- Do you have a chest freezer or deep freezer? If not, you are missing out! One of the best thing about having a deep freezer is the ability to store large quantities of food. As great as they are, the can be a real pain to deal with. Food seems to go into hiding and its impossible to find.
In this video, I’m taking you on a tour of my deep freezer and I’m going to show you how I chose to organize it so I can get the best use out of all those foods we have in there. Our freezer is invaluable. Its one of the ways that we store food. It holds the main source of our protein that we eat and a lot of other things that we grow here on our farm. We are a big hunting family and each year we fill our freezer with wild organic game meat and farm raised pork. We have everything in there from deer, elk, wild turkey, and pigs to strawberries and vegetables from my garden. But the problem with a deep freezer is just that… its deep! So things tend to get stacked on top of each other and then the items on the bottom tend to be forgotten about and not used. So today we are going to pull everything out, organize it into different storage bins, take a little inventory and then put everything back in nice and neat.

I also agree on the two smaller freezers. I have one small upright and one medium chest. Also, having two freezers gives piece of mind when one craps out on you!
Agreed, my freezer went out and I had to do an emergency buy so I didn’t loose all my food. Still trying to find something that I truly love because I’m not too happy with it even though it’s workable.

Get 2-3 smaller freezer’s may help but yes it’s more electric used

That is really a good ideal, keep your comment with dates someone may decide to build it. Absolutely makes sense so simple it's one of those ideals of why didn't I think of that before. Love Ruthie

I have the same problem lol I switched to a standing freezer for meat and try to keep everything in rows. Still use a deep freeze for garden stuff

I have a small chest freezer that looks brand new and sat up for a few years after the Hurricane don’t know why it went out. I really need it too due to my limited space. I agree everyone needs a chest freezer. Hopefully I will get it working again 🤦♀️!

I know exactly what you mean this is why I think an upright freezer might be better for organizing
Painters tape, labelled and stuck to the outside of the freezer will help you know at a glance how much you have, and where.

Or maybe magnetic white board placed on top of the freezer
Oh wow, I like those soft bags way better than the hard plastic bins I bought for our deep freeze! Gotta find me some!

Yep. They work great.
What happens to your animals when you go to Florida for winter?
We have someone that takes care of them for us.
