Thanks for the happy memories of the suburb I grew up for some years. It's looking very attractive, great street paving, respectful additions to the old character of the suburb largely and so pleased they've kept the old hanging globe street lighting. Marrickvilee Road shopping seems thriving even if New Canterbury has a number of closed shops. Many thanks. again.

@@jackpallace275 thank you , I appreciate the comment. I have to agree with what you say about the area , it is one of the suburbs that have done an excellent job keeping the place looking great without having to rely on over development. Lots of good local stores and eateries with plenty of the original buildings remaining. I think a lot of new Canterbury road is struggling at the moment no matter what the suburb is. Great to hear from someone who grew up in the neighbourhood. Thanks again and thanks for watching 🙂

Fascinating walk. We lived in Council units near Bulwara Road. All the little pubs gone now. We too young but they were on every corner. All the people we knew will be passed now. To be honest it was not a nice place to live. Looks very gentrified now. You had to have your street smart back in the early 60's.

I agree , sadly much of Sydney is becoming one generic neighbourhood one after the other , most of all the inner city areas that were once individual and interesting in their own ways are now becoming the same - the same retail shops, same style bars and pubs, same sorts of eateries - this was the main reason I started filming a lot of these places and trying to catch a glimpse of things before it’s all gone . Croydon is a neighbourhood in the inner west of Sydney. Located 9 km ( 6 miles) from the Sydney CBD. It is bordered by the Suburbs of Burwood , Ashfield and Five dock. The Traditional owners of the area are the Wangal people of the Eora nation. The area was once heavily wooded with Gum trees and other species. The first land grant in Croydon area was to Captain John Towson In April 1793. Other grants were to soon follow. Between 1800 and 1860 the land was cleared of forest to use for orchards and grazing land. Croydon was named after a suburb in London - England.

Forest Lodge is a small old inner city neighbourhood bordered by the neighbourhoods of Glebe , Camperdown and Annandale. The name Forest Lodge came from a house that was built in the area in 1836 - the house was demolished in 1912. The area is close to the Glebe shopping Strip as well as Broadway shopping centre. The university of Sydney is not far in near by Camperdown. It is a short walk to the Glebe foreshore parks and the Johnsons Creek walk.

I went to the Westfield in Burwood last month. Had a really weird experience at this Korean restaurant in their food court. It was around 5 or 5:30, and I asked the lady working there if they still sell chips by itself when I noticed food being packed in takeaway containers. She didn’t give me clear answers and just answered “yeah, yeah”, while keeping her arms on the counter and smiling. I tried to tell her if I could order just chips. She then pointed at one of the takeaway containers and said “these are chips”. Like okay, I can see they are chips, so what was the point of her saying that cause that was just stating the obvious and it didn’t answer my question. Then, she kept saying “yeah, yeah” with a smile. I just left cause I could see English wasn’t her first language, so maybe she didn’t understand what I was trying to say. At least she wasn’t rude and she had patience and was friendly, but still, was not helpful, and I felt like she was trying to flirt with me cause she seemed pretty young. Like no more than late 20s.
