What I would do to go back 40 years in time and drink a beer in a crowded smokey dive listening to John and Bert without all these new antisocial regulations. R.I.P. Bert & John.
Bert wasn’t kidding when he said his favorite thing was scotch, bourbon and beer. All these years later and sometimes I feel the tragedy of his loss line it was yesterday. Thanks for this rare treat.
This is fantastic. Both sound at the top of their game. I reckon the Black Balloon , parts of which are played here, is one of the great acoustic guitar albums
There is this other solo live recording of Avocet, in Santa Cruz in 1978. ua-cam.com/video/mS5SfXbtzMM/v-deo.html I had a feeling there was another from Japan, but the only live Japanese one I can find now also has Martin Jenkins.
Avocet is out of this world.

Used to see both these guys and Davey Graham in 80s n 90s London ...feel fortunate.
Blackwater Side. Still remains one of his more culturally significant pieces. Dig what this great late guitarist has left us.
