Whenever I hear "[Insert Media Here] is mid" from Joey, I immediately put it on my watchlist because that indicates it's actually going to be amazing.

TRUEEEE like Gojo looks like Kakashi but has the personality of Urahara. Obviously there are still a lot of differences between all three characters but I think Gege took some inspiration from Kakashi and Urahara when creating Gojo.
For sure. Urahara has the personality and the unexplained freaky powers. As a manga reader, his Bankai is probably the most interesting of them all. Not quite "infinity" levels of busted, but certainly a crazy ability.

Kaguya Sama Love is War is an absolute banger
I keep telling my friends if Kaguya ended with the series, it would already be a 10. But the end of the movie really pushed it over the top for me. Aka Akasaka is one hell of a writer.

It’s by far My favorite rom com anime and will probably stay that way for a long time. I’m new to anime so imagine my surprise when the first time I don’t watch a recommended show and instead pick my own, I pick that. Made me confident that I can separate good shows from mediocre/bad.
In my opinion it's one of the best rom coms in any media.

I truthfully believe, demon slayer is not as bad as people claim, it definitely isn’t the best, but the story isn’t that bad in the anime (I don’t read the manga). Also the backstory of the characters are so good.
Yeah, but most people assume that just because it’s simple and formulaic that it is bad. It’s not amazing, but you know people haven’t seen that much bad media if they think that Demon Slayer is bad.
I think people are just annoyed it's so popular compared to the writing quality
The thing is people complaining that DS doesnt have a 10/10 story and thats why the show is bad makes no sense to me. Sure if you want something like that DS is prob not for you, but go watch something else! Dont complain but keep watching so just you can shit on the show online for view and clicks. On stuff the show specializes in like the Animation and fight scenes, DS is one of the best.

It's funny, when the entertainment district arc was airing, folks online(including these guys) were saying that Demon Slayer was a great show. Not the best thing ever, but still a great one. Now look at them. If the same thing happens to JJK, then I'll know that anime fans just collectively hate fun.

Why would delinquents be 18 or older? I feel like teenagers do that all of the time. Also delinquents actually used to be really common in Japan, but that was a few decades ago. I’m pretty sure that most delinquent anime is generally just tropes created in the 80s and 90s.
Yeah I'm pretty sure delinquent anime are in reference to when delinquents were a huge issue in Japan. You definitely need cultural context to understand why it exists. Like with the tons of references to the Sengoku Era
Joey is practically Japanese, knows a fair bit about it's history and yet somehow he's dumb enough to buy into the idea that Japanese Delinquents WOULDN'T be a similar age to Mikey or Sakura Haruka - this is the same guy who has seen anime like Cromartie High School. Anime Studios aren't Yet interested in adapting stories like OUT or Bakuon Rettou or Holyland, so of course they're going to adapt the less violent or bleak takes on Japanese delinquency.
I know it doesn't really count, but in almost every country there's high schoolers falling in with gangs and committing crime.

@@jackleaves4948 Dead in terms of quality, I don't deny that the manga is still one of the highest selling, but manga readers are are delusional crowd, these are the type of people that said the Attack on Titan ending is shit in the manga but when the anime aired it turns out to be a masterpiece. With JJK, the delusional manga readers keep praising it, but just you wait, when the current arc is adapted, it will be laughed at by the anime community, so many dumb tropes.

Blue Lock was actually good enough that even I who usually completely ignore sports anime ended up enjoying Blue Lock quit a lot. The author and animators did an excellent job making soccer look like the hypest sport ever

Horimiya even manga staled since hori and miyamura became a thing. Lot of side couple were not developed, the manga just miander until it finished. Joey even said the manga become boring in one of his old videos

My hypothesis is that the lack of staying power for modern anime is due to the seasonal anime format and the sheer amount of anime content we have nowadays. I remember their being like 2 noteworthy anime a year in the early 2010s but now each season has at least 2 anime worth your time; giving us less time to ruminate on the previous anime we just watched.
I don't personally have an issue with season release format but it should be 50 episodes not the usual 13-23 episodes where you only start getting good story progression at the last 3/4 episodes.

JJK is definitely popular from the start. It just seems weird that just because a show doesn’t capture these guys right away, that everyone else feels that way.

My problem with JJK is that it just doesn't hook me super well? Like the fights are great, I wanna see Yuji get stronger, but like, the overarching quest of getting all of Sukuna's fingers just doesn't hit the same as "I HAVE TO DESTROY ALL TITANS" or "I WANT TO AVENGE MY FAMILY AND BECOME A DEMON SLAYER!" (even tho JJK is definitely better than Demon Slayer overall).

One of the best modern anime I feel like is "Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun" and I feel like it's slept on despite it being so, frankly speaking, fun. If you liked My Hero (for a while people were calling the main protagonist Blue Deku) or any other school anime, I think you'd like it. You like isekais (it's technically an isekai), you'd probably like it. If you like shonen anime, you'd probably like it. You like magic schools, you'll probably like it. You like monsters and demons, you get the idea. There's idol arcs, festival arcs, mystery and suspense, there's plot and world-building, comedy, music, love and romance, found family, all the characters are unique and delightful, it has all sorts of canon alphabet (LGBTQ+) content, all in a gaudy Halloween-themed coat of paint. I'm not making a claim it's one of the best anime of all time. I'm just saying for whatever reason it gets overlooked.

Dress up Darling didn't get mid. It just slowed down a tiny bit, but because people only realise that a monthly release is slower than a weekly action packed shonen manga, when they catch up to the manga. Do people complain about the slow Berserk releases or the abysmally slow releases of D-Gray-man? No. Because those fanbases are probably allready familiar with monthly/bi-monthly releases. I always hate this shonen-tarted way of talking about pacing and/or release schedules.

The reason why we wait so long inbetween seasons is because every studio produces way too much garbage. I love isekai and yet I can also say that there are at least a dozen shitty one being produced per year. With all the rest we can easily find 30+ terrible animes per year. That's not yet accounting for the just bad or mid ones. ToG was one of the most watched and has had a big following since the webtoon started like 15 years ago and yet season 2 took over 4 years to release. Fire Force's first and second seasons were some of the most watched at the time and it's expected to take 5 years before the currently planned release date. Log Horizon has taken a whole decade to release a total of 3 seasons lol. Every anime takes 18+ months nowadays but these are some of the most egregious.

Yeah, a lot of those era shows are bad lol. I'm not the biggest fan but I still watch at least a dozen animes per year and yet I would've picked completely different ones for 20-22. Horimiya was a mid anime because it wasn't realistic at all. It tried way too hard to pretend. It was way too corny at times. Just very mid. Frieren will go down the same path as all of those. Quickly forgotten. After suffering through 7 episodes I understood that it would never get better. A boringly slow anime without any actual goal. You watched an awkward girl have awkward moments once per episode and she doesn't do much of anything the rest of the time.

86 is by far and away the best show I’ve seen. It’s the only anime that’s got me to pick up its light novels. I’ve got up to vol 9 so far. Their audio books on audible are decent as well.
Vinland Saga came out 10y before anime so is not that modern but it's the goated nowadays

Calling demon slayer bland plot and then sucking off one piece is crazy 💀 one piece needs that many episodes cuz oda can't simplify an arc into a digestible season. You don't see death note, monster, berserk or vagabond struggling to tell an arc within 60 chapters
At least one piece arcs are different. Demon slayer arcs are the same arc with a different setting and characters.

Lets be honest, the animation quality saves a lot of shows. Its pretty much visual novels with very little animation and shit writing. Hell i cant even find a show to watch other than the main shows they push every season
