The music in our video is Pasat Merdu, by Singaporean composer Felix Phang. "Pasat Merdu" is an SSO Commission first premiered at our National Day Concert 2023, to much acclaim.

Happy Birthday to my favorite symphony orchestra. A fan from New Jersey, USA.
Lol...Ms Xu's outtake.....so funny when she forgot her line. And Sam at the end there with the birthday song tune with a "blow of the nose" that the editor used to time perfectly with a cut scene. But my favourite instrument of the SSO is still the cello, though. I like the deep low tones that it makes. Every SSO musician is really talented and professional. I remember once Pei-Sian's bow kept shredding as he was playing. I could see the broken hair flaying about but he kept his cool and continued playing with aplomb. When there was a break for the cello, he would pull the offending hair out only for another to break later. I imagine he'd get frustrated at it happening during a live performance but it never showed, whether on his face or thru' his music.
I have missed watching Lan Shui in action and the bespectacled Igor Yuzefovich as Concertmaster, sitting right in front, on the conductor's left. There was also a female violinist in the same line, I can't remember her name. I think she has retired from playing? I know both Lan Shui and Igor have left their posts with the SSO though.
Oh and I've kept the programme booklet for every single SSO concert that I've gone to since Metamorphosen in Oct 2014.
