It's always so fascinating to learn the history of this beautiful macabre profession! I've been an aspiring taxidermist for years, only nineteen but I'm fairly good at salt drying things like squirrel tails/feet, bird legs, and once a dead lizard (all caught by cats that didn't eat the animal, I don't like seeing creatures go to waste.) This specific history I didn't know! I knew about mannequins, not the reason behind the term 'stuffed'. Love your energy! I'll be looking into your channel more :)
Thank you so much for this video my dad’s a taxidermist and it’s so irritating. Having to explain that when you mount an animal you don’t just stuff it full of random stuff
And after a taxidermist has one too many brews, the hobby will find a different term so as not to remind people of what happened on that cold and lonesome night with the mannequin.
There is only one kind of amount nowadays that are actually stuffed and they're called Soft mounts and depending on the tax returns themselves usually only the body is stuffed with some articulation in it while the head and the feet have the mannequin in it

Yeah. I still don’t know how I feel about those though. I feel like they would tear up over time due to excessive handling
Texasdermy
The accent is thick but it’s a mark of where I’m from and I couldn’t be prouder
@@SCTraditions no-no. The joke is that I wrote it like I'm half-man, half-taxedermy.
