I just wanted everyone to know that this is a completely anime only scene that isn't in the manga. They had no reason to go as hard as they did. And i do appreciate it! They really do make the Seraphim feel like their a bigger threat than they we're in the manga. Haven’t watched one piece since the end of Zoo, but I remember the attack of zuneesha on Jack: they added a closeup on Jack face as zunesha trunk closed in and with a split in half before switching to the manga panel of the boat being obliterated. This is TOEI. They have very good working standards and many animatiors loves working with them be it freelancers or employed cause they have unions and stuff and one of the very few countable companies which pays well. It's also probably the only the only studio which allows for various animation style to be incorporated and allow them to grow inhouse and use it whenever the animators feel like it. This is from Vincent chansard, a veteran animator who has worked for multiple big anime studios and animes.

And this fight is kinda filler tbh since like the other commenter said, but that's completely fine for the above reason. They do need to stretch out the episodes more since the anime is quickly catching up to the manga.

So in order to progress the story, they either need to add fillers in the middle of the arc (or in-between arc as to not disturb the story) or stretch unnecessary things or just straight up create a different story than the manga. All of them are bad especially the last one. Since One Piece is a weekly anime, they had no other choice but to use one of the three. I'm glad they choose the second option most of the time, since if they decide to add fillers in the middle of the arc (like Naruto and Bleach), that would severely disturbed the story pacing rather than just repeating same animation over and over or stretching some panels. Also, you forgot to account Oda's break. Sometimes he decided to take a one week break after 2-3 chapters.

I remember there was a show called world trigger. pretty mediocre show but it had some really good balltes later on after season 1. They had a moment like this when they put extra resource in season 3 and omg did it make the difference, this really reminds me of that. I almost wish studios had extra time to make most show this good .

Animation was insane but the music killed the intensity, it was a great fight but I almost wish they saved this type of animation for a more all out epic battle rather than a casual encounter that they didn’t even fight back against
The one week break did not improve the animation for this week. It helped improve the animation of the next big ones. One week is not enough time to animate something great and if it did, then you know the schedule is terrible and they barely made it. But then the episodes that come after would look like shit.

@memingmania because it usually does. One piece glazers have just had mid animation for 20 years and get some smoother animation and call it #1. Literally look at any vid talking about it. They usually just smash in a bunch of random effects and blur things together. Quit capping.
