As an 89 yr old long time resident, i will tell ya this area has always been in a state of flux. i can go back to the 1950's n' and just like people here now complaining, we had people then telling us it was better in the 20's n' 30"s...as we would tell those in the 80's that our 50's Cross was better...each generation has had their version of the Cross. As my old dad use to say, you'll have a bloody miserable life if ya can't handle change! So, i just roll with the times and actually i prefer the quieter hip cashed up crowd now to the drunken louts who'd train it in from the Shire n' the western suburbs on the weekend and bikies pushin their drugs. Happy dayz!
This absolutely sadens my soul seeing this strecth of Kings Cross so lifeless. I lived on Kellett street in the 90s and KK was not dead and de caffinated like this.
I agree , sadly much of Sydney is becoming one generic neighbourhood one after the other , most of all the inner city areas that were once individual and interesting in their own ways are now becoming the same - the same retail shops, same style bars and pubs, same sorts of eateries - this was the main reason I started filming a lot of these places and trying to catch a glimpse of things before it’s all gone .
