This is the method I use - and it works! I've just got back from a Mediterranean heatwave, up to 40 degrees, and my make up stayed put. I pushed that powder in with my sponge, left for a couple of minutes, dusted off, then brushed more on top of the t zone. My skin felt so soft. I love the Korean silica powders for this method, especially innisfree no sebum powder, as it doesn't cake, bunch up or pool in pores. Even when I got really sweaty, you couldn't detect the powder. It looked fresh after blotting and reapplying too (with the same damp sponge).
I discovered this by accident when I was on a recent trip and failed to pack all my brushes. Glad you did this video because as soon as I got home I defaulted back to a brush, totally forgetting how good this method is!
I’m so happy to find my age bracket for makeup!!! Omg...yes! I’m 44 years young by the way. I recieved a sample of Ciate Translucent powder and I had no idea what that is! So here I am. And yes, you look amazeballs with the powder on! Thank you for this. I’m sure it takes a lot of time to do these videos. Much appreciated. (Please don’t tell me she gets paid for her time, I’m aware;)
Yes!!! This little trick is genius! I recently tried this trick after seeing on several videos from other UA-cam. Patrick star actually did a video on extre long wear foundation I thought it was hilarious but it's the same message! My husband thought I was crazy when he first saw me doing it but l am obsessed with the Josie maran foundation and the only way I can wear it. Thanks for this video!
I am just so happy that I found your channel (I'm obsessed!!). We share the same skin tone, undertone, and type. Everything that you recommend has worked for me perfectly. Thank you for all your great content!!! Rock on!
Tried the beauty blender and rolling of Prarie powder and was pleasantly surprised at how good it looked. I was one of those that used a big IT powder brush. Thank you.
This is exactly how I apply my powder too! I wait several minutes after I've applied my foundation and my natural oils are coming out and then I use a blotting paper. Then I apply my setting powder with my real technique sponge. Sooo much better for oily skin! Very important for me to blot first.
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for this channel. I'm turning 36 soon and have definitely noticed my skin starting to change, and it wasn't until I stumbled onto your channel that I realized it was related to ageing 😆, I guess because my skin has been a certain way for so long. I was wondering if you could touch on what resources, if any, you found helpful when your skin started changing? I plan on researching myself but suggestions are always great.
I have a question if u don't mind answering. I have dry skin and use a hydrating liquid foundation. Shd I set it with powder then move on to blush etc or not? I prefer powder blushes btw. Thank u....!!!
Hi! Some dry skinned people don't like to set their foundation. But if you have a nice powder, it's a good idea so that your powder products you apply on top apply smoothly and not patchy. :)
@@StephanieMarie You're SO sweet because you always reply to me! This kind of regular interaction between you and your subscribers shows you really care about our issues. Thank you for being a wonderful human being! Also which is better for dry skinned ppl: the no. 7 perfect loose powder or Mac's skinfinish natural?
@@HH-yz7vx Aw thank you! I love interacting with you guys! Sometimes life moves fast and I get way behind and feel badly about missing some questions. But with growth, that just happens - it gets harder to keep up. But I really do try! :) I think both are really nice powders. To set, I'd go with the No 7 though. I like the MSFN to finish after makeup is all finished. It has a slight tint to it which blurs and airbrushes finished makeup while the No 7 is translucent and better for setting foundation. 😘
@@StephanieMarie Wow! Thank u for explaining it all so well to me. I've always wanted to have a personal makeup artist who is also an nc25. Now I do! Much love to u .... wish u even greater success!! ❤
I used to always apply the setting powder last, after bronzer and blush. So I should apply before is what I took from this video. Do you also apply more setting powder after your blush and bronzer?
Hi Michelle, I have an entire playlist dedicated to powder and another setting powder video here that may help ua-cam.com/video/XytYQBrV-Ek/v-deo.html and a video on everyday contouring, bronzing and blush: ua-cam.com/video/8soQPWqzU_I/v-deo.html . These should help you. :) This finishing powder video may help as well: ua-cam.com/video/4Cl00nx9-pg/v-deo.html 💗
Hi Stephanie. This is a great technique. I have pretty normal skin, but it seems to drink in foundation! So I've recently been using translucent powder to see if it helps it to last longer and it does. I will definitely try this technique with the beauty blender, as I've just been using a brush. Thank you so much! You look gorgeous! Have a wonderful day. xoxo Daphne💞
I just found your channel & I'm loving your videos for us oily/combo people! I'm definitely going to try your setting trick, but since I use a mineral powder foundation, I may do it pre-foundation. I was just wondering if how you do it shows up in flash photos? TY!
+AmandaF116 Hi! I've not had an issue unless I'm using a particular product that causes flashback. Since it's not "baking", it doesn't cause the same issue for me. Hope that helps! Thanks!
Does this technique work for normal to dry skin as well? I'm really late to the make up game...didnt start wearing it until my 50's! Also, I use cream blush...MILK Makeup... can it be applied over the powder. Sorry for all the questions but I am learning a ton from you so THANK YOU!❤
I've heard of many dry skinned people using this technique. It works because it melds the powder into the skin vs having it sit on top of the skin. You need to use a powder that's good for your skin type and you should be good to go. Yes, apply your cream products under your powder! Thanks Nancy!
+Rebecca Rankin I haven't tried it with pressed. I prefer to set with loose. I find it looks more natural to start. I do touch up with pressed during the day though. Thanks for watching Rebecca!
Hi Stephanie Marie, I'm a teenager and except for johnson I am allowed to use no other products. Can you suggest me after I apply the moisturizer how can I apply the baby powder in my face?
Yes. I've used it dry but prefer how it melds into the skin better when it's damp. I have a more recent video in my foundations, concealers, powders playlist if you want to watch that one. :)
When I use LM powder, over Makeup Forever foundation, the finish looks really powdery and gross. I use the puff to cake powder under my wyes and a kabuki brush to apply the rest. Am I doing something wrong or is it the products?
I'm not sure. I've never had that happen. I've heard of that happening with her Universal powder but not the translucent. But I don't cake the powder and I don't use a brush for that reason. A damp sponge helps it meld into the skin better than a brush does in my experience. I have a more recent powder setting video in my foundations, powders, concealers playlist that may be helpful as well! :)
i dont use foundation at all, i just use powder. sometimes if i dont prime my face or make it less dry looking, after applying powder i can see lots of dry patches >__
I have the oiliest skin I swear! I've been doing this and it helps tremendously but i find that it makes my face too matte for my liking as I still want that dewy glowing skin.. I just can't seem to find the perfect balance as I always look too matte than I'd like.:(
Thanks for the video. Unfortunately, Laura Mercier is not cruelty free, even though they claim to be. I do appreciate your method though and will try it with a cruelty free brand.

Fabulous info. I love that you are real and my age. Baking doesn’t work for wrinkles!
I'm just discovering this now and can't believe how useful this is! It's not wasting any product so that's also a plus.

Do you use the same beauty blender for your powder as your foundation? Thanks!!
+Christina Barnhouse Yes! :)
great tip, I actually never powder after foundation, I like the glow haha. will try on under eye area maybe . thank you
Amy pham berthod That's great if your foundation stays on without powder! That's impossible for me to do unfortunately. :( Thanks for watching!

How can I avoid my puff/spong from absorbing the color of my cream or liquid brush?or is that really just a part of it?
Does the beauty blender need to be damp before dipping in the powder?
I do use the same sponge I used to apply my foundation, which is usually damp. I do, on occasion use it dry.
Thank you so very much for your tip!! I have struggled for years with oily skin. Have you used pressed powder using the same method?
+Rebecca Rankin I haven't tried it with pressed. I prefer to set with loose. I find it looks more natural to start. I do touch up with pressed during the day though. Thanks for watching Rebecca!
What is the name of the paint on your walls? It is perfection
+Michelle Cobble Benjamin Moore Quiet Moments. Thanks!
Nice video. Is your beauty blender wet?
i love your video so much and will do your technique🌠
I'm a new subscriber, love your videos!
+Patricia Puente Thank you so much! :)
Can this technique be done over powder foundation or just for liquid foundation? Thank you!
Yes you can set your powder foundation as well. 😘
@@StephanieMarie Thank you!
Hi Stephanie Marie, I'm a teenager and except for johnson I am allowed to use no other products. Can you suggest me after I apply the moisturizer how can I apply the baby powder in my face?
I have little dry skin.
Is your beauty blender damp when u put it in the powder? Thanks.
Yes. I've used it dry but prefer how it melds into the skin better when it's damp. I have a more recent video in my foundations, concealers, powders playlist if you want to watch that one. :)
Hi, I have a question first I put a primer, then foundation, then a concealer and the the translucent powder?
Yes! Some put concealer on prior to foundation. Play around to see what works for you!
Thank you for the information 😊😊
I love videos like this, this is the nicest explanation that I've ever seen, thanks a lot!💜
Thank you Denisse!

You are pretty🥰
Thank you! 😘
Thanks for the video. Unfortunately, Laura Mercier is not cruelty free, even though they claim to be. I do appreciate your method though and will try it with a cruelty free brand.
Does it work with no foundation?
I’m sure it would. I’ve done it with powder foundation so I think it would work no matter what.
