Tamiya G6-01 Conversion to RWD

Great stuff mate and thanks for the mention my friend! Wow this conversion was a lot more involved than I imagined! You use exactly the same big tub of grease as I do! Those bits of tube to centre the gears looks a bit of a faff but I understand why it needs to be done to centre those gears! I was looking forward to this video and you didn't disappoint. Oh yeah I always cut out all my f-ups! 🤣🤣Good on ya for keeping it real! Yeah, always double check, mate! Good call with the steel pinion, those stock alloy ones are made of cheese! Love the motor plate, very cool. I enjoyed listening to you chatter on as you were building, reminds me of why I like doing it! She's alive!!! Nice one matey! 😎😎👍👍

Thank you very much Mark for watching. I was getting more and more frustrated with the build as everything started to go wrong just when I needed it to go right.
I thought it only fair to do a build video and not edit anything out so people can see the kind of hiccups that occur when doing a custom build.
Hopefully Part 2 won't be as long as this one 🤪

Hi there Peter, loved the building video, and for sure, you’ve got to make sure Maisie is comfortable before the building session 😂😂😂. Congratulations on reaching 101!. I also loved the commentary as you we going along 😂😂 and don’t worry about mistakes, because we all do it 😂😂😂😊😊. Neat that you used different plastic spacers for the internal / external diameters of the spaces. Oh yeah, like it real, I do make mistakes and oh yes, I use Microsoft Clipchamp (the default video editor on a PC, to help with the editing) I also use my iPad iMovie to help with the editing, but mostly, I’m as per the building. But as your building a bespoke chassis, the build process is more experimental and you need to make decisions on the spur of the moment. I’ll never fast forward your videos bud, I enjoy listening to your banter 😂😂 I would invest in the Tamiya kit builders set, that has the Allen drivers, Philips and nut drivers that you need, save your fingers and wrist 😊😊. I’m looking forward to seeing how you extend the wheelbase (see I’m learning a bit more 👀😉👀).Yummy, Jaffa’s 🤪😉. Yep, attaching the motor on camera is always going to catch you out 😂😂😊😊, the knack is in the feel (🤓oh er! ). It’s always easy on film 🤣😂🫣😂🤣🫣👀now, now patience Mr Smith 😂😎😂. Yeh! The motor and gearbox is away ! She’s working and onto the suspension. A hug and squeeze to Maisie. Best wishes 😊😊

The trial run was about half hour but once on camera, it took absolutely ages and everything went wrong so I decided to leave it as it was to let the viewer experience the hiccups that occur when building a custom RC build 👍

Hi Addam, thank you very much for the confidence boost. The battery test was your idea so only fair to mention you during my build. I'm hoping that part 2 will flow a little better than part 1. Doing a full-on custom build on camera will incur a few hiccups along the way so I am putting it all down to experience so am hoping for a better build project in the future. Many Thanks 😊

@@cw-01creations46 it isn't easy to do a full build without editing! I have only done time lapse, photos and checkpoint type build videos. I talk to myself way too much and sometimes it isn't nice when I mess up so doing it live is not for me 😂 you did fine and I am very interested in seeing more!

Hiya Peter. Firstly congratulations on the subs 😁👍 Secondly well done on doing a build video with no editing. I never do that as you know. I make loads of mistakes along the way and edit all that out! @@UncleBobsRC no no Bob, I totally agree, you never see anybody else make mistakes in their videos because they are all so perfect when they build their kits, aren't they? And that's where the power of editing comes into play and they cut out the mistakes to make everything look hunky dorey but as I was attempting a custom build, I thought it best to just go with the flow and see what happens. I don't want to make a 40 part video just to make content for my channel, unlike some channels out there 😁

Interesting….300mm wheelbase, thats same as HPI WR8…. Giving me some ideas…
Building with a camera on doesnt work well for me either, i stick to time lapse or dont do em haha.
That frustration in your voice at the end, i felt it 😅
