What a fascinating video, thank you for making this! As someone who is learning Welsh it’s inspiring to delve into the history behind particular words and giving them context helps to (hopefully 😬😁) remember!
Oh my Odin! I love your videos. You are mesmerizing and so knowledgeable. I watched you for the first time yesterday and subscribed right away. I have been enthusiastically watching video after video...Thank you for being such a powerful and wonderful teacher. I am hooked! 🤗🙏❤️
Beautiful voice! So refreshing to hear a woman's voice properly pitched! It's so incredibly healthy!! For body and soul!! You've made a retired voice teacher very very happy. Bless you! Francis
I am an initiated Pagan priest and wish I could go down the pub and talk your face off 🙏⭐️ I am more eclectic now but was trained traditionally. In live in north wales and the place is steeped in energy, history and I feel at home here spiritually 🙏👍😊
An American viewer, found your book on a local store shelves and decided to give it a try as I am currently getting into witchcraft myself and so far really enjoying it thanks!
Mhara, it is always a joy to watch your videos. I have gained so much information and truly think your videos are part of a dynamic shift in my interests. Finding clarity in questions I have had for a long time. Thank you for the hard work and content!
This is such a lovely surprise. It is awesome to get to know you. I have ordered your book as I have a very deep connection with Wales as I was born in Bangor and lived my first few years in Amlwch Port. I was also touched by (who I believe was a witch) when I was born as I was born with a purple birth mark over the entire side of my face and one of the nurses at St. David's took me from my mother and covered my face in Gentian Violets. Once the stain was removed the birthmark went with it. I have spent many years calling myself a Welsh witch especially as I was born on Halloween, but it wasn't until now that I can actually research the topic. Thank you for doing this! Super excited about your channel and book!
I recently discovered your channel. I thought I should tell you how much I enjoy your videos. I especially appreciate the time you take to teach the history of Welsh practices and the language. I don't know who they are, but I know I have some Welsh ancestors. Your lessons make me feel more connected to them. 💜
Your videos are exactly what I’ve been looking for for a long time. I’ve been fascinated with Celtic mythology and witchcraft for a very long time but it’s been difficult to find information that is accurate or taught by a person who actually practices authentic witchcraft from her native land using the language and folklore she grew up with. Thank you so much for sharing your craft and knowledge it is very appreciated, keep doing this wonderful work.
What a beautiful blouse you are wearing...... The Welsh language fascinates me... I am now reading your book and would love it if you would do a video showing us how to pronounce words like "Cyfarchaf," Nuwies" that are in the prayers to Rhiannon or in the rain charm etc. Magical words!!!
I believe that a wise woman w once lived on the piece of land I own. Her hovel has gone but her garden persists.. She has guided me to herbs. Their purpose have provided prophecy. I have seen her once as an act of violence was perpetrated against her. She has become my guide in many ways. We don't share her language but communicate via empathy. I know her as Mamsy.
Witch trials were absent in Ireland and also rare in the Marches, especially Shropshire. I believe this is due to the continued allegiance to Rome in the west during the Protestant Reformation, although Lancashire would not fit my thesis.
I heard Mhara speak at Witchfest International in 2018 .She said the Welsh were more worried about the fairy folk. Also they didn't want to do what the English were. Also the Catholic Church did the burnings in Europe.
@@emilywyatt9340Not universally across Europe and the UK stands out as persecution being largely in Puritan area. Yes the fae are far more important to the Welsh, some of which is mirrored in the Marches.
I am finding this fascinating but I have to stop for a while to take things in. I wonder if I'm too old to learn it all. I am Welsh, my mother always referred to the Welsh witch . Is there a specific place to start please? Since a life charging "accident" 11 years ago, I have literally changed being "me". The closest I can say is I had a stroke. Now after rehabilitation in all areas of my being, I have this desire to understand the difference in me. I am more than drawn to your channel. I struggle to read and remember but "listening" is the best I can do, in smaller chunks. I just don't know where to start. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏
i'm welsh and I have been trying to learn witchcraft and I want to learn more about my cultural witchcraft. I'm only 11 and started practicing a month ago and i'm lost! Any tips?
Enjoyed this very much, diolch yn fawr. May I ask three questions of you, please? The first: I expect you are aware that there is a little stream in the Cambrians that feeds into the Towy-fed reservoir of Llyn Brianne, called the Gwrach. I'm wondering if you know anything about why it might be called this? It isn't ugly or monstrous. I've been on a sacred journey through south-west Cymru, for 7 years (the Song of Ffraed) and this confluence is right at Her eastern-most reach. The second is: Do you have an authentic term that is cognate with the Irish Gaelic, "bandrui" (female druids)? Third: Would a Gwrach compare with the Scots Gaelic, " Cailleach"? Hope you can help. Thanks. Oh, just thought of this...I met a spirit witch, on the journey, and had a conversation with her. Her name is Eirwen.
Is the word related to gwyddion at all (excuse me if I have spelled it wrong, I've only begun to learn Welsh and only ever read stories with him in in English)

Diolch yn fawr for the detailed language lesson! Little nuances like this are often lost to us language learners, so it's very valuable indeed.

I've searched high and low for Richard Suggett's book. I cannot find it anywhere 😫
I found it on Amazon for $949 ouch

Eirwen - Great name. A contraction of the Cymraeg "Eira Wen" ... literally "Snow White"
@@MrChatternatter Thanks, indeed. I loved it too, when I found out what Eirwen translated as. The Song of Ffraed blog has the story on it, White Snow.
