I was a teenager in Detroit when Bob was only popular there and around Michigan. It's quite the memory that I saw him perform in a bar in Flatrock Michigan with maybe 20-30 people there. Next time I saw him was in a sold out arena in Denver about 25 years later. He rocked the joint and I felt so proud of my homie. I've heard the song "Like a Rock" many times, but somehow, listening to it on you podcast I was listening with new ears. Those soaring drawn out guitar solo's are really something. Even brought some emotion up and got a little teary eyed. A really fun song on his Live Bullet album is "Old Time Rock and Roll". It's great to start off the dancing with at weddings. It's got a fairly long intro that's really fun and if you've never heard it you have no idea what's coming at you.
I can imagine. It gives me the feels now and i will try to listen to this song in different stages of my life. I will probably learn new things each time.
I grew up in small town Alabama. The tracks were everywhere. The train station was boarded up, so no trains stopped for us. Trains were much longer, back then. Sometimes, more than one caboose. Getting out of the car, sitting on the hood was common. Walking down to talk to whoever might be in front or behind was common. Someone would yell “Caboose!!” And you ran back to your car. Memories.
Twenty years now... Where'd they go Twenty years ... I don't know I just turned 53 this summer. Young daughter. Have always enjoyed Bob's music, but as you get older it hits different
My most favorite Seger masterpiece is "Against the Wind." A true masterpiece that contains the best line ever written - "Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." A must listen. ❤
I'm 74 and had a wonderful life, but those teenage years are still with me. Always will be. From a lifetime motorcyclist you gotta hear "Roll Me Away".
I imagine those stick for a lifetime. Im 36 and sometimes it feels im still there in a way. So i guess those years arent going anywhere soon. Thanks for watching and the recommendation!
For me, as a secondary undertone, I feel like this is also reminded us how fleeting time is and the more we age the more we reflect on our past and wish somehow things hadn’t changed.
@@SaeedReacts. The longer you live, the shorter years become, because you're comparing that year to the length of your personal history. When you're 20, a year is 5% of your entire life, but when you're 50, it's just 2%. You've done more, you've seen more, you recognize trends and patterns better... it's just another year, man.
You keep diving into this generation and you're going to need bellbottom pants, love beads and a flower in your hair!! Bob is one of a kind and still rocked into his later years. He just retired but will never be forgotten or replaced!
This was my song in the summer of 86 when this song was popular. Because I was just past 18. Now I'm pushing 60 and this song still brings on that old emotion but from the second verse. Probably my most favorite song of all my life. Summed up in two verses by brother Bob Seger. One of the greatest artists.
Best Artist of All Time!! Greatest storyteller, best voice- so raspy, growly, yet smooth, singing with ease, best heartfelt and meaningful solo's that hit you in the gut, and sang with so much deep passion, meaningful lyrics, and not one bad song... RIP Brother
I love how you are really paying attention to the lyrics, and catching the gist of the messages they reveal. Bob is the storyteller and you will love going down this rabbit hole.
I loved his music when I was young and even more now that I am older. All his music is great but my favorite is turn the page! Keep listening to this great music Saeed.
I was in my 20's when this came out. What it meant then is different than what it means now at 67. LOTS of water under the bridge. Things that were important then mean little now. Time flies.
I have a little more than 10 years on you. The time comes, depending on health and circumstance, when it slows back down. Strange. It flies by, and then you start wishing the time away. I want April to get here. I want the election to be over. I also want my daughter to be 10 again. My dog is 15. My ferret is middle aged. Time is funny thing, isn’t it? Finding your footing in the here and now isn’t always easy. Wish your time away on one hand, and claw it back on the other.
Thank you for reacting to Bob! All his music is priceless. He is such a storyteller with wonderful lyrics. For a different vibe of his might want to try Old Time Rock and Roll. All of his songs are such bangers!
I’m a bit younger than you. But I’ve told a bunch of these reactors, turn the lights down, and just be still. Of course, we sat crossed legged in the floor. In front of the stereo. Probably high. And soaked it up. Maybe not your bunch, but thats how my bunch did it. We had the good stuff. A stereo cabinet, with the turn table on top. Music wasn’t “back ground noise” . It defined us. I’m glad to see these young ones LISTEN.
Nostalgia In Greek, nostalgia means literally, the pain from an old wound. It’s a twinge in your heart, far more powerful than memory alone. And it takes us to a place where we ache to go again
My favorite Bob Seger ballad. The lyrics are beautifully haunting and so deep. thanks for the reaction to this song, reactors seem to skip over this one for some reason but it remains as one of my favorites. I love how you really dive into the lyrics as well. thumbs up.
Bob is the best story teller. His lyrics invoke pictures in my head. The song Miami had me in tear the first time I heard it. You must take a listen to “Miami”.
Sitting watching and thinking while the trains roll by. I remember the long freight trains just like this in the farmland of Michigan where I grew up! Bob Seger came from Michigan seen him many times before he got famous. Few times after also. His catalog is deep. A true living legend.
Bob. Bob, Bob ! When a song can stop the great Saeed pause button then you know you like it! This song is so uplifting. Bob is so uplifting and mesmerizing
Bob Seger belongs with Van Morrison, Carol King, Jackson Brown, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and a handful of others that are recognized equally for song writing and performing.
Bob Seger is probably the best artist for conjuring up nostalgia. He does it so emotionally in most every song. Amazing. I love the similes he uses to compare himself to a rock throughout his life but also love the metaphor of video using a passing train and catching glimpses of his youth between the rail cars. It reminds one of the powerful adage of waiting for the train to leave the station to experience life as often waiting for the journey to start means you missed much of it.
Well said! Only heard two songs, but i felt those emotions immediately both times. And this song is so well written and the video incredibly well done.
💯. Looking forward to more Seger reactions from you. A lesser known one is “Someday You’ll Accompany Me”. Most never heard of it til it was recently used in the ending of the Jennifer Lawrence comedy “No Hard Feelings”. Now more people know it and love the song:)
Every one of his amazing songs takes you on a different emotional journey. Chevy used Like A Rock for their pickup truck commercials for a few years, that was brilliant borrowing from Bob.
Dude, welcome to the rabbit hole that is Bob Seger and the Silver Bullit Band. Nice to have you! You will absolutely LOVE Seger's Roll Me Away, with lyrics! Give it a listen; you'll be glad you did. Also, listen to the whole "Live Bullit" album.
I was standing in line to get a pizza at two guys pizza in Hollywood,when I looked around and right behind me was Bob. My eyes went to his baseball cap. Red,with the words "Peppermint Patty" on the front. Suddenly he took it off and put it on my head,saying that it fit me better. I still have that thing. I wore it forever and now it is safe on my shelf. :}
Me too. I wore out before my time. Between 18, and 30, there was nothing I couldn’t do. Hang that drywall, paint that ceiling, feed those kids, mow the grass. Lay those rocks. LOL, my daughter, while opening the pickle jar for me because my hands are shot, says, Ma, you used it all up.
Hi, Saeed..yes you will feel everything when he sings, and yes, as others have also stated, he feels everything he is saying. Lyrics that make you reflect on your life. Bless you for overcoming those demons, and bless your wife for helping you through it. Your beautiful daughter can see the best in both of you, and loves you both very much. Bob Seger never fails to amaze with his voice and lyrics. Not a bad song in all his music. Pick any from this rabbit hole, and enjoy, umm if you can find a long enough ladder to climb out of Billy Joel's rabbit hole, lol. Than you for reacting, and reflecting on this beautiful song. Hugs to you and your family ❤😊
I love music like this that makes you reflect or transports you to another time and place. Just beautiful. Im in so many rabbit holes right now, but its a lot of fun 😃 Thanks for watching, Debbie!
Chevrolet used this song in their truck advertisements for over a decade, 1991-2004, so I really can’t hear the song without thinking of the car company, lol.
I was blessed to grow up listening to Bob, before he was super famous. He was a local Michigan boy I got to watch in at local outdoor venues as a teen. All his music is great, like 'Against the wind', Mainstreet' or 'You'll accompany me' for examples. ~ For another cool song, ironically enough, called 'A Rock' by Hardy & it has different meanings throughout as well. Cool concept & song.
At 55 this song brings me very close to tears every time I hear it. I think about 1985 being a Jr in high school in a rural area. Strong, tough, looking no other direction than forward. Ideals still anchored in place, a good looking strong kid with everything going for me except the crappy little town lol.
Thank you for your reaction, I loved you got the concept of the verses, such a great meaning! Mr. Bob has so many legendary songs, you should react to 'Come to Poppa' it's a light-hearted song & 'We've Got Tonight' so romantic! He has so many legendary songs, oh & 'Against the Wind', I could go on & on! Much love & peace ❤✌🏼
Surprisingly, this song never gets played on the local classic rock station, and I request it once in a while. This song was licensed by Chevrolet for their trucks so perhaps that may have something to do with that. The video reminds me of my long road trips cross country taking many back roads and the occasional train stopping me for a few minutes. This song is a perfect rock power ballad with a perfect (in my mind) guitar solo that doesn't dominate, but provides just enough strength to keep you thinking about the lyrics. With a similar sounding voice, singer Kenny Rogers has Twenty Years Ago with a similar theme, which you may like.
AND HE USES THE WORDS ' AGAINST THE WIND ' SAEED 😊WHICH WAS A HUGE HIT💯 AND A GR88888 STORYTELL FOR SURE AND FROM HIS ALBUM ( AGAINST THE WIND ) LOL 👍THIS SONG HERE SAEED DOMINATED THE TV SETS IN THE ( 90S ) FOR CHEVY TRUCKS

Great song. Will add that one to my list. I recorded a reaction to his song Give Heaven some Hell. That video should be coming to the channel this week.
Love Bob seger I wish I saw him live I seen a lot of bands live from Skynyrd to Supertramp to the Allman Brothers to Dylan and the dead but Bob seger has an array a great songs do fire down below next please
Yah, you really need to go back to the Night Moves album and listen to the song called Rock & Roll Never Forgets. It hit the radio waves when I was 18, and was a song I went back to again and again in my 30s, to remind myself to stay connected with the music and the memories of special times.
Seger's catalog is legendary. What separates Bob from other artist is that he FEELS every word he sings, and you will too.
