    In this video, you will learn about adding context to your Twinmotion models. Twinmotion uses OpenStreet to import all the data you want for a context model. Using the Context tool will bring in builds, roads, trees, and areas from OpenStreet. You have complete control over all this data as individual geometry after completing the imported context.
    Please leave comments and questions below and I will get back to you!

    yes ! We have to change the mapping mode to cubic to be able to apply textures to context geometry...

    I really learnt how to add context. Just that in my country data available may be limited but will try it out and see what I can get.

      That is good, do give it a try. Because it is so abstract, you might be able to get away with pulling context from anywhere. Best of luck.

    you could move the points of the context box back in 2019 version of epics first release... but since then it doesn't let you adjust it all. for the longest time you couldn't even search for a place either.

      Oh that’s right! My hope is that we can someday adjust them individually.

    Great Tutorial, I've successfully brought in the context model for my project, but when I apply any materials to the roads, grass, building etc. they don't show up. They just show as flat color. Any idea as to why this is happening.

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  2 роки тому

      That is interesting. You might check the materials and if you are downloading any it could be that. I would say restart TM or update it if you can. I’ve had plenty of issues with materials in my day.

    Great works! Is there any way to import the weather, light and post-processing to Unreal Engine from TW?

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  2 роки тому

      Not quite all of that. You can import all the geometry and materials and whatnot from twinmotion but everything else comes from Unreal. Unreal has a template with all of that setup though.

    Hi - Thank you so much for this - two questions - how so you get rid of the skyscrapers in the far background which are not part of the context ? and also how can you place a direct link from Archicad into the context at the right level and site location? Thank you

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  3 роки тому

      1: You can change the "background" by going to the settings tab and under the location you will find background. You can change the default background from there. As far as the direct link from Archicad goes, I am not a user of Archicad but if it is anything like other modeling programs, then the model will be imported into Twinmotion based on the origin of the model. For example in Revit, I use 100' as Level 1 of my model, so all my direct linked models come into Twinmotion 100' high. Not too bad if you know where the origin is.

    hello! I have done this, and my whole "urban context" is wayyyyyy far from my project, that it is actually sitting on the water on my TM prjoect. how do i move the whole context? and move it as close to the one im working on?

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  2 роки тому

      I would look for it in the scene graph. After you make the context, it will show up there. If there are individual elements then I would put them in one folder and move them that way. Select the entire context, press F and you should see the gizmo to move the model.

    • @ricaselva1156
      @ricaselva1156 2 роки тому

      @@ArchitectureVanguard thanks for replying to me quickly! yes, i see it the scene tab, made a 'container' so that all bldgs, and roads are in one folder. but im having a hard time selecting and moving the container as one, pressing F doesnt do anything either. haaalp :/

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  2 роки тому

      When you select a specific object in the folder, the F key should still work unless it for some reason does not work on context. I believe it does, just depends on what you have selected (not a folder).

    Hello! How do you reconcile terrain with the grabbed data? I have terrain imported as geometry. Is there a way to put the grabbed street map data on top of the topography I’ve imported ??

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  2 роки тому +1

      In theory, if you have the coordinate system's lined up, it could work but that would be nearly impossible. You r best bet is to have a smaller site and move the small context you import to the site you modeled. I have not tried this but if I were to it, would be mostly manual.

    • @DevilInARedDress

    When I grab context from the map, it doesn’t include the topography of the site I grab, and all roads, highways, etc. are all at the same height/elevation. Is there a way to fix these issues?

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  4 роки тому

      I assume you are selecting everything and they are at the same elevation. It may be that the selected area is actually flat. It could also be that it is sooooo large that its hard to see the elevation change in the topography. Hopefully I am understanding things.

    you know why when i grab a part from my city ( México ) it just bring a flat result? Like all it places is shapes on the ground instead the volumetric buildings... i have achieveved to place buildings only with france cities

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  3 роки тому +1

      Interesting, I have not tried a ton o places but the US does work. I cannot say I know what to do in your case but my guess is that given the context tool uses Open Street Map, it may be that OSM does not have 3D building information for that area.

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  2 роки тому

      I would look to replace them but because it is context, they are meant to just be a representation.

    does anyone have the problem with buildings being 3x too tall ? for example instead of a 6m building i get a 18m tall one..

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  3 роки тому

      I have not heard of this problem. I wonder if it is a units problem. Not sure what the units are in openstreetmap but if for example that is in feet and Twinmotion is default to meters then I could see there being a 3x difference. Just something to test with a building height we know.

    • @katyxwhatevzZ
      @katyxwhatevzZ 3 роки тому

      @@ArchitectureVanguard yes but it’s confusing since the shape (width x length) stays the same and i already have changed the units to cm-m at my preferences… or maybe it’s like that in europe cities.

      If you are familiar with height maps, you can import those into Twinmotion. When you import a model you can go to the landscape tab and import landscape there. Height maps are easy and you can find them all over the internet.
