    Very insightful! From my little knowledge, I think most people start from tailor shop and then go on to fashion school for polishing 😁

      Yes they do but with so many fashion schools coming up, it's hard to choose.

    Usually, if you want to study dressmaking from a dressmaker or seamstress you have to take your own sewing machine.

    Great points kudos. However i has a bad experience yrs back when i left a tailors shop for a fashion school but ended up being taught by different tailors daily which often left me confused and i had to leave again for a tailor's shop where i finally learnt and finished and was able to start my own business.

      Thank you! This happens when schools don't have a unified method of teaching, especially when it comes to pattern drafting.

      You can buy some pattern drafting books. They really help. I don't know of any, but I know people who learn from using them.

    Is studying fashion and clothing technology from polytechnic in Nigeria (e.g Yabatech, poly ibadan , auchi poly e.t.c) better than fashion school?

    • @Bhooki
      @Bhooki  Рік тому +2

      What you will learn in Technological schools is different from fashion schools. Fashion schools focus mainly on sewing and pattern drafting. While tech school teaches you the foundation of fashion which involves history, garment manufacturing, pattern grading etc. I suggest you learn from tech before fashion school because most tailors in Nigeria don't know the history of fashion or how it was manufactured. Also, tech schools give you the option to specialise in a specific area of fashion. Not every fashion person sews. Some only make the design (drawing), someone else creates the pattern and then someone else sews.

    Thanks for the video, this my question what of if you went to fashion school and after 6 to 8 months training and you didn't get it what will be the case????.most fashion school have a maximum of 6 months and extra 1 or 2 months as bonus class, so what can be if not meet up within this months????

    • @Bhooki
      @Bhooki  2 роки тому +1

      I would suggest you learn on UA-cam. Practice, practice, practice. Fashion School are there to just teach you the basics. The rest is up to you. Buy cheap fabrics and teach yourself. Ask questions and learn simple tricks on sewing. Not everything needs to be done the hard way. Also, join Facebook groups on sewing, they really help.

    • @preciousgift2957
      @preciousgift2957 2 роки тому

      Thank you. One more thing, the reason why I want to go to fashion school, 1 pattern draft ability to draw any clothe you want to sew , identification and illustration of materials and business management.most tailor don't this especially pattern draft which will enable you to be able to draw any design you want to make

    • @Bhooki
      @Bhooki  2 роки тому +1

      I agree with you. You need to learn pattern drafting. However, you can also learn this on UA-cam. There are so many detailed videos that will teach just as much as you would learn in a fashion school. If you have the money, go back to a fashion school but make sure you tell them what you want to learn and the duration of time you are willing to spend.
