- Very satisfying restoration on an old trailer. This is a video of me rebuilding a flatbed trailer. I bought this trailer recently and tried restoring it back to its former glory.

Did you realize with that being an angle iron frame trailer and not channel or box, that that the side rails are part of the framing. Your capacity just decreased significantly. Check out any true no rail equipment or car hauler trailer the frames are always c-channel or tubing.
Wish I new that when I redid it. Thanks for letting me know though. Very interesting… Unfortunately it’s to late to go back. I guess my load with be decreased.
Add a 3x5 or 3x4 angle iron on the sides in front of the axle. basically weld them to each cross member. that should help regain structural integrity.@@cheekyspencer
overall your craftsmanship is good, and that's coming from a shop teacher. so good job on that end. see my other comment about regaining some structure.@@cheekyspencer

I had to put caps on the ends of the front rails because the hole was open after I cut it.

Doesn’t this make it a bit “weaker”?
I think it might have, I didn't like the railing on the side when I would load a car or truck. It would be a pain to open the doors so I wanted to get rid of the railing. Also the original railing was poorly built. (bad welds, etc)

I don't think I ruined it. I didn't prefer the railing on the sides.
