@BalletBabyBoy. The ballet was "revived" by the Mariinsky in 2009 or 2010 and is perhaps more beautiful than ever. I know that it was performed during the 2010/2011 season quite a few times, but I don't know if it on YT. The composer Yarullin never saw his ballet performed, having been killed on the front in 1943 in WW II.
For me, this is great dancing; Plisetskaya, Ulanova, Struchkova -- these are artists the likes of whom I doubt we'll soon see again. But how grateful I am to have had the good luck to have seen them. Thanks so much for this film clip.
If you like to watch more about Maya Plisetskaya as Syuimbike and Yuri Kondratovitch as Ali-Batyr in "Syuimbike and Shuraleh" movie versions 1964, 1965. 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, and 1989 just go watch it any time.
She is such a great artist, so beautiful I cried. I can hardly stand ballet anymore but seeing this makes me know why I loved it and made it a career. I know this music, it's a rare ballet and this is the best part. Beautiful!

I love this dance . Mayas body movements are beautiful to look at . And the lifts are wonderful. They both make it look so easy.
A beautiful example of the poetic lyricism Plisetsksaya could show in her dance.

I would be interested to see the revival but there are no Plisetskayas left.
