  • So now for the real secret sauce of the build. We will go through some really cool interactions with fate-weaving and blood vengeance including the never before seen - 'get repelled' build.
    Also one thing i missed was that in dom6 reborn have a 1/3rd chance of getting an astral random.

    "I ended up twice-borning her but never converted her." Is a pretty humble way to say I never let my god die despite using it in combat constantly.

    Having some freespawn without the downside of popkill is very cool. Add LA Ctis to the ever growing pile of nations I want to play in Dom6.

      All this seems standard LA Ctis stuff, so it probably didn't came as a surprise. But it would be fun to watch if it did.

      Yeah it's pretty funny. "stop hitting us when we try to bite you".
      I hope we get to see this build fight massed Demons; they're one of the stronger counters to blood vengeance given the very high MR.

    I played around with some dom5 blender plus resistances blesses for Tomb Wyrms, and they're also viable, if a bit easier to counter than the blood vengeance build. This can be a good thing if it helps you avoid coalitions.
    I think I was playing with Dominion 5, F3A3W3E6S4D6N3B3 with Magic Weapons, Reforming Flesh, Unaging, 10FR/SR, 6 Strength, 2 Defense (this only brings you to 7, but that means with Darkness up or moderate fatigue from Rigor, stuff starts to miss you).
    The early game is a lot harder than the Titan build, but you can expand (the sacreds are very tanky and with this bless have the killing power to rout indies before getting fatigued out... And you've got the assassins and poison slingers) and your Tomb Wyrms become a unit that packs two per tile and basically trades with whatever is in front of it, hitting at 19 attack skill / 28 magic damage with just the national undead buff plus SoG, dying pretty quickly in turn in melee due to low protection, but also being very hard to kill with mages before Rigor Mortis puts the enemy to sleep, at which point the Wyrms can clean up just about any unit at 100 fatigue.
    And meanwhile you get a rainbow Pretender to break you into all the magic paths.

    Vampiric Weapons is likely the wrong sort of bless for Tomb Wyrms. It's great on things with good protection and lots of medium damage attacks. Tomb Wyrms are not that. Barring buffs like Fog Warriors, they take a ton of damage from whatever they are in melee with; 5 defense and 10 protection will do that to you.
    The AN damage is likely helpful against some targets, but given you have to do damage in the first place, 3 strength is cheaper for the same damage output. And a bit of life steal is going to be insignificant compared to their HP pool; Wyrms in melee that are losing health tend to lose it pretty fast compared to 3 per turn.
    Reforming flesh, in contrast, is great because it heals not just Wyrms in melee, but also those that are being blasted by Evocations; you can just tank battlefield wipes like Wrathful Skies in addition to substantial concentrations of targeted Evocations, especially if you've got hundreds of them and thus the Evocations get spread around.

    LA C'tis kind of seem a bit OP in Dom6... A undead freespawn nation with out a pop-kill dominion has never been seen before in dominions, and they even have reanimater priests on top of that..😲 Seems like a mix between Sceleria and MA Ermor to me...

    • @jb9515
      @jb9515 6 місяців тому +2

      agreed. free spawn needs a price like popkill or its OP

    • @chuckwood3426
      @chuckwood3426 5 місяців тому +1

      The freespawn is fine. They are just skeletons and they are spread out over the nation. Whats more worrying is that their cheap cap mages can all spam sacred tomb snakes 1/turn. That could be a nightmare compared to the fact that only undead priests could do that in Dom 5 and those were limited in numbers. These priests you can get 1.5 a turn from your cap from turn 1. Could easily get 20-40 of them just spamming sacreds by year 3.

    I actually used a very similar build the very first time I played LA C'Tis in Dom5. I admit, my reasoning didn't include the deep knoweledge of the repel mechanic but Tomb Wyrms immediately struck me as scalable and durable punching bags, since they get hit so often why not make the enemy pay for it? I also made heavy use of empoisoners during expansion, small stacks of 3 or so can reliably take indy provinces in 2 turns and help you snowball, altho you'll need to be careful testing the various flavours of PD for what you can accomplish.
    I too ended up not having enough Sauros to use for thugging. The nice hidden perk of unaging is, if you manage to survive into the late game, all your early hires will still be viable and unafflicted. This ends up giving more cross-path versatility, as you end up accumulating more of those rarer 10% extra paths and they stay relevant longer.

    Sure it's fun to see Lucid realize that LA Ctis is pretty strong after years of trashing the nation. I wonder if dom 6 DE will relax on the LA Ctis buffs now or they will just let them be an S tier nation. Either way, it's gonna be an interesting time to be an LA Ctis main!

      Feels like the longdead freespawn should happen in forts/temples rather than everywhere, for thematic purposes as much as anything else, so that could be a good toggle to mess with if they need to do some mild nerfing.

    I wonder if in Dom6 if that H2 Priest will cast Power of the Power of the Grave (+4 Att, +4 AP) on the longdead freespawn consistantly or if it just spams Protection. Especially since they have spears that will help them quite a lot in repelling and scoring hits.

  • @phyvo

    I've been having a lot of trouble in Dom 6 expanding with la c'tis with just scales. The falchioneers and halbrediers are ok, crossbows are great later, but I feel like I just have too much attrition and can't amass the elite infantry fast enough. If I take an expansion bless I can make it kinda workable if I get tomb keepers for early worms but then I'm not researching and I'm having to spend extra commanders on ferrying undead around early on, which then via opportunity cost of cp and mage turns reduces further tomb wyrms and research. Or I can take a monster and have a much easier expansion but then it's a lot harder to have any kind of cool bless.
    I kinda have a soft spot for la ctis though because I was introduced to dominions via a Dom 3 somethingawful la ctis let's play and undead lizard chariots are sick.

    @LucidTactics love this pretender so much totally worth a rewatch. Was wondering, how important is reforming flesh for this build? You can get fateweaving + blood venge + unaging awake relatively easily if you drop the Death a little in Dominions 6

    • @LucidTactics
      @LucidTactics  5 місяців тому +1

      In dom 6 you need mending bones. Not exactly sure what id run in dom 6, but BV and reforming flesh are maybe more important than fateweaving... though high s is really nice on the pretender. Would have to think about it more...

    Vamp Weapons on Repel where it does capped damage of 1. Right? That works? And the Repel works on many enemies at once?
    Maybe a synergy with inflicting enrage on enemy armies? So that they succeed the morale check and take the 1 damage hit?

    • @LucidTactics

    Do Tomb wyms have the inanimate tag in dom6? That tripped me up. You gotta choose between regen on temple snake and living mgaes or tomb wyrms. Tomb wyrms seem like a trap.

    • @ulizez89
      @ulizez89 6 місяців тому +2

      tomb wyrms are there to protect your mages in the late game (since longdead hordes can be easily countered), they are the real strength of the nation. At least in Dom 5, everything you do should serve to protect your mage core (probably the most powerful one in LA, but the slowest and pretty weak too).

    I feel like you either never actually faced LA ctis in an early war or just are completely missing poison slingers somehow (or are choosing to ignore them to make your point?) In Dom5 I won a couple of MP games just by dumping every D gem into the Reanimation spell, backed up by some of the sacreds, plus a line of poison slingers into an immediate war declaration. It is extremely easy to win early wars with them and its mind boggling to me that you keep implying they are "dumpster tier"
    Well, maybe the ppl I played against were also bad (like me) - but how does any nation counter poison slingers in early game without a bless that most ppl dont take? LA ctis is about the last nation I'd pick for an early aggro target, with or without a SC pretender.
    TLDR: poison slingers exist, and its a fact that no other nation has such an easy, early source of ranged AOE damage

    • @DarkSideCookies
      @DarkSideCookies 6 місяців тому +2

      Many top players take poison resist on their bless to minimize the effects of Foul Vapors so that may be a part of why he doesn't really consider them.

    • @LucidTactics
      @LucidTactics  6 місяців тому +2

      Yeah poison slingers are cool, they probably deserve a bit more talking time from me. I think i end up using a few, but im so poor in this game i cant really afford many. They are also matchup dependent - maybe not great vs ranged or PR stuff, but pretty good against high prot elites with low PR.

    • @DemonsthenesDominions
      @DemonsthenesDominions 6 місяців тому +2

      Poison slingers are great and one can totally win wars off them, but they can be countered by Summon Imps or massed shooters on fire archers; the very low protection is a liability.
      The assassins help quite a bit against rushes, though you need Alteration 4 and a supply of nature gems to kill commanders using bodyguards, and some nations will definitely rush you before you're there.

    if only Illwinter would do for EA Yomi and LA Agartha what they've done for LA C'tiss. factions that are difficult because of logistics are less fun than others. LA Agartha being a full-on summon nation, in low-gem LA, with no reanimators, and requires summons or twiceborn to use their signature item? Weird, man. Give Alchemists poison resist and 2H the ability to reanimate shard-guards, 3H to animate Sepulchrals. Bam, fixed faction.
