This is our full walk-through of Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana at EPCOT from a Cast Member preview in July 2023 (we were invited by friends). We entered the walk-through at sunset and spent about one hour there. It is simply magical in the evening!
Moana, Journey of Water has amazing water effects as well as characters to look for in the rocks. This is a COMPLETE spoiler for the attraction. There were a few effects not working on this evening but most were. The 16 foot tall Te Fiti is very impressive at night!

I keep seeing people say this belongs in AK. I respectfully disagree. This attraction shows the relationship between land and water. It’s located right next to the Land and Living Seas pavilions. It fits perfectly where it is.
I agree with you. Its teaching about the water cycle and EPCOT goes together with science. Culture and Science have always been the core of EPCOT.
It looks cool, but I definitely think this definitely should've been at Animal Kingdom. I like how it looks at night!
it has nothing to do with animals
Neither does Avatar.. Aesthetically it would just look good at DAK or Adventureland @@toyaliens
Or the Polynesian hotel
@@randolphwilliams2365 agree. The Polynesian was actually designed as an extension of Adventureland
Contemporary- tommorowland
Grand Floridian- Main Street USA
Wilderness lodge - Frontierland
Epcot also features the land and sea pavilions, which this is near, it’ll fit in fine
Look, I think this is a pretty good experience, it’s really clever, and it ties really well into the movie Moana. However, this could’ve been a queue for a Moana water ride
That's how disney is now let's make queues and pass them as attractions don't get me wrong it's cool but passing line queues as attractions is lame
omg yes took the words out of my mouth
@@ThemeparkNThings This is not a queue though. The queue lines have always been created to keep interest and peoples minds busy as they wait for long periods of time. This is a walk through attraction aimed at education through character story and interaction.
@pauljohnson6514 you know how many stories of people saying before this was built that this was going to be a ride and yes queues do have educational experiences its a queue disguise as a attraction no matter which way you want to put it
@@ThemeparkNThingsit was never meant to have a ride. Rumors are just that…rumors. Reality…it’s a walk through attraction. Call it what you like…reality is reality.
I know many will say that this would've been better for Animal Kingdom but I actually really like this. The interactivity is very well done and the theming is unbelievable. Glad to see another piece of the Epcot transformation is done.
It reminds us of the old ImageWorks at Imagination as far as the interactions. It is a good fit for EPCOT.
How? Moana has no animals
@@alucard2010 technically she does
@@burneyboys02 So does Winnie, 101 Dalmations, Snow White, etc. Throw them all in?
@@burneyboys02 then put the pig and chicken in animal Kingdom 🙄
Beautiful video. 😍 You did a great job capturing the magical, evening atmosphere.
I love how there is a slice of edutainment in this attraction as well! It’s an interesting combination of the ideals of old EPCOT and the merging of IPS. It would be cool to see more projects done in this way!
I prefer non-IP. IPs stifle creativity and bring distraction. Think Horizons, OG Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Everest, Safari, Soarin', Thunder Mountain. IP is not needed, nay out of place in EPCOT and AK.
Avatar fits in beautifully in AK, I can’t imagine it being at any other Disney or universal park. The theme of avatar is literally conservation, which is exactly what ak is about
Fantastic views of that Orlando sky - great backdrop for this attraction!
It really is! And Spaceship Earth. - Denise
This is a nice addition to Epcot! The water effect are neat and it's somewhat educational. A nice relaxing area to unwind. :)
I like it but they have to limit the people entering for you to enjoy the interactivity. It reminds me of Pandora as well.
So beautiful. Well filmed. The cloudy sky background and spaceship earth lights were spectacular. Almost Jurassic. ❤
Now THIS is how I remember Epcot being. We learn about the environment, we interact with the exhibits. Yes, it’s Moana, but it focuses more on the learning experience, interaction, and sensory stuff, which is part of why so many of us grew up LOVING Epcot before it started focusing on IPs.
Plus… LEAPING WATERS! 💜💜💜
universal is creating EPIC UNIVERSE. from what I've seen thus far, it's going to be EPIC. then we come over to EPCOT........this new........water show. come on Disney. it's pretty. it' nice but what happened to THE MAGIC???? 😑😐🤨🤐🤔
Too busy with their diversity hires and lobbying for 3rd graders to learn about anal sex and dildos.
Dude this is just a play area mainly designed towards younger guest
Wonderful nighttime experience. Great fun for the whole family.
Really beautiful and well done. I disagree with the comments here…it is perfect in Epcot and should not be in Animal Kingdom given what it’s trying to embody. People are just saying it should be in DAK due to the Blue Sky Announcement. I think this will be a perfect place for people to learn, enjoy, and relax in the hot Florida sun. I only worry how congested it’ll get in the summer given the low crowd capacity in there
Nothing you haven’t seen at Disney before, just in a Moana’s set inspired. Would fit better at Adventureland, in the Magic Kingdom. Or even as a play area for guests at the Polynesian Resort. Point to the effort of making Epcot a learning experience again, though. I miss the old Epcot Center from the 80’s!
The OG Figment Jumping Fountains will always be KING
Thank you for this walk trough. Water is life and arguably, or not, our most valuable natural resource. This seems to be pretty spectacular to view at night, with Spaceship Earth in the background and will be a great place for children to be entertained. Also, I think that there is some Moana fatigue, but personally I believe it is one of Disney's better cinematic achievements with a great musical score and I am not insulted by the IP placement. I am a huge EPCOT fan and think this is a nice addition, especially to give kids a place to play before you drag them off to World Showcase.
Much more impressive at night.
Looks awesome. My son hates Epcot but it's always held a special place for me.
He will probably like it when he is a little older. Then you can enjoy together ☺️.
Great video. Looks like this could have been an amazing queue to a Moana ride. Unfortunately, there's no ride.

I really hope they add more walkthrough attractions throughout the parks. This is so nice.
We were in Epcot last year on October 1st, the 40th Anniversary, all we could see was "Wallcot" and construction....now to see the finished product...Disney has hit a HOMERUN! Interactive and what Epcot was really supposed to be (don't get me wrong, I love the rides)...educational. Thank you for sharing this!
Incorrect, Epcot was originally going to be Walt’s dream city, he wanted to created his own paradise people could live in in which they’d have to follow his laws
Wow! An educational, interactive and relaxing new attraction at Epcot? What year do they think this is, 1982? Don't get me wrong, I still despise the idea of Epcot being an IP park, but I feel like this is the best thing they've added in decades.
I know. It is a beautiful garden area, and it will probably feel wonderful on hot days. Provided it doesn’t get clogged with people, I could see this being a new area to go relax and cool off away from the main crowd.
"DO NOT USE FOUNTAIN IF YOU ARE SICK WITH DIARRHEA"
Damn.. one more thing to worry about when I go to Epcot.
Now that is amazing! the Disney imagineers did a wonderful job with this. Looks so beautiful at night! And peaceful with the strings of water, I love the instrumental theme of We Know the Way.
Que magico es lo más bello como magia existe la magia los unicornios y princesas es in paraiso la Flora es hermosa la agua se siente como si fuera magico es tan bello
I see you from Chile. I love you!
Looks like an attraction to see at night. Very beautiful
This looks very well done!
Sure, it looks great now in an influencer preview event with literally no crowd. I'll be more interested to see how it holds up when thousands of people are jammed in it all trying to "interact" around each other and all that motion sensor tech starts wigging out and breaking down. Nowhere even close to this calm little video....
This was a Cast Member preview, we were invited by friends who work for Disney. And yes, it will be crowded at times - I would not expect it as much at night as guests move to World Showcase. Hopefully Disney can keep up on maintenance with the walk-through. - Denise
You got there right on tim e. Gorgeous footage of an amazing environment. Thanks.
🤯 AWESOME!!! Can’t wait to experience this at Epcot!
So this is just a big playground about water lol
This belongs in the front half of EPCOT, where it is. That half is about our planet and how we can help it.
This would fit great in Adventureland or at the animal kingdom.... Next to spaceship earth.. I don't know
It does look cool at night though
This is beautiful thank you
This is beautiful!
Looks neat! Wish it had been used as a queue for a Moana ride though
Great idea, very well done, wrong park. 🤷♂️
This is true Disney magic!
is this really supposed to bring more people into EPCOT? Is this what we get to see after turning the whole future world area into a vast construction site where you have to walk next to a wall for minutes without seeing a thing? I love Disney but this is mediocre for their standards
Thank you for doing these videos every year. My kids look forward to your Halloween videos and it helps get them ready for the night when we go. If we miss something new during the night we can always count on having your videos to fill us in on what we may have missed. Thank you again!
So beautiful new place at Walt Disney World.
Thank you for this walkthrough, it feels like I was really there!
Very nice & well put together video! Appreciated you showing it both in the day & at night 👍🏼
Wow is the word ❤
When this got announced I thought it was stupid but seeing it now, it looks cute and relaxing if it doesn't get super busy.
IS THERE A RIDE AT THE END OF THIS QUEUE!
I think just a walk through
It’s just a walk through I think was a waste
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 right
When you can’t go to Hawaii and this is as close as you can get
Disney's artistry remains unmatched.
Wrong.
You clearly haven't seen europe parks
Love it !!❤❤❤
Beautifully shot video!🦋 Well done. The way that dancing water frames the monorail.❤
🤩
Thank you for watching, Max! It is really quite lovely. - Denise
Any idea when this will open to the public, heading there soon and would love to check it out!
Should be soon, was in the area recently as a pass holder. So should be open soon
It’s volcano bay lol
Denise ready for Tinkerbell singing this is Halloween.
Thank you so much for being honest 💜
When I first saw the title, I'm thinking "Cool, Epcot just got a new water ride". Then I watched the video, and the feeling of anticippointment was overwhelming
That looks amazing
Who at Disney decided to make an attraction where it looks like one of the main characters is peeing?
Es hermosa , divertida y educativa ❤❤❤❤❤
Looks Incredible. Reminds me of the old Epcot. We are going September 8-9. Any chance non cast members can go in? Staying at the Riviera!
It's open already? Looks awsome
Very beautiful 🤩
I agree it would of been better at animal kingdom but I’m happy they brought something new to Epcot
Moana is my favorite movie. I’m even wearing her right now.
A lot of comments on this video are negative, and while I understand that some people feel underwhelmed, as someone who loves practical effects and theming nearly as much as the rides themselves this will definitely be fun and on my list to do when I get an annual pass again in a couple years ^^
I give it 3 to 4 months and you’re going to see all of those effects turned off to save money…. They did it in Pandora at night. It doesn’t even look like the same beautiful place they presented when they first opened it. But it’s DISNEY SO….
❤️👏🏻
I dunno, doesn’t really do much for me. It would have expected a lot more for how long this took to build.
Yeah it's really just nice landscaping with jumping fountains and some signage. It feels like an interactive queue from 10 years ago. I wonder if the budget was majorly cut or something.
some people are never happy with anything
@@franciscopastrana2538 If you’re referring to me and the other people that aren’t crazy about this update, that’s not true. I’m simply honest with myself when it feels like Disney is cutting corners and cheaping out on projects. It helps nobody to congratulate Disney when they do a poor job, but I’m also happy to call it out when Disney does something great. I’m not a Disney apologist, that’s all.
Nice for kids but no too magic for a Disney theming. It looks more like a small adittion for a zoo or a shopping mall than a sensory experience for a major worldwide theme park.
No interest in this
Beautiful but extremely out of place next to spaceship earth and the monorail. Such a shame.
Do not drink the water signs but designed to be fulled handled >.< Looks really nice but if a really busy day can see not getting any chance to get to have any interaction with things.
Needed something extra either meet & greet or even a themed merchandise location/food stall at the exit. worry is that it will become a proper one time only thing to do, which is a shame.
Woooooooooooow💕❤💕❤ really💕💕💕💕 incredible👍🤩👍🤩👍🤩👍 very💕💕💕 cute💕💕💕 place❤❤❤❤
Nice but they should have did more for Moana.
Italy pavilion needs a Luca themed ride or walk through give the Italians something would ya!!!!
Please no
Don't get me wrong this is very cool but i think its lame that disney is trying to pass line queues as attractions its a queue with no ride
@elinolasco-vj5jm I wouldn't have guessed that lol 😆
17:10 Schafrillas!
animatronics wahy is she not one com on Disney. Work with me we need animatronics in all new Disney rides
Where’s the ride? This is boring to me kids will hate it after one walk through and adults the same. One and done…
I bet you’re fun at parties.. 😑
I’m loads of fun? I love Disney go 3-4 times a week. This is a dud
Cute but it doesn't really feel like Moana. Feels like a part of Pandora to me 🤔
What was the rock with the bird feet walking up to it? I couldn't tell what it was 😂
Took me a minute of staring at it but it's got a carving of Hei Hei (the chicken) on it lol. I do see what you mean about it feeling a bit more about pandora. Maybe it's the rocks, instead of having sand? Not that having sand would really be feasible with the interactivity, there'd always be weirdos trying to steal it and take it home as a souvenir ^^;
@@dragonspirit996 Yeah people would probably take the sand....🤔 There just wasn't a lot of decorations if you know what I mean. Like have those coconut creatures scattered all over the place. Or Hei Hei and Pua appear somewhere and not just a carving.
@@pipperrytook2314 That's fair! Though the coconut guys also had carvings, they were spitting water out of the walls like the darts in the movie lol.
@@dragonspirit996 Yeah that was cute, but that's all they had
Best part is towards end with the grass lady cant recall ger name lol
It belongs at Epcot since it's cultural. Same for Encanto and Coco
13:34 is tifiti if u want to see her
Not right for Epcot. Animal Kingdom is the place for this because of it’s setting, maybe Hollywood Studios as Moana is a movie…. It’s only something you’d walk through once because it’s new. Not really an attraction to go back too. It all looks very nice, just a bit pointless and in the wrong place. The old Epcot with Mouse Gears and the fountain was best.
About time. They needed another nice addition to Animal Kingdom. It's going to fit right in.
I agree it’s beautiful but Epcot is also a spring like place too 😅though I do agree should’ve been in animal kingdom
only thing i like is the soundtrack.
Epcot if it had a beach be like : #Moana #Disney #Epcot #Themepark
yo it’s open now
Man, it's no wonder I thought it seemed like perfect timing for this particular attraction to have opened on the exact day of the Disney Brothers Studios founding's centennial! I'm admittedly taking a wild guess that Imagineers might've drawn inspiration from Walt unveiling his plans for EPCOT when he was on his last legs, especially when realizing it was during Moana's theatrical run when it was exactly half a century since Walt's fateful passing:
ua-cam.com/video/sLCHg9mUBag/v-deo.htmlsi=SmRjwOmZo1hCKui_
The Journey of "water" is the "WA ACROSS Re-turns back as ER
So wish they had put it in animal kingdom in the dinosaur concrete walled up area
WHY?
Where is this located? 😮
Bro the week I left Disney the next week it opened🤧😭
Location
It actually looks really beautiful, but I really don't understand it being on EPCOT, could really see it in AK.
Why? It has nothing to with animals or wild life. Just water
@@alucard2010with so many natures
@@enzojayden1 AK = Animals: current, extinct, and mythical. It's not a nature park.
Where is there
Would have been more cool if it was a boat ride
Definitely better at night! Really comes alive! Whereas, kind of boring during day time. :-/ And unfortunately their make-over transformation of Epcot as a whole from the D23 Expo in 2019 has fallen short and will never live up to the amazing presentation that we saw at the Epcot Experience that they initially promised us was coming. I realize the COVID pandemic and their financial strains as a company are the main reasons that led to so many projects getting cut back or scrapped/cancelled entirely. But it seems like Disney World often has a trending bad habit of writing grandiose checks that they cannot afford to cash. They historically have a track record which tends to over-promise and then they end up under-delivering.
