I remember that when you had basically only the frame pieces laying on the floor and I was thinking like "oh no this is not going to end well" and now you have 240z with bmw v10 that is running. Just wow, I'm really impressed. Great work!
Dude I felt the same way. I was sweating when he was dealing with the wiring. I was feeling overwhelmed with all the wiring and I wasn't even there....lol.
with the kirkey and your harness bar dont forget the back brace those seats require it in case of accident and fold over. only know because ive been doing a ton of research for my own project and lightweight seats. i have seen people go without but kirkey says to use one.
Hey Chris I felt like I had to tell you this... don’t forget that the engine is in base(400hp) mode at the moment. Once you’ll hit the M button on the steering wheel the engine will go into the bmw default(507hp) so the sound/bass/volume will go up and it will sound different. Just thought of putting my 10 cents in. Can’t believe how far you’ve gotten with the car. I still remember the reveal of the cars haha.
hey just writing this because not many people know , but kirky seats or any aluminum seats require a brace from the harness back to the back of the seat because they can bend in on you in accidents and the brace is supposed to prevent that. I know you probably don't care about being "FIA spec" but just letting you know
Over the last couple of years I've had some pretty serious mishaps involving car repair and modification. I can blame some of it on drinking but for the most part it's just a serious lack of preparedness and being under confident and becoming my own enemy. I just want to say that I have a 76 280Z that I bought back in 2011. I've been sitting on it for years wondering when I would finally do something about it. About 2 years ago my Infiniti G37S decided it was time to have some pretty serious engine failure. When I attempted the repair one of those mistakes I mentioned a few lines ago happened. I lost pretty much all of my confidence and didn't even want to turn a wrench. The thing is I've been fixing things and modifying them or otherwise making things work after most said they wouldn't since I was very young. Watching you and what you're doing here has slowly but now conclusively brought me back to where I need to be. In fact because of you and mr. A21 Bravo, not only is the 280 about to start getting a lot of work, that Infinity is about to undergo a pretty serious heart transplant 😃
I can't say how proud of you I am, Chris. Busted out a ton of stuff, and finally getting started on the floor, tunnel and firewall. Time to take this project FULL SEND. ON TO SEMA!!!
This is an awesome video! I like when you bring more people than just Eric in. Especially when everyone is working just as hard it shows by everything that gets done! It’s amazing!
Looking at the factory tech documentation... Pretty sure the drain on the oil filter is gravity based. I don't think yours would drain until it equalizes (not ideal)
Someone put a Viper v10 crate engine in a 72 240z back in 2005 you could look for some inspiration there, great build though keep it up, been here since you had the two rails sitting on cinder blocks haha
So pumped to see this beast in person at SEMA. I typically stay at AAPEX to avoid the crowds but I will most certainly take the trip over this year. Great work!
Hey there.. I am watching this build unfold with bated breath. This is a huge undertaking, and I can picture the end product. With SEMA around the corner you have your work cut out for you. Cant wait to see the next episode.
Well done Chris & Co... when you first talked about this I thought "there is no way hes gonna get that V10 into a 240Z".. I'm quite happy you've proven me wrong!! Cant wait to see the finished car!!

LPT: Grab a few cheap pairs of shorty socks to cover your intake stacks while you're working. Should keep most of the nonsense out of the cylinders while you're building this amazing beast! Keep it up, the progress is awesome to see.
You made so much progress in one episode! It’s really coming along guys! You need to hire them full time and take this channel to another level Chris! And let me come work for you! Lol I am a Subaru technician and love working on cars. It would be my dream to put my love and care into a vehicle that could reflect it back.
I'm in love with this build. You know those days that your having such a good time you don't want it to end? That's how I feel watching your videos 😂 Epic stuff.
Bro this was just a beautiful orchestra of creativity and construction . Y’all really need to get together and do this more often. Now I know y’all got lives and I get that. But this 😢this is just beautiful 😭😭
the design language of these old japenese cars is so beautiful and unique already that it really doesnt need body kits especially the fairladys btw awesome channel
I can't wait to see this thing finished... I love 240Zs, I love hotrodding of all kinds. I have crazy ideas like this, just no place to work or tools to do this sort of thing! this is perfect! Some day, I'll be able to do it though!
When you go to clean that engine bay use scrubbing bubbles. Learned that trick from Tom's Turbo Garage and it's worked wonders on a few pretty nasty engine bays.
I love how when he first announced this project everyone at the beginning said this project was going to be way over his head. Now those people have disappeared and he now has the car idling and reeving and will possibly go forwards and backwards in the garage.
Every time I see that oil filter I think of how much of a mess it will make when he takes the cap off. The car is looking great though! Keep it up BIFB crew!
That sounds incredible and that's not the full rev range! I'm a stickler for the L series (I have a stroker motor in my own 240Z on my channel) but that V10 is something else! Good luck with the rest of the build.
Man I am in love. This beast is coming out amazing .. I want to drive it heck I would love that as my daily driver .. I can’t wait to see the finished product.. what color at your aiming for .. I think BMW electric blue will deff do it justice .. awesome content
I think Chris should pursue owning a shop in the future with multiple staff like Eric and some of these other guys. I know he already does this in some sense but similar to Cleetus. We'd get to see the cars driven more and a bigger and better workspace. Idk, goodluck Chris. Love the work.
The really f****** fun part is when you have to take it all apart to paint it LOL. Build is coming along awesome crazy how everything is being shoehorned into place I definitely do not envy you for having to paint this afterwards
I'm one more of the ones who don't believe Chris will put this to work..... so impress and so ashamed of loosing faith in you champ.... congrats and keep making us dream on something you are making a reality...
I'm mostly interested to see how the floor pans will work, but yeah to mimic some of these people, i had massive doubts about the SEMA goal and this guy with a pile of metal and parts and an engine, now its a running and driving... chassis? i wanna see this thing buttoned up! Man that's gonna be awesome!
I'm happy with the choice of these seats. The low back seats were a really bad option and made no sense with a roll cage. Now the car has function and form. Nice one 👍
Chris in the interest of time I think it would be better if you just sprayed the outside of the car with the engine in it, and then after SEMA you can take the engine out, spray everything, and do the rod bearings in one go. Also everyone will be able to see Eric's pretty welds before they have time to rust :)
I have a feeling that you need extra vertical supports for the front strut mounts towards the frame rails. Under stress that front upper tube frame will probably flex like crazy. Nonetheless amazing work!
I am so jealous that one of you guys were working in a sweatshirt, here in miami it’s 90 degrees and I’m still sweating through 3 t-shirts a day !!!! I want to move to America !
I love this build! I can't wait to see it done. I hope you figure out the rear fender flares... Crazy idea but why can't you cut then at the top of the arch and extend them with a piece cut from the other flares you have??? IDK maybe just an idea.
Just in case anyone wants to know. The reason the Rocket Bunny doesn't fit quite right is the kit was made for a stock 240z axle locations. The rear axle is farther rearward relative to the body than stock. This makes the wheel opening of the kit too far forward. When you slide it rearward to line up the wheel opening the door gap is in the wrong location. When you are dropping a shell on a chassis you will save yourself lots of pain if you mark the shell axle center lines on the body above the wheel openings. Ideally, mark these before the shell is pulled from the stock chassis. It may be that the car looks awkward relative to the wheels when it is done. If so, a rear extended spoiler with side panels or an extended rearward rear wing with side panels. This will have the effect of stretching the tale of the car and make it look more balanced toward the rear of the car. If you have a choice, position the body in the stock location or rearward a few inches. Better to have a stubby nose and a long tail than a long nose and a stubby tail. It just makes the car look sleeker. If you want it to look more aggressive, drop the nose and raise the tail a couple of inches from stock. If you are lowering the car, lower the front more than the back. You can correct minor stance problems with sweeping paint lines are a good way to cheat things like this.
I remember that when you had basically only the frame pieces laying on the floor and I was thinking like "oh no this is not going to end well" and now you have 240z with bmw v10 that is running. Just wow, I'm really impressed. Great work!
I hope one day I can do stuff like this
Dude I felt the same way. I was sweating when he was dealing with the wiring. I was feeling overwhelmed with all the wiring and I wasn't even there....lol.
Levi Betz he has bags he can lower it if he wants. Plus he’s gonna cut up the fenders so it should be good.
@@Levibetz the car is on bags so it doesn't matter
It still won't end well... there's "driving" to come.
Eric better be with you at Sema. With everything he has done in the past months and more. Now with this amazing project. Eric must be there.
Oh he will
This is always my favorite part of any build. Right when the haters start to realize they were wrong!!! Great work guys, keep making us proud!!!!!
Demitri Solvinski just cuz he built it doesn’t mean he built it right.
you try it then
After you finish this you should take this to a BMW dealer to get a oil change or service check, and record there reactions.
Hell yeah!
Oh my god yes
*their
i want to see this car when its done on Jay Leno's Garage
yuuuuussssssssssssss
And on Hoonigan’s build biology
lets all spam jay leno to get him on
let’s all spam jay leno’s next video and hoonigans
maybe you should do it when the car is actually finished?

Judging by the very high speed of the "working" time lapse sections, you guys got a helluva lot done today!!
There is a major deadline here and that adds a lot of drama & excitement. Much different than the fake drama written into TV shows. . .
i honestly hate the deadlines for these builds. rather he do the builds right than rush through another build.
It has a west coast customs feel....lol

This car needs to be called the 240M when it’s done.
Shayan. A 240M5
I was thinking 10z
M240
M245Z was thrown around earlier, liked that idea the most
Shifty M245Z is just a mouthful. The name needs to be simple, in my opinion.
Love this series so much

This is the most badass build on UA-cam. From scratch. Props to you chris

Yes the oil filter housing should not be mounted the way he has it.

show me a better!
im not quite sure about "The best" word on this build...
this is just a restoration, not a card built from zero.

I must say the EDIT was the star today. Good job on the car but the edit flowed so well.
Nobody knows the EDIT is harder than the build.
man this thing is coming along very nicely. so glad you got back up to work in this build

Chris! I’m am continually impressed by the progress and build! You are doing a great job. Keep it up!!
New seats are bad ass, I had those exact seats in mind when you started chopping this car up as i knew you were going to be limited in space.
Man Chris, you're assembling quite the team! With this squad, you can tackle anything!
How many times have you guys tripped over the front bars?
lol same question
Your workforce got bigger! Congrats

Great to see a team effort on this! Do love that exhaust sound-like music to my ears😋👌
Great work Chris, Its working out really well.
I really really love the build! I know the car is far from finished yet. But I love the car. Its beautiful!
Tig welding releases massive amounts of UV light which burns your skin as well as eyes.
I like the new "steel" seats
