Davy jones and his crew was probably one if not the best CGI ever made for a movie. The details and especially the integration into the scenes with lighting is absolutely astonishing. They really poored a LOT of work into that. Very much respect for these films. Everything is so thoughtfully created and designed from the story to the visualization to the dialog and music. It all comes together so wonderfully.
Also, even today, the cgi is indistinguishable from reality. I've seen movies made in the past few years that have had WAY worse cgi than PoTC (it was one of the spiderman movies with home in the name that I'm talking about)
Davy Jones' had a loving heart, his feelings were as deep as the ocean. Nobody wants to be ever rejected, however he wasn't just rejected, but betrayed. This theme carries so much of his pain... Hans Zimmer is a musician genius indeed.
It's hard to believe the Pirates movies in general were made by Disney at all with how gritty and dark they could be. It's a bit more obvious in the 4th and 5th films, but even so.
And the accents are just thick enough that kids can't hear anything about the plot- they just see 'good goofy Pirate constantly wins cool battles and runs away all the time,' 'the young guy and the pretty girl get married,' and 'bad octopus dude dies.' Everything goes right over their heads. So really, when Disney applied their 'fun for the whole family' motto to this series, they pretty much just went 'let's make a cool movie with actually great characters and plot for the adults and big kids, but make the accents so thick that little kids don't catch any of it. About time the rest of the family had some fun, right?'

But the 5th was a little too out of character. I can't see him courting and staying with a woman throughout her pregnancy. The 'pirates life' would call him back to the sea. Me being me though, I loved that he had a daughter. I'm such a sucker for those scenes.

Davy jones is one of the best villains in all of cinema his music box shows his tragic past but the when he plays the organ with his rage and shows his Ruthless and fearsome side and the detail into his character is great to and the small details just make him that great
I'm hoping for a pirates animated series like star wars the clone wars. It would allow so many great characters like Davy Jones to return without the issue of actor age creating any problems.
Pirates of the Caribbean is an exceptional **trilogy**, please don't tell them to do a TCW-style series of it. TCW is a bad series, and too childish for that franchise...

That and the fact that we had many location to explore. I am sure that the fanbase of POTC would prefer a TCW-Styled cartoon over a Sequel/Reboot without Johnny
Epic Villains make movies exciting... thanks to their disruptions and the little stories behind them is what the entire movie gets to hook us until the final.

There's only been a few villains in recent (2000-2020) cinematic history I would consider to be truly well done. The villains you remember for more than just a cool fight scene at the climax, the ones you remember for their story arc, the ones who you empathized with to a degree. Proud to say I'd put Davy Jones on that list next to the likes of The Joker from The Dark Knight, Thanos from the marvel franchise and Handsome Jack from Borderlands (counting him even though I said Cinematic cause he's just that good).

I'll be honest davy jones is a villen that is really well thought out and a lot of effort was put in to make this character he's one of my favorite violent up there with Bill Cypher
This was the one song from last year that I wasn't completely happy with the production. So for the Level 11 album version we made a few tweaks to bring out (to my ears) its full potential. Here is the list of changes: Rebalancing of bass guitar/ kick drum low end frequencies to create a more dynamic groove. Guitar EQ adjusted for a warmer, fatter sound. Some vocal volume levels adjusted slightly. Adjusted kick drum click to feel more natural and be slightly louder. Snare drum adjusted & EQ-d to have fewer distracting harmonic overtones and fit into the groove better. Some overall mix & master EQ & compression adjustments to create a more full, balanced sounding production.
Davey Jones is indeed a tragic villain. He has a reason why he hates the world. It's the same reason all great villains have for their misdeeds. Love, ...or the lack of it. Love is the real villain. Love is out stalking through the world searching for lonely hearts and creating (with it's passing) all these terrible monsters who spit and curse and loathe all the fair & beautiful things upon the earth. Lon Chaney's The Phantom of the Opera (broken heart), Frankenstein's monster (lonely & misunderstood), Lon Chaney Jr's. Wolf-man (cursed), Lon Chaney Jr's. Mummy (returns from death to seek out his true love), Gary Oldman's Dracula (the same) ... the list is long. Yes, Love is the real thing we must fear as it will one day be the undoing of all man-kind... and woman-kind as well!

This was the one song from last year that I wasn't completely happy with the production. So for the Level 11 album version we made a few tweaks to bring out (to my ears) its full potential. Here is the list of changes:
Rebalancing of bass guitar/ kick drum low end frequencies to create a more dynamic groove.
Guitar EQ adjusted for a warmer, fatter sound.
Some vocal volume levels adjusted slightly.
Adjusted kick drum click to feel more natural and be slightly louder.
Snare drum adjusted & EQ-d to have fewer distracting harmonic overtones and fit into the groove better.
Some overall mix & master EQ & compression adjustments to create a more full, balanced sounding production.

Davey Jones is indeed a tragic villain.
He has a reason why he hates the world. It's the same reason all great villains have for their misdeeds. Love, ...or the lack of it.
Love is the real villain. Love is out stalking through the world searching for lonely hearts and creating (with it's passing) all these terrible monsters who spit and curse and loathe all the fair & beautiful things upon the earth.
