Hey Loudwire, good list but, whats happenned with Metallica, they're so underrated
Thank you so much ♥️
ITS A MIRACLE! LEGION!
no fishbone?
KEvron
Loudwire I would have added Whiplash, and Holy Terror
The cramps have nothing to do with all the others here. From any point of view. One of the best garage punk rock n roll bands of all time
Punkabilly or Psychobilly were two terms used for that genre. One of my favorites!
I don't think they are underrated. You love them or you hate them. Most people are idiots so, doing the math, most people don't like them. They might be underplayed. I'm sure smart people in Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Tibet would like them if they heard them.
Underrated 80's bands ?
Here's a list:
- Lords Of The New Church
- The Gun Club
- Ashbury
- Hanoi Rocks
- Manilla Road
- Virgin Steele
- Liege Lord
- Rogue Male
- Praying Mantis
- Stampede
- Jason & The Scorchers
- Tex & The Horseheads
- Echo & The Bunnymen
- Baron Rojo
- Seduce
- Black N' Blue
- Grim Reaper
- Crimson Glory
- Leatherwolf
- Anvil
- Mama's Boys
- The Sisters Of Mercy
- Siouxsie And The Banshees
- Glorious Bankrobbers
- Fishbone
- D.A.D
- Babylon A.D
- Bang Tango
- Circus Of Power
- Dark Quarterer
- The Hangmen
- Vain
The Bolshoi is extremely underrated too
OMD
Def Leppard and The Outfield deserve more recognition
Oh yes!, espicially Anvil! For me anyway..lol all these bands were wicked
icon, malice, agent steel, attacker, laaz rockit, and somehow i know all of the bands u mentioned lol
You guys really need to start listing song titles on these.
Razor - Violent Restitution
Manilla Road - Crystal Logic
Angel Witch - Angel Witch
@@GreenishLobster I thought that was Spinal Tap
Crimson Glory - Red Sharks
Idk I think that’s the point in a certain way like it’s go and check out these bands until you find these songs
This list cries out loud for Hüsker Dü, the Godfathers of Grunge! Without them no Pixies, Dinosaur Jr, Mudhoney, Nirvana, Soundgarden etc as we all know them. RIP Grant Hart.
Also a big shout for the great Jeffrey Lee Pierce with his fantastic Gun Club! RIP JLP.
Both were really popular in college radio, and critics worshipped them.
LOL, how was Nirvana underrated? Nirvana would have headlined over the second coming.
Siouxsie & The Banshees or Bauhaus, anyone?
Amazing bands, but underrated?
@@DavidMiller-dt8mx Bauhaus definitely underrated. Siouxsie not so much.
@@TheChristafershawn The goth band that set the standard is definitely underrated? By some, maybe...
Bauhaus is awesome. I don't like Siouxsie because of the vocals.
@@romu7999 I love Siouxsie's vocals, but each to their own.
It’s ridiculous how little recognition WASP gets today. Killer group that fell off for no good reason
which one
Poison Ivy Forever..Gretsch guitars never sounded so good!
RIP Lux
The Cramps were just fantastic and criminally underrated. I had the good fortune of seeing them live a few times and they put on a show that was unequaled.... they are missed
Props for including Coroner on that list. Their cover of I Want You (She’s So Heavy) is mind blowingly amazing.
More recommendations:
Artillery
Necronomicon
Tankard
Voivod
Demolition Hammer
Holy Moses
Tankard, YES
Heard of Artillery and love Tankard. But DEMOLITION HAMMER !!! \m/ The first two albums are untouchable!!!
Carlos, of course Tankard are amazing
Filip, yes and also Morbid Saint they're so amazing and underrated, but i only heard their first album :)
Voivod yes
Pretty much the majority of the bands from the 80's hardcore punk scene would be right for this list.
Fuck yeah
I was about to comment Black Flag
Yes without all those bands "heavier" rock would still be slow and boring hippie trash.
Or maybe:
Rape Man
Big Black
SWANS
Bad Brains
and, yeah, many hardcore bands...
That’s so true.
Love to see the cramps getting props! Lux was a showman extraordinaire RIP!
The Cramps for sure. Their first two albums are in the top tier of classic punk masterpieces.
Diamond Head
Wasn't that more of a 70's band?
@@EDsavant Well they formed in the 70s but started releasing music in the 80s
They are overrated actually
@@stefanosspanoudakis9309 no they fucking aren't
@Lemony S diamond Head inspired Metallica and was fucking awesome
Half of you in the comment section doesn't understand what "underrated" means
Underrated comment. 👍👌
It means they didn't get the recognition they deserved. But, if you ask me, most of them didn't deserve any recognition they were so bad. :)
@@davidjenson1570 aka shite
Hanoi Rocks, way too underrated
Riot and Trouble. Saw Trouble opening for Savatage in 1990, one of the best shows I've ever been to.
Savatage anyone?
No shit!
U nailed it with out a doubt the most written off band that has hit after hit and is full of talent
jim weiss oh yeah definitely...in the dream, hard for love, out on the streets, strange wings, and others could have been hits
Doms Records sirins, moutain King, hounds, white witch we both probably can keep going on LOL nice to meet a fellow fan do U like the new priest album I think it's a masterpiece
jim weiss oh yeah...firepower was amazing dude. Flamethrower could have been on defenders excepts for the immolate the bodies part lol
I loved this song when it was on the radio in the 90s. But I never caught the name of the band. Rediscovered the song and listened to this band. Love it!!!!! Love this band!!!!
Where's Running Wild?!
Running Wild's a weird one. IIRC Under Jolly Roger wasn't released until 1992. Before then they were a thrash metal band that had Satanic lyrical themes, basically like every other thrash band at the time
Under Jolly Roger was released in 1987. In 1988 and 1989 they released 2 great albums: Port Royal and Death or Glory. So their 3 best albums was released in 80's.
@@roza5998 Oh whoops, my mistake
Love Raven.
Annihilator all the way!
highest selling candian metal band so id say they are rated
@@dray3000
They can be the best selling band of all time, but if nobody talks about them they are underrated.
Just take a look at the Scorpions.
Over 100 million records sold worldwide, yet nobody ever talks about them except for Wind of Change and rock you like a hurricane.
@@faulkinator114
you mean the scorpions who are currently caring and selling out festivals worldwide. I would say that's pretty big eclaim as well as people talking about them
@@dray3000
I'm a massive scorpions fan, I've been a fan since as long as I can remember. But everytime I start a conversation with someone about the scorpions, they just reply with
"Oh, that band that made that one ballad and rock anthem?" They are not talked about enough, people never talk about their 70s stuff with Michael Schenker and Uli Jon Roth. Same thing with Annihilator, people don't talk about them enough.
@@faulkinator114 Same with Sepultura, almost no body talks about them even tho they are one of the best thrash and groove metal bands and a death metal pioneer. But that doesnt mean they are underrated, more like forgotten.
The Cramps are the only band on this list worth a damn.
im very happy with the bands in the video, especially crimson glory razor and manilla road, among my fav bands.
honorable mentions: icon, malice, stormwitch, blitzkrieg, tokyo blade, attacker, agent steel, jag panzer, leatherwolf, laaz rockit, abbatoir, liege lord, powermad, obsession, trance, loudness, living death
This list could be dozens of bands long, honestly. I’d include bands like Stormwitch, Talon, Blitzkrieg, Grim Reaper, Heavy Load, and Samurai
Well I've heard of The Cramps, saw them once, the only microphone deep throat I've ever seen.
Grave Digger ? Maybe Queensryche ? Metal Church, Blind Guardian, Merycul Fate
Metal church is the only one close to be underrated. Blind guardian and Queensryche are super well known
The Cramps ❤️❤️
Killing Joke
The cramps are awesome
Does anyone remember Armored Saint?????!!!!!!
Reginald T Smith I used to play the crap out of Symbol of Salvation when I was in high school, way back in the 90’s
yes, i do
Yeah. Weren't they John Bush's band before his long 90s stint with Anthrax?
Of course.
Yeah they're missing from this list.
Yeah!Angel Witch is amasing, but so underrated!
angel witch is so greattt
King's X is probably the most underrated band of the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. Never any love
Fact
Truth
I agree.
Word!
No doubt
What about FUGAZI? It's one of the most underrated bands ever
Minor Threat
I disagree. They're hugely popular in punk rock. They never wanted to be mainstream, but they could have been if they wanted to be.
Finally a Loudwire video that doesn't include Iron Maiden and/or Tool. Although, I must say I'm surprised you guys didn't find a way to put one or both of them on here.
finally, these bands are appreciated. THANK YOU LOUDWIRE!!!
LOVE The Cramps. R.I.P. Lux!
Plasmatics, Warlock, Throwing Muses and Barón Rojo.
Heavy Metal en español me gusta de COZ ! Saludos desde Brasil !
That Angel Witch clip looks like a deleted scene from "This Is Spinal Tap".....LMAO
SO FORTUNATE to have seen Manila Road @ Hi-Dive Lounge in Denver, CO in 2017 \m/
Got to see, The Cramps in the mid 90's, in a shit bar with about 250 listeners. Great show, great band.
The Cramps are fucking LEGENDS in my book, end of story. That is all.
It would be better if Black Flag, Voivod, Kreator, and Hüsker Dü are on this list, those are considered to be underrated. 🤘👌
Man, the Cramps talent sure stands out amongst the noise of the rest of them!
Good to see the cramps on here!
LOVE that you included Miracle Legion. One of my favorites that no one has heard of.
I lol'd at about 02:18. That guitar player was happy.
Y&T and Riot definitely should be on this list.
Other bands that could be on the list: Girlschool, Trouble, St. Vitus, Tygers of Pan Tang
The Cramps are one of the best selling bands of all time. What are y’all researching because they were huge
Before I even watch this, Savatage better be on the list.
damn good band!
@Spork Spatula ...or else I'll post a comment that attracts trolls.
Exactly my thoughts when seeing this video
Didn't Savatage sing Gutter Ballet???
@@tleeg74 Gutter Ballet, Streets, The Hall of the Mountain king...all are by savatage
bet ghost is somehow on this list
couldn't agree more about the Cramps
Great to see some appreciation for Crimson Glory and Manilla Road!
Finally a list I agree with. Especially Coroner.
The Cramps never have been and never will be underrated.
I hadn't heard of Miracle Legion before seeing this thank you for that
Man, even some lesser known acts of the 80's were better than most of the most popular ones of today.
Other underrated 80s greats: Barnabas, Undercover, Witchfynde, Lizzy Borden, Last Resort, Angelic Upstarts, Rose Tattoo, Saxon, Pandamonium, Infa Riot, Cockney Rejects, Acid,...
Alright! The mentioned the Canadians Razor 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 I met them at a convention a few years back. They were nice guys.
The Fuzztones
RUDIMENTARY PENI
N-1
Yes, and Discharge
I agree with Cryptic Slaughter. Amazing! Think they were in high school at the time
You get my like for featuring Witchfinder!!
anyone remember when rock bands were bashed, mocked and ridiculed by the media? I do, too bad they're not allowed to these days less they be fired, called a racist or anti-women
The Cramps were awesome. RIP Lux
I'm from Bradenton, Fl we used to go to the warehouses and see Crimson Glory before they got signed what an amazing band!! But there was a punk band from the same warehouses called "The Belching Penguins" they later changed their name to "The BP's" they were the BEST!!!
The Obssesed. Wino is the King Midas of the underground metal world.
George Kafiridis in 1990 the Obsessed got back together and finally got to release their self titled debut that was recorded in 1985. They broke up for the 2nd time in 1995 and had already released 2 more albums by that time. Their 2nd album 1991’s “Lunar Womb” and their 3rd album 1994’s “The Church Within.”
Finally saw them with eyehategod last year!
Does Dramarama count as an underrated 80's band?
YESSSSS! Manilla Road as number on!!
"Through the jungle by the river Styx! I've journeyed long and far this day!
Lurking shadows in the parapets! Will never make me turn away!
Darkened city veiled in crimson mist
! Entombed in time without decay!"
Nice to see European and Canadian bands get a mention.
With what I see and hear in this video it would be impossible for any of these bands to be underrated.
Never once or should they ever have been underrated the cramps shit on so many 80s acts
No they didn't, dummy
Bauhaus - genius band - and Killing Joke.
Dang, just reminds me that I had hair back then.
Holy hell, I want to thank the people behind the LIvewire label for making aware of these bands, only two of which I knew of. Every one of them rock.
Hanoi Rocks should have been on this list
the cramps are great. RIP Lux Interior
Exactly what i listened to when i was 16 !
I LUV THIS LIST. \m/
I remember buying the albums Raven, All For One (killer killer album), Anthrax Fistfull of Metal, Metallica Kill em All and Queensryche ep as they pretty much came out all at the same time in 1983. What a time that was. All but Queensryche on Banzai records as well with that rising sun label on the LPs.
Out of the ten bands the only one i've heard of is the Cramps. None of these other bands ever made it in the UK.
Holy Terror, Sacred Reich, Agnostic Front, Mortal Sin, Cro-Mags, Pagan Altar
Manilla Road in first !!! Ok this time I totally agree with you loudwire.
The British guys from "Demon" is a good name for this list, where we have only bands that recorded songs in English ! Because the list can to be giant if we include who released songs in another languages !
Props to loudwire for mentioning Manilla Road. Kick ass band!
And Razor!
Raven too!
And Witchfinder General, but I think Savatage should have been included on this list.
I was a big fan of Raven. Good to see them on the list
Anyone that doesn't know about The Cramps stop what you're doing and listen to every single album pronto !!!
I am a funk, R&B and rap fan and I've even seen the Cramps in person! For some reason someone I worked with had tickets to an all-day festival. She got them at the last minute I don't know how. She had a ton of them and she didn't know a lot of people who could go at the last minute all day and all night, or even like the type of music being played. It was crazy. Soundgarden was there, The Cramps where there and even Ice-T!
The Cramps...uderrated?? Don't think so. Maybe never got huge, but back in the day, they were the kings of garage punk. RIP Lux
I don't like Razor's other albums but Violent Restitution, man
... Fucking hell! The Marshall Arts still makes me headbang like possessed! Also glad to see Coroner on this list!
#1 should’ve been Diamond Head. One of the most influential heavy metal bands that rarely gets their due.
Search here for (Sinful Demo Album 1985) it features Jose Anes B5 Rockcandy and Nuno Bettencourt B4 Extreme! Enjoy
Flotsam and Jetsam
O V E R K I L L
I agree. But i think OverKill was a bit more successful than the bands in this list.
In high school I had my folders intricately decorated with the hand-drawn banners for all these bands, I really should have become a graphic artist.
I agree the Cramps were/are underrated but most of the rest sound like cover bands so I can see why they didnt get more popular.
Its good to see Raven get some props, even though their Atlantic Records days watered them down a bit.....
W.A.S.P is underrated since 2000’s
A list that has Manilla Road as #1 is a good list.
1980s Rock/Metal bands:
Ozzy Osbourne
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Dio
Mötley Crüe
Twisted Sister
Metallica
Megadeth
Slayer
Anthrax
Def Leppard
Queensryche
Bon Jovi
Guns N' Roses
Kreator
Overkill
Exodus
Testament
Suicidal Tendencies
Death
Morbid Angel
The Chameleons, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Lime Spiders, The Sound
Awesome site...yahoo for the Cramps, since we're including punky roots rock how about X (John, Exene, Billy, DJ), and for an underrated song you gotta check out "Dance" by the Queen City Kids.
