I wanted to share some photobooks that have impacted the way I see and importantly think about photography. These are some of my recent favourites.

You are such a refreshing photographer in the sea of photographers here on UA-cam and in general. I truly believe that people will talk about you and your work in the times to come with great respect and joy. Keep on with great work.
Wow, what an incredible comment. Thank you so much!
This is easily one of my favorite videos you've created. I've submitted my order for your new book, I look forward to receiving my copy of your book in the mail soon. I'm a huge collector of photography books. It's always interesting to see what books other photographers recommend. Thanks for creating this video.
I like your video. The comments on the book at end of the video about gear. I once had a 35mm film camera. It only cost me $5.00. The pictures were beautiful. I know what you mean.
Point made! I have a 35mm film camera that cost me £15 and it hasn't let me down in years haha
Brilliant video, Mike. This shows, that there is so much more to photography than going on about kit! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these great books.
I'm loving the Car in Photography photobook. What a great idea! I'd love to get the Matt Stuart book too.
The downside is that for me, like all things photography related at the moment, trying to acquire great photobooks, has somewhat of a high price. I think if I added up the cost of all the photobooks on my Most Wanted list, I'd be looking at a small fortune. Luckily I've got my pre-order in for your book, so that one's off the list!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
It's a shame that these topics don't spark as much interest and gear videos but that's just the way it is. Thank you so much for pre-ordering my book, it means the world! I can't wait for it to be in people's hands soon.
Great video Mike, I have been online purchasing some of the books you spoke about. Well done mate.
Thanks for watching, hope you enjoy them!
Very interesting video. Yes, I would like to see more books! Congrats on your book!!! "Καλοτάξιδο" as we say here in Greece, which means "may it have a good journey"!
Thank you! That means a lot
I have pre-ordered your book. Mike you are wise beyond your years. Always feel motivated when I have watched your You Tube channel. Wishing you every success.
Thank you so much! That’s very kind. I can’t wait for you to have the book, hope you like it.
This was great, Mike! Thanks for sharing. Slowly getting in to picking up a few photo books myself and these are great to have on my radar. I'd certainly love to see more of these videos.
Glad it was helpful! Careful though, it's a slippery slope and soon you'll be buying more shelf space for your collection ahah
Well done Mike, I’m sure your book will be something completely different from most and so refreshing to read, I’ll have to see how I’m fixed
Great video Mike, love the focus on inspirational photo books, ordered one of your recommendations. Did make me feel old when you mentioned not being around in the eighties 😂
haha sorry the eighties isn't THAT long ago... sort of.
i'm so excited to get your book! my first photobook i've purchased :)
Thank you for the support! That means a lot 👊
Great vid Mike! Already a keen consumer of Framelines but have picked up a couple of your other recommendations and look forward to checking them out 👍🏼
Hope you enjoy them!
I've come to realise that I like photobooks more than gear by some distance. It feels like a much healthier version of GAS (in some ways!) as books tend to go up in value, unlike gear. Oh, and it was nice to meet you, JP and Brandon (I didn't quite get his name, so apologies if I've got it wrong) at Trafalgar Square on Sunday a week or so ago (I was with my young son there as he wanted to try some street photography after Brickfest!).
Photobooks are far more interesting than camera gear no doubt in that. Thanks for saying Hi - lovely to meet you and it's good to hear you young boy is already keen! Thanks for watching Mark!
@@MikeChudley More addictive to buy too. Yep, he's keen. Keep up the great work!
Congrats on the photobook! 👏
Thank you!!
Great video man! Congrats on your book! 🎉🙏🏻
Thanks man! Appreciate it
The Creative Act is so good! Thanks for suggesting it!
Congratulations on getting your 1st photography book published. It's a great feeling to actually see your images in a book, my first photography book "Small World" came out earlier this year and I'm still buzzing about it. Will have to order you book.
Thank you! It really has been an amazing process. Can't wait for people to see it. Thanks again.
Thanks Mike for this video. I love such a lot the way you present your photography works and all other stuff, like this with the books. I would like to have more videos like this. I bought now all Framlines magazines, the online version. On a big screen is nice, but I prefer to have the paper version. Keep going on like this Mike, great work! 😃 ❤
this was really dope, thanks for this
Thanks
Thanks. I'd add to the list books about photography (and other art forms) from philosophical/critical points of view. Susan Sontag's On Photography, Roland Barthes' Camera Lucida, John Berger and Jean Mohr's Another Way of Telling, and Geoff Dyer's The Ongoing Moment and See/Saw are but a handful of titles that should be on any serious photographer's shelf. You can pick them up used from a variety of sources.
BtW, you refer to Paul Graham using a "full frame" camera and a "large-format" camera. It might be good to clarify that, as most people today refer to "full frame" as simply a 24 x 36mm sensor, which was only created to get film shooters to try digital. CaNikon knew that people who shot the then-ubiquitous "35mm" film SLRs (135 format, considered "small" in the film days) wouldn't want to buy new lenses. It's astounding how large most cameras used to be (even those used without tripods). Leica's 35mm rangefinders did much to enable "street" photography (ask HCB, Winogrand, et al) by offering a much more discreet option (although Garry didn't exactly blend in).
I would love to buy it, but for someone outside UK, the taxes are prohibitive. Is there any alternative for us the non-UK residents?
Good luck selling this first edition, I am sure you will have a second edition soon...
Really helpful video thanks
Glad it helped
thank you
Welcome!
Thanx for the video 🙏🏻
My pleasure
Roll by Theo Gosselin was mine
Im after the same version of Matts book. Where did you find it? How much is the going rate? 🙏
Satanta books. £180… most I’ve ever spent on a book by far 😂
@@MikeChudley thanks Mike.
Is it only shipped to UK?😢
Worldwide!
Get an ebook lol
Why do they keep printing photos enlarged across the book folds? Destroys the composition completely.
would you review a book i made? I would send you a review copy
