It's the best thing ever, I haven't been so hyped in quite a while! That first trailer was soooo much better than World's and IB's reveals. March can't come soon enough!
@@Deaga I pre-ordered it so fast... I'm hoping that a new weapon type is introduced. Even if they don't, the new monsters are already looking quite fierce.
I think my lance is broken.... it doesn't do that lol. Picked up a few tips though. I'm having trouble staying in front of Alatreon, and I'm not being aggressive enough. Thanks!
This fight really demonstrates the health tax that lance has with its shield in endgame fights, if you ignore the Safi health drain set effect. So much chip damage that's hard to avoid outright without suffering a dps loss, only solvable by having a health augment in your kit.
2:25 - How do you chain backwards guard dashes with backhops? I find unless I do an attack first, when I try to backdash with guard my guy turns around to dash the way I inputted. 2:48 - What is that healing? I know you've got a health augment on which explains the jumps in health but at one point you get strong health regeneration continuously. Where is that coming from? I can also see that you're taking damage with every attack you deal. What is this? I've literally cleared this game bar Fatty like 3 times and I have no idea what these things are. Please educate.
For the backdashes, it's important to point the control stick the opposite way of what you're facing; otherwise, you'll turn forward. For the second question, I'm using Safi's set, which gives Dragonvein Awakening. When Dragonvein Awakening is used, every swing will do a little damage, but upon a successful number of hits, you heal, which often ends up being more damage than what was taken. Although the healing seems strong, missed hits and chip damage can quickly wear your character's health down.
Absolutely masterful lance play. I just switched to lance main recently and it's really helpful to see ideas on how to handle certain attacks. I thought alatreon was all about elemental damage, so I was running kjarr ice with ice attack, for a total of like 1000 ice element, but apparently it would have been more effective to have relatively low elemental but good base damage? Anyway, thanks for the awesome technique showcase
🙇🏽 Higher element is a good strategy if one doesn't feel like they can trigger knockdowns for Escaton Judgement (EJ) quickly enough. Kjarr Ice with that much element should be enough to get around 3 knockdowns, assuming one has high damage uptime. Despite its lower raw damage, that setup should be able to defeat Alatreon before it does more than two EJs.
It depends on your situation. If you're having trouble with Alatreon's timer with Escaton Judgement, you should use Kjarr Crest's "Stream." However, it can take time to get Kjarr, and Frostfang is an okay replacement for it. Safi should be used if you have good damage uptime; otherwise, its low element only guarantees one knockdown from EJ.
those counters were really sexy, it was like watching a volleyball game. he passes you the lightning you pass him the counter, three times in a row :) btw how did you get 40% base affinity? is it latent power? you have 10% from expert jewel, 15% base on weapon 5% from attack boost that makes 30% with agitator you have 40% , with safi set bonus you get 20% more, so 60% in total, with Wex you have 110% :) and with latent power you get 120%, nice. and i was wondering how did you maintain your sharpness even without tenderizing the head(30% affinity instead of 50%), nice build indeed, 90%-100% affinity all the time without even tenderizing. notes taken :)
The only part that sucks is when Agitator or Latent Power (or worse, both) runs out and you see the non-crits. I swear 80-90% affinity may as well be 20-30% because sometimes those hits just keep on coming.
@@KCGemini yea, i think that's the bad part of TA, you could do this way faster and easier with mantles,(or affinity booster) palico and wall slams. even without those you barely missed 10 crits, your sharpness gauge wasn't even down to half. I have mad respect for you TA players
👍 However, I wouldn't say it would be way faster as you'll realistically only get one knockdown with the Impact Mantle, and once the Evasion Mantle wears out, then you'll lose that extra damage. Palicos are definitely a miss as Alatreon will target them and waste time that could be used on countering attacks directed at you. 蜂蜜ゆうた non-TA run for Ice Active Alatreon is only a couple of seconds faster than this and he uses said mantles, but he also did the strat where if you smoke bomb the area, Alatreon will land out of one of his flight phases. Unfortunately, it cost him around 30 seconds for the landing to happen. He also used a Kjarr lance, and anyone still running this quest has switched to Safi, so the run can be improved.
@@zolozoro58 You're right, I'm just saying that it wouldn't be *way* faster. I think with that setup and actively attacking the flight phase instead of using smoke bombs, Ice Active Alatreon could be in the 6'40 or even 6'30 range. It'll still requires RNG to be on your side, but at least the Ice Active version has better moves in terms of punishes. Fire Active is too run happy on average, haha.
Coming back to this video since I beat fatty solo and must do the same for Ala. Why are you using the safi lance over kajar(spelling) ones? Is it b/c of the way higher raw? If so do you think the fatty lance will be better to take him down now?
That sounds like the Alatreon/Fatalis experience. They're tough to stay alive initially since they both have attacks that are punishing to block normally, but over time, you get used to them (or use other options) and eventually succeed.
I think you commented on the wrong video. Thanks to Master's Touch, I don't sharpen at all during this fight. However, to answer that question, players often use Protective Polish + Item Prolonger to get 90 seconds of infinite sharpness for sets that otherwise forgo Master's Touch. Protective Polish's effect starts the moment one sharpens their weapon.
@@justsomefurry A combination of Teo + R. Brachy's armor should suffice. Although Safi's armor is good for more affinity and elemental damage, Saber Fang already has a generous amount of ice on it. That combo should also give you the extra affinity needed to stay at 100% crit.

Fantastic run, congrats!
I liked the part where Offensive Guard activated!
The music being stopped for nova was a nice touch. Good sense of aesthetic and a clean run, 10/10 would watch again.
This was beautiful. Even most lance mains won't be able to appreciate some of the things you pulled off here.
It was one of the things that I really liked about Alatreon/Fatalis because they encouraged outside-the-box tactics.
