So fine. Know and love Jansch's superb guitar work, especially on his variant of "Jack Orion," but on the piece beginning at 22:08 he outdoes himself; the accompaniment captures the feel of the mountain back-country, the mist above a "clear purlin stream," the downwind from the forested heights that clears the mist away, the rising moon that for a blessed moment lights the long axis of some ancient road...
Hi Scott. I was also at the show you mention (I was a U.B. student at the time). A great memory. Also the only time I ever saw Bert and John live, solo or together. I'm grateful to have witnessed it! Added bonus, I can tell people that I saw Ani Difranco play in what was essentially a cafeteria before she was famous...
@@EastCoastDave It was a great concert. I saw Bert and John once more each, separately. This was the only time I saw them together and the only time I've seen Jacqui. I love their music more and more as the years go by. 🤘
I was there too! Bert started off, and just when he was getting in the groove, one of his strings broke! I missed his last tour when he stopped in Buffalo (the Neil Young tour) and have always regretted it. Colin, your books is a gem!
@@natepicker436 I had a cassette of the first set of that show. Used to listen to it all the time. I caught Bert on that last tour at the Town Ballroom and saw John one other time in Rochester. Love their music so much. 🎶
ages like finest wine. love how the tone of older John's voice tells a story beyond the lyrics
Many thanks Colin for preserving and passing on these rare and precious musicians and singers performing so well

sheer gold and the story about not attending an irish music festival is a classic!
wow!! the two of them playing "first light"... just pure beauty!!
What a rare treasure! Three-fifths of Pentangle at a high school in Massachusetts.
Absolutely wonderful, I wish I could have been there.
Another gem; thank you, Colin! Geez, Waltham High School in 1993! What was I doing in my life that I was not at this show?
Thank you . From a lifelong fan.
Absolutely Beautiful
Thanks, Colin. This is priceless! I was a short drive from Waltham in 1993. How could I have missed this?!?!
Bearers of the Harpers and Lilters from bygone days

Dammit i missed him. But his music lives.

This is awesome. I saw them on this tour at Talbert Bullpen at the University of Buffalo with a very young Ani DiFranco opening the show.

Another beauty Colin; thanks so much.
Just listened to this twice straight after one another.
The audio recording is really good quality, and Bert & John were on top form.
I think Bert & John are always on top form! The quality is awesome, and I will probably be listening to this twice straight myself! Thanks, Nik!
Done it again, thanks Colin.
