  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, I had a lot of extra time on my hands. I started a podcast. This is episode 22 of that podcast, with a little extra added in July 2024. Ronald Reagan talked about Samizdat, a pushback against Soviet censorship through secretive self-publishing, in 1976.
I follow-up him up by offering additional history about Samizdat and a look at life in the United States that might mirror aspects of Soviet society.
    Original episode description:
Could a Soviet-style censorship come to the United States, in spite of First Amendment protections? Probably not. If censorship should ever happen, it will more likely comes from the people, not the government.

First and you should not cut off the beginning, unless you need to. Also I likey, Thank You for continuing this. Edit: A wonderful insight into an anti-censorship wave behind the iron curtain...in languages I cannot read in. I guess I could always learn a new language. In any case I like how you link it to the present...well 2020 but it still applies. Edit2: Have you heard or read about The Uncensored Library? It is a beautiful minecraft building that lets dissident writers disseminate their literature. I wonder if you think something like that could be good.
