    They released an even newer lineup of chargers behind the “Nexode Pro” label. It’s gotta be interesting to see you testing them out. Especially the Nexode Pro 100W vs Anker Prime 100W as they are both 3-port and similarly sized chargers.

      Yeah, the 140W is on the way. I haven't seen the 100W yet. The next 100W round will be out eventually. I hope UGREEN didn't pull a fast one like some others, it's smaller and newer, and oh yeah, and it's worse than the previous version... ha

    Could you review the CUKTECH 20? I really like the display information and there is already a great teardown showing that the 2170 batteries in it could be replaced (if you have a battery welder and soldering skills). However, as usual, they don't mention whether it renegotiates and/or how well it would work as a UPS, or a lot of other details that you typically have. Your channel rocks!

    Came here looking for petitions to review the new Nexode Pro line and wasn’t disappointed ;)
    I really hope Ugreen outdid themselves with the 160W model so it can match or top the best 140W adapters on the market. At least this is the only one that shouldn’t be a copy of a previous model since 160W is new territory for them.
    I have Baseus’ new 160W charger with an EU plug, and while I’m not sure if it’s even available with US flat prongs yet, I’d love to see how it compares to the Ugreen Nexode Pro 160W. We’ll eventually find out, right? :)

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  5 місяців тому +1

      For the Nexode pro 160W sooner rather than later. For the Baseus, I still have a lot of trouble getting or even finding many of these adapters people talk about as being available. There are fakes and copies too.

      @modecir 5 місяців тому

      Good to hear. Looking forward to that Ugreen review. Tough job for you to keep up with all these releases :)
      I ordered my 160W adapter directly from Baseus on Aliexpress. Comparing EU versions, this new one is slightly more compact overall than their previous 140W model and a little lighter too (260g vs 291g). It’s still “GaN 5 Pro”, so apparently not as advanced as GaN 6, but it’s Pro, though… LOL

    *Watching all of your videos! Thanks.* I would love to know what you think about GaN Switch Mode Power Supplies vs The standard old-guard units? ..just bought a Power Amp that uses a brick, but they have an upgrade supposedly that is GaN version.... Is this snake oil? Anyon else on this comments section have any input on this subject?

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  5 місяців тому

      Yeah, the audio power amp market has a lot of snake oil. A lot of those mini amps are rated at 10% or more THD, totally unrealistic, and with power supply settings that cause thermal runaway... generally they give you a power supply that can't get the amp into that mode but still say it has that number of watts. In terms of how an audio power amp uses power, the GaN power supply probably isn't offering anything different than a conventional power supply. Perhaps a higher switching frequency so maybe a chance at lower noise? They're built cheap I doubt that was a focus in most cases. It comes down to cost and design. There is a tipping point though where cost skyrockets and it's pure snake oil.

    Bro, i bought that 65W robo gan adapter at 2550 BDT (Approximately 21-24 USD) Maybe it's costly because of transit facility from china to USA. BTW, You covered this video based on power efficiency & Doe6. Didn't get why this 65W adapter can't meet Doe6? Will you please elaborate it in upcoming videos? One thing that i notice is that, Though my ipad supports 30W charging, i couldn't get it from this 30W port of this adapter. It hits mainly at 25W. Is there any reason of that ? Or maybe my Charging cable being an imposter here !

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  5 місяців тому +1

      It didn't make it because of the high idle power usage in the case of the Robo gan, yes, there is a tolerance allowance which I don't apply. Debatable on how the test is run since the standard is not up to date with modern USB supplies but for how I run it, it didn't make it.
      25W actual charging sound about right for an iPad, it sounds like it should be working fine. Depends on state of charge of the device too.

    Got a bit of a different question. What are your overall thoughts on the GaN "revolution"? I think most people view it as a net positive but do you think it's more of a marketing gimmick? Or maybe a lazy excuse to stop innovating on efficiency and power quality on the market as a whole because GaN is such a jump anyways? Do you think the cost tradeoff is worth the efficiency?
    Just wondering how someone who is actually qualified and has no bias views the technology in the market as a whole

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  5 місяців тому +1

      The actual gallium nitride technology as a whole is good, mostly the advantages have been in integration though. So, integration of the driver chip, mosfet, and current sense in the same package helps a lot, I wouldn't be surprised if some of these don't contain an actual GaN device. The GaN # is just marketing nonsense though. The actual advantage of switching losses being reduced is just a part of the puzzle, generally the conduction losses are higher. Silicon Carbide is also an interesting technology in this field for higher power levels, like EV chargers. A conventional mosfet circuit can hit 90+% efficiency but due to slower switching speeds may be audible or much larger so the faster speeds in a GaN or SiC device help shrink things. But the transformer, bridge rectifier, output transistors and capacitors lead to a significant amount of losses too. Cost wise, I haven't really seen any differences, UGREEN is selling the 30w adapter for about $10 or for less pretty regularly.

      @@AllThingsOnePlace Of course, the new generation Nexode Pro products look like they are premium chargers, on par with Anker power adapters, I hope so, since unfortunately due to my location it is almost impossible for me to obtain an Anker charger.

    what even is the point of having it be a robot style with feet when I'm just going to have it plugged into an outlet in some obscure corner?
    would've been nice if you could put it on top of the desk for the aesthetics.

    I actually bought the robot because I don’t want the folding prongs after so many of them failed after a while of use due to our shitty plugs

      mmmm yeah, I can say I don't really use many with the folding plugs. I mostly use desktop supplies with removeable cords.

      @@AllThingsOnePlace removable cords are the best imo, but it’s a bit troublesome for light travels. I would get one with it if I’m getting a brick bigger than 100W for longer trips though.

    Yo 250bucks for this garbage? Get a refund if you can haha. Your review got me the Baseus for my Steam Deck. Charges fast while playing.

      Great news you got garbage without guaranty. Baseus has huge amount of defects and they will try to dodge warranty as best as they can.
