I wonder if using the Legacy Centre Pin Setting, setting the flash to full power , and using the delay timer , could make long burn high sync possible, a trick I used with two X1t's on top of each other. You'll gain almost two stops in comparison with HSS...
Thanks for a fairly comprehensive video At one level an amazingly sophisticated controller but not for the faint hearted. And arguably more complex than it needs to be for many users. I didn't see discussion on clarifying a compatible Godox transmitter is required for YOUR camera. Subscribed!
Hi, sorry for the late reply. So I have shot with the new controller using rechargeable batteries and have not noticed any misfires. I will continue to test it and if anything changes I’ll be sure to update you, thanks.
Very informative❤👍 Can you confirm if the Sekonic lightmetre syncs only with the one model mentioned in the menu(L 858) or it works with other Sekonic lightmeters too ?
Hi, yes that’s the only one compatible ( second version) as far as I’m aware. It syncs with the Seconic L858 provided the L858 is equipped with a Godox module, thanks.
@@ranjankmsphotography for regular use , I would keep it off, keeping it on disables TTL, and HSS. Now you may be wondering when should you turn it on. You may need it on for fast repetitive burst shots or with cameras that have no Multi Interface hot shoe. In other words most of the times you don't need it on, thanks.
@@florinG Well explained 👍 Now it's absolutely clear to me 😀 I will use X Pro II N with my D850 & Z9, so most if the time I will keep it off only. Thanks a lot ❤️
Hello, first of all, thank you for all the content you share. One thing regarding this GODOX XPRO II, the modeling icon that usually appears at the bottom right does not appear. Why could that be? Thanks in advance and greetings from Spain.
Hi, thanks for stopping by. The icon can disappear when when all groups have been selected and the lamp has been turned off for all. To bring it back on, deselect any group by pressing the ok/ confirmation button and it should appear again. When its back on the screen double press it so that it will show two dashes (- -), after that, select the group you want to control and press the lamp button again now it should show a percentage (XX%) using the scroll wheel you can adjust the percentage to whatever value suits your need. Pressing the button will change to prop/ proportional to the output power, pressing once more turns it off again indicated by two dashes. Deselecting the group and pressing the lamp button again makes all dashes disappear, and you're back from the start. Hope this helps, thanks and best of luck.
Thanks for the feedback. The new radio transmitter seems to be better built compared to the older version, however the wheel even though more firm, it does have some give when moved up-down or left right , thanks.
Love my version 2. Would have got X2T, but gets in the way a bit when shooting and being a bit older now, screen is a bit small. For me, build quality is fine.
Hello . Regarding sync between the xpro2 and the l858d can I adjust power control from the xpro2 and it will sync with the Sekonic. Or is this mode the same as the app mode? I prefer setting power with the xpro rather than the lightmeter. Thank you
Hi Florin I have a quick question: I got the xPro Trigger and the TT-685SII, but I'm having trouble setting the flash to slave mode. I can't seem to switch the mode from Rx to slave on the flash. Do you have any ideas about what I might be doing wrong? Thank you! 🙌
Hi, sorry for the late reply. So depending on the software version, slave is differently labelled, but in your case Rx is the slave mode, it is also easily recognised by an amber screen, thanks 👍
at the bottom of the screen on your XPro II there a an option named sync press the corresponding button under it. A symbol should appear at the top of the screen, after which high speed sync will be enabled, thanks.
Hi, no it doesn’t not seem to turn on when shooting in low light and the camera is struggling focusing. I tested it on different Sony bodies. I will try and inquire with Godox about this and update you once I find out more, cheers.
One issue I had with the XPro-S was that it simply did not work in TTL mode. Exposure was completely unreliable. At least that was the case with my A74 & A7R4. I would like to know if this problem was resolved with the new trigger. Anyone know for sure?
Great comparison and information - Thank you! Wondering about the new Legacy or Center-Pin setting: in this mode, does it allow the TX to be used across brands (as all use center-pin for the firing trip in Manual)? Seems it would be great to bw able to use different cameras with same controller, obviously without TTL control though. Anyone tried or can confirm?
Hi, thanks for the feedback.I never tested it on other cameras, but I believe that it should work. I will put that to the test and let you know, cheers👌
Nice detailed video!! I have Godox V860 lll flash, looking for a trigger. Seems xpro ll is more closer to mark 3 flashes (newer ones), if I am not wrong. But really thinking should I pick xpro ll or the old version? Locking system attracts me, it's same as my flash V860lll. Is there any major change you see, which I am not convinced?
Thanks for the feedback. I think the additional options in the newer version are worth the extra money. In the UK the older version (Godox Xpro) sells for around 50£, the newer version (Godox Xpro II) goes for around 70£, if you don’t need the new features yet, you may find yourself needing them at some point in the feature, therefore I believe the newer one is the better buy, thanks👍
Selecting the hotshot to only the centre pin solves another problem: With the TTL pins activated the white balance gets too warm. I use a hot shoe splitter for Canon on my Nikon camera and XProN to avoid this.
Hi, yes it was not very well built. The second one doesn’t seem to that much different, so Godox did pay a bit more attention to the details like better buttons, better lock etc, but the quality isn’t that much improved, it seems more or less the same, cheers.
I have the trigger but there is no AF in the menu for mirrorless or digital cameras. Can you comment why you have it on your trigger and I don't have it on mine.
If you you’re using the first version of the Xpro it should be the last option in the menu. On the Xpro II it should be the 2nd option on the second menu page. If for some reason, you simply don’t have it may a firmware thing, but I’ll have to come back to you on that, thanks.
@@florinG Thanks Florin for your comments. No it is the trigger. It is Xpro II. Just bought it. Firmware is version 1.0. AF is not in the menu as an option. It maybe a Nikon thing? Not sure.
I have checked, and out of all the variants the Sony is the one to have this Option in the menu. Olympus/Panasonic, Pentax, Nikon and Canon don't have it. Fuji has an Extra option which the rest don't have as well, called shutter with 2 options either leaf or curtain. I'm yet to hear from Godox, but it seems it's an option only for Sony cameras, because as it turns out Sony changed their hot shoe from intelligent ISO standard, to MI although I don't see it fitting the older iISO hotshoe. Don't think there's anything you need to worry about. It's probably not there because you don't need it, I'll also update you when I hear back from Godox, thanks.
Bought the new version, first shoot tapped the unit lightly against a wall when the camera was on my shoulder and the screen died, seriously delicate, Godox offer to 'sell' me a replacement screen and I have to either replace myself or find someone locally to do it. guess you get what you pay for...
That’s very unfortunate. The screen on my Godox Xpro I got scuffed days after just having in the drawer and on the desk. I still think they’re good value,(better bang for the buck compared to ProFoto😅) but I do have to be extra careful with them because they’re pretty fragile.
