I've been falling off the Ihsahn train recently, but gosh, even in just the snippets the Orchestral backing here really sounds lush and fits perfectly, will absolutely be checking this out
i've only listened to a few Ihsahn songs here and there. must check this out now based on the Dylan stamp of approval. and that new Caligula's Horse, LOVE.
Never been on the Ihsahn train before, but I will listen to this one. That new Caligula's Horse album though... blergh. Self-indulgent noodling. They've fallen a long way since In Contact. In terms of anticipation, I'm keen to hear the new Eidola and SUNNATA records.
The band Peccatum is always forgotten in the Bio's, always talk about Emperor and this part of Ihsahn's past is left out. Personally, I think it's a part and shows his progress and where we are today with his music
This album speaks to me like almost nothing else can. I love his other work, but this is a whole different vibe. 5/5 and I don't give those out lightly. It's an instant contender for all time favorite.

After and Arktis are absolute masterpieces! \m/
I appreciate you pronouncing “Ihsahn” correctly
I think Dylan cares more about the pronunciation of names than the other Banger hosts lol

Thanks!

Love his solo stuff. This one has many passages and elements that remind me of Voivod. I'm definitely picking this one up.

Lost in Reverie is a masterpiece. I love his solo material, but I also wish he and his wife would make music together again
It really is a brilliant record. Can't stop listening to it and I also love the orchestral version.
Just bought the CD in Madrid. I have all his personal releases. Can't wait to unwind, pour some nice bourbon, and enjoy it from start to finish! 🥃🤘
This album is Incredible 🔥🤘🤘

New Darkspace (Swiss BM) dropped on the 16th! Now I just need the new Nile (among the best USDM ever) to be released...
I thought it's pronounced "ee-sahn"?
Anyway, spectacular record. Got me to revisit his other stuff beforehand, which has made it a fun listening week.
If you look up Ihsahn saying it himself, he uses the /sh/ sound
@@Malkav65 Interesting, I always heard the other way, but I suppose he would know best.
EE SHAN is the correct pronunciation
Best review by Dylan yet.
Let’s see if Dylan gives this 5 stars
Must be cold in that practice space.
woah, dylan gave something a 4.5/5? i'm suffocating from the surprise!
Because it's not After
@@DesislavIliev the joke is that he gives basically everything a 4.5
@@kilgorin10 I give this joke a 4.5 out of 5
Does he always read too? It was so distracting and not natural sounding
@@dylangowan5092 woop woop!
I see Sylan, I click
Reupload?
Right? I noticed that as well.
I was NOT a fan of the album. It sounds like Ihsahn sat down and watched Disney's Fantasia and then he hit the studio and added his own flavor to it.
Very sterile and boring music IMO. No return value. But, much respect for Ihsahn past works.
This album is incredible! Very creative and proggie with plenty of catchy bits and grand symphonic black metal majesty sprinkled☠🖤👏🧝🤘🧙♂
