I’m going to have someone install next week. So I don’t need them to plug in the usb cord if I’m going to go wireless or should I have them plug it in anyways?
I strongly recommend to have the USB extension cable installed and put in an out of the way place such as the glove box or, the center console. The wire can sit there unseen and not bother any one.
One day there may be a firmware update for the in-dash receiver. The firmware update will happen through USB. You'll be able to easily do the update with the USB extension cable stashed in the glove box or center console as long as it's connected to the back of the receiver during the install.
In addition, the USB source is a great way to playback music stored on a USB flash drive.

My DMH-2600 NEX seemed to be having problems with iOS15. But after updating to iOS16, everything is working fine. Thank you!

I just did the same thing of updating to iOS16, but mine is still giving me trouble by not connecting wirelessly. I have the DMH-1770NEX. Please advise
@@ThatsMessyMedia Please note: Pioneer DMH-1770NEX works with Apple CarPlay with a wired connection through USB only. DMH-1770NEX does not work with wireless Apple CarPlay. No update to iOS or firmware will make it work with wireless CarPlay. DMH-1770NEX is USB connection for CarPlay only.
Is this already built into your pioneer ? Or did you buy a wireless apple CarPlay and plugged it into the back of the pioneer? I have bought myself a pioneer SPH-DA160DAB and I wonder if it is the same thing here.
The Pioneer SPH-DA160DAB works with Apple CarPlay. You'll need to plug in your iPhone to the USB port on the back of the in-dash receiver. Please take a look at this How To video from Pioneer about a similar receiver: ua-cam.com/video/_P3_aPDLK2E/v-deo.html

@@henrikstorstrand7986 The Pioneer SPH-DA160DAB works with Apple CarPlay. You'll need to plug in your iPhone to the USB port on the back of the in-dash receiver to get CarPlay to work. This will also charge your phone when it's plugged in.

What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? A few very different receiver models look nearly identical. If you have the Pioneer DMH-1770NEX/DMH-1700NEX, you'll need to plug your iPhone in through USB to get Apple CarPlay. Since this is a used vehicle you may need to explore the vehicle to find the USB extension cable so you can plug in your phone. The USB port is on the back of the in-dash receiver. Pioneer includes a USB extension cable in the product package. The USB extension cable is used to bring the USB port up into the vehicle's passenger compartment. The USB extension cable is typically installed at the same time the in-dash receiver is installed. I recommend to look in the vehicle's center console, or glove box for a USB extension cable. Plug in your iPhone and Apple CarPlay should show up on the screen with a several seconds.

Why do my receiver drop out while listening to music and it says gps antenna not connected? Please help
What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? If you have Pioneer DMH-W2770NEX you'll need to install the GPS antenna that is included in the box with the receiver. You can see it here: ua-cam.com/video/4x2O5DPDMqg/v-deo.html

@@pioneerelectronics I had a shop put in the system and they told me they put a new gps antenna in my car cause I already had this model replaced a week ago…. Also do I need to plug in my phone to the usb port to connect my phone to the receiver?

I recommend to return to the Pioneer Authorized dealer where you purchased the product and explain the GPS antenna not connected issue. This is not normal operation for Pioneer DMH-W2770NEX.
If you have Pioneer DMH-W2770NEX you do not have to plug in your phone through USB in order to use Apple CarPlay. You can do wireless Apple CarPlay.
