Wish this came out last year when I was diving into his Marvel stuff. I messed up the reading order and read Hawkeye after his Ultimates run. With this, his FF/F4, Avengers, Secret Wars and Secret Warriors omnis, all we need now is his SHIELD in one collection.
If I remember right, they never actually had a bridge between ''The Maker'' fighting the Ultimates. It kinda just opens up with him and his city/children and Nick Fury yelling at the Avengers to get to business. Reed turns a bit after Sue refuses to marry him in Ultimate Doomsday and then he disappears from the comics until Ultimate Comics Ultimates #1.
I prefer when they put the cover in front of each issue rather than all at the end of the book. But I didn’t know Hickman wrote the old Ultimate stories too.
Looks like the paper quality on this omnibus is pretty good as well as I can tell the binding is nice because of the way that the pages lay open and there doesn’t seem to be too much gutter loss or bad rolls. Things I always look for. Also the art is dope. Brian Hitch is so cinematic with such amazing panel layout IQ.
Oh wow, man! 🎉 that title, the cover art, the vibes, and characters on cover! And writer name! Some good old Red, White, Blue Marvel Comics reading! 📚 📖 🎨 🛡 🔨 🚀 🔥 🏹
It’s funny when you compare the price of comics with manga, you can get box sets of manga for $100, and this is just one book. But maybe it’s worth it, it’s pretty compact for 500 pages.
Well manga is waaay cheaper to print than this because it's on cheap paper (ever notice how your manga pages turn yellow quickly) and just black and white and just paperbacks. But agreed Marvel pricing is too high.
Hickman never misses! Can't say the same about Mark Millar's work on the Ultimates though 💀I really wish Hawkeye and Hulk were as close in the MCU as they were in the Ultimates and Earth's Mightiest Heroes. They had such an amazing dynamic
I have this on pre-order mostly because I thought it might set up some of the stuff from his Avengers run. A little disappointed to hear it feels like it’s picking up from another story, but curious if it does add to the other run by Hickman?

@@anbunight3662 I’m not sure tbh. I don’t think this ties in at all with ultimate Spider-Man. Not sure of ultimate X-men. This ultimates run takes place after the ultimates omnibus by Bryan hitch though

If I’m trying to collect the Hickman run to Secret Wars is this an integral piece of the story? One of the reading order lists included these issues.
I’d say it is a good addition adds information about the maker who is in some of the avengers run for time turns out and is in secret wars

I am not sure you are missing much in terms of build up apart from ultimate doomsday but that doesn’t directly lead into this

It’s the same Maker from the new Ult universe, so it is a continuation of his story
It's all in the Ultimate marvel continuity, but the stuff with the Maker does carry over into the "Time Runs Out" part of his Avengers run in a way.

It comes after the ultimates omni for sure. This does take place after ultimate Spidey cause ultimate fallout happens right in the middle of this book

The Thor and Hawkeye minis, yes. I think the Ultimates 1-12 will feel like there’s missing context.

They try to emulate popular tv shows/movies instead of trying to tell good stories at heart
