene though does pop up the question what spirit could have possessed him. If the Mishimas go all the way back to the heian period, they might have existed during the times of the genpei war or have been a rival clan alongside the Minamoto and Taira. Not to mention that a lot of myths of oni would spawn during that time, which would go well with the scroll seen in T8's intro. If the Mishimas of the past were as strong as Heihachi or Jinpachi, they were a formidable force that could have changed all of Japan's history. The spirit could have been a slain oni from the past, or if we tie it more into Jinpachi's perspective of wanting to change the Mishimas, perhaps the amalgamation of people's souls slain by Mishimas throughout history. But that is just me speculating a lot until something is changed again. Jinpachi is a great character and once it is time for TTT3, I hope to see him again. I wonder what his reaction would be to Reina.
I would not be mad if he is a DLC character in the future, I always liked his design and I think it would be cool to see him interact with all the other Mishimas on the roster.
This video has got to be the most well spoken character backstory I have ever seen/heard! The amount of emphasis and the tone u put behind every word was magical! Ty for the video! We all love the mishima’s! I hope jinpachi do in fact comes back. All he ever wanted was peace, sad that a character with such ideology ends up being the most tragic
Despite being dead in Tekken 5, I will always love Jinpachi Mishima due to his design and his sash/cloth thing around his waist. He was watching the battles from the heavens from T6 onwards. (Not exactly what happened btw.)
Jinpachi is my absolute favorite Tekken character. I want nothing more than to see his return as a playable character, and hopefully with a small story segment (something a bit more substantial than an arcade ending) like a flashback playable story sequence.
You should have used the cutscene winning animation with Tekken Tag Tournament 2, with Heihachi and Jinpachi, where Heihachi opens a trap door and Jinpachi falls trapping him.
The fact that if Jin didnt manage to defeat Jinpachi then Jinpachi would've been the strongest character in Tekken since in his ending it was showed that he was becoming more and more powerful the longer he lives with the Evil Spirit/Devil Gene's insife him
For all the newest members of the mishima family introduced overtime including Reina. Jinpachi still to me is the best. He's like sindel in mk. A character who looks evil or someone you don't want to mess with. Then it turns out they are actually tragic Heroes. You only get snippets of lore through arcade battle story moments but it's actually so much more interesting than the story we get about Kazumi or even Reina. The fact Kazuya and Wang respected him more than Heihachi is massive. Him even being revived and as a last ditch effort, sets a tournament and calls his best friend to kill him before evil overcomes him. Really wished they'd bring him back as a DLC character
1899. He is old. I read that the 1st Tekken game take place in 1987 but is from a website, so it may not be canon. Do you know what year the 1st Tekken game take place in
I felt like Jinpachi was challenging, unlike Azazel, who was just cheap and unfair. To this day, I still don"t understand the mechanics of beating that thing. I felt like I beat Jinpachi with skill and understanding. I beat Azazel with random luck. One of the many reasons I played a lot more Tekken 5 than Tekken 6.
I hope they bring him back this game! I used to put in some real pain with jinpachi on TTT2! Hoping for heihachi to come back too!
