Rex's tone is insane. Vinnies snare sounds like a gun shot. lol this is why Pantera is and always will be the greatest metal band ever. thanks for uploadin
His kit always sounded like some kind of relentless machine- a lot of attack and presence but still heavy and bassy I don’t know how it manages to do both things- huge yet articulate and so precise but with a human feel and ultra tight pocket
This even holds up when stripped of guitar and vocals. Testament to their greatness. Imagine being able to lay down such a tight groove and then have a guitarist like Dime to lift it even further.
If Rex wasnt misinformed at the time i suppose he would have lent his skills to some Sega Genesis Bass Tracks because this is literally what they were doing at the time. So many games then Like thunder force iv are just so bass heavy, its almost incredible how close Rex is to this.
As a lad rex played sax in the school band. Mum and dad paid for music lessons. That's why he knows were every octave and notes are. Sounds .Now it's done. Play it to anyone. Glint in their eyes. Genuine bad arse drum and bass. Let us say thank you.
Never played a Sax my man…I played the Tuba & back then, they had Music funding through the State!! Vince & I both benefited greatly from the Awesome Band leaders…Get your facts str8!!!
The easiest thing for Phil to do was to pick some dude from his other band to replace Rex as needed. The hard thing to do would be to get some unknown 20 year old guy whos almost as good as Rex. I know of a bass player that could definately keep up with Rex but hes only in his 20s. Pantera gave Phil the biggest chance of his life and he ought to do it for someone else too.
@@TSE_WOODY Not only that, but he wrote a lot of the songs and riffs in their discography. Each member was integral to make the badass songs that we have today.

Rex is a insane bass player, when his lines joins with the Dime's tone is like a thunder inside your head. These guys are fucking legends.
The most talented Metal band of all time. Those guys can play anything.
I agree buddy!!!
I could only imagine the amazing music that PanterA would be writing today if they were still with us.
I always knew this song was mostly bass driven. You cant help but to not miss it.

Are you saying Pantera shouldve got rid of Rex? Bad take if so, rex is integral to the sound as much as anyone else in Pantera.
