    Do you split the wood so it's easier for the user to lift and load into the boiler? I'm guessing if it was rounds for a three year period they could go in boilers whole??

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  4 дні тому +1

      I and most all people split wood so that it drys better and burns better (more efficient) and is easier to handle. You can fit way more wood into a boiler if it is smaller than just a couple big massive rounds.Big rounds will burn longer most of the time because they are wet inside and or there is more surface for fire to ignite on it with smaller DRY pieces.

    Is that the chainsaw bar have one straight side and one curved? I believe if it's curved it goes towards the log. Could be camera angle. Checking Kenny from Western North Carolina

    Chris, how long do you think it takes to earn back the outlay on the processor?

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  4 дні тому +1

      It all depends on your sales, market area and pricing on the wood. I recommend building up your sales and volume to where you HAVE to produce more than you can before buying a big machine. but with my volume 3-4 years to pay for it.

    The Lady with the wood Boiler has the right idea. But if the door to the wood-stove/ wood boiler can fit a 16 inch round then there is no need to split the 16 inch round offering much longer heat. Wood stoves and Boilers are all pretty much doing the job they were meant to do. Offer heat. If by chance they have a wood boiler and they have 12 kids needing to shower before school then I would load the boiler up before the kids wake up with 2 by 2 inch wood knowing it will throw the most heat yet burn faster then gas on a pair of the ex panties. But id a wood stove or wood boiler can hold a 16 inch round it will take hours to burn off. Simple put you can split 12 logs in many little pieces and it will burn off in 2 hours yet you can take 6 logs and put them in whole and it will burn off in 12 hours.

    • @Revellersaws
      @Revellersaws 5 днів тому +3

      Rounds never dry to the middle. Burning wet wood for a long time is not a goal to aspire to, boilers store heat in the water. Burning dry wood for a short time will create more heat and less creosote.

    • @BertsCustomCuts
      @BertsCustomCuts 4 дні тому +1

      Big wood in a boiler is not the answer. You still need to be able to handle the wood to get in there without hurting yourself.

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  4 дні тому +1

      yes Yes YES! Lots of wood boiler myths out there!!!

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  4 дні тому +4

      DRY wood and lots of wood volume are what creates the most heat and longer burn time with good damper control on a boiler....big wet wood does slow the burn and causes LESS efficient heat because it has to burn (cook/boil/evaporate) off the moisture. You can fit less wood into a boiler box with bigger pieces than with a variety of sizes to PACK the box full.

      in cold weather, below 0°F, I find on a forced draft system the longer the blower is running the more heat is wasted up the chimney trying to burn big wood. In theory why waste heat trying to warm up cold air, split the wood and give the fire more surface area to burn hotter and faster eliminating some of the cold air blowing the flame and going out the chimney.
