    EV vehicles are the biggest threat to tunnels and bridges imaginable

  • @megazw7740

    Tunnels are sectional structures so I don’t understand why there isn’t a capability to close off a section or multiple sections to prevent air going in also rigged with fire systems like powder or foam. Entering a tunnel to fight a fire seems unrealistic in most cases so there needs to be a way to use the design of a tunnel to our advantage to reduce risk.

    So now we can't see footage of the towers falling?? That's dumb

    • @B_COOPER
      @B_COOPER Місяць тому

      I understand what your point, but you have to understand you’re not just watching the towers collapse, you’re also watching thousands of people lose their lives in a matter of seconds.

    • @sharonwhiteley6510
      @sharonwhiteley6510 Місяць тому +1

      How many times have we seen the Twin Towers collapse? Too many to count.
      I guess the snowflakes have banned it.

    • @sharonwhiteley6510
      @sharonwhiteley6510 Місяць тому +1

      . We watched it multiple times an hour for months. We watched the people jumping that day. Now the towers collapsing shouldn't be shown?
      And we going to rewrite history and ignore the whole horrific event of history? Just pretend they came down willingly?
      I guess then they shouldn't have shown Mexico City after the earthquake.
      What about the 26 December tsunami? We shouldn't see it either?
      In order to prevent an event from reoccurring or how people should react in an emergency, you must show the before/during/after.
      You can't ignore disasters. Regardless of the devastation, they must be studied. Then, the population educated how to react .
      How many times did they show the Grenfell Towers fire in London?
      We don't need to see the human cost and affect on the body of the aftermath, but you simply cannot ignore the event.

    Don’t know if I’d call a tunnel a miracle of modern engineering considering the oldest tunnel excavated is from the eighth century.

      Regenerative braking has been used since the early 1900’s. The Swiss had it on their 16.3 Hz system but it would not work on 50 Hz ac, the UK class 323 emu,s were the first to regenerate into 50Hz in the 1980’s. All dynamic brakes also need a mechanical device to hold the train stationary, the clue is in the name “dynamic” I.e. you only get braking effort when there is movement.

    No matter what they say now, There is no way Ill go into those so called safety cell rooms in those death trap Tunnels. Id get out and walk towards an exit, yes I might die from smoke, but id rather that, then going into those no exit rooms.

    Such a pity that a passenger on the ICE didn’t operate the pass comm switch. All German trains have magnetic brakes and can stop in half the distance of UK trains. It would have stopped before the bridge.

    Meeting UA-cam's requirements makes some sections of the video highly questionable due to not seeing what happened. We end up thinking what was all the fuss about as we haven't been able to see anything.

      sorry to disappoint you. The reason is that the damage to the foundation of both towers and the underlying structures did destabilize the foundation of WT 7 as well. There's been a Subway running underneath. All these factors were enough to cause the internal structure of the building to disintegrate over the next hours. It's that simple. But of course, if the tinfoil hat is too tight.......

    Margarine is flammable?

    • @Vincent_Sullivan
      @Vincent_Sullivan 3 місяці тому

      Yes margarine is flammable. Margarine is basically vegetable oil solidified through a process called hydrogenation. It is not very volatile at room temperature so it is not easy to ignite it, but if you heat it it melts to liquid and will start to vaporize. It can then be ignited and once you get it burning it contains a great deal of chemical energy so creates a large amount of heat. Think of a wax candle... At room temperature it is solid but you can start it burning by melting a tiny amount of the wax in the wick with a match.

    • @Vincent_Sullivan
      @Vincent_Sullivan 3 місяці тому +2

      @@Rondon68 There is no need for ad hominem attacks. Tyani asked a fair question and I expect a lot of people would not think of margarine as being flammable. It certainly was not considered a dangerous cargo by the people running the tunnel! They have learned better now...
      By the way, I hate to be a grammar Nazi, but your 6 word comment "@Tyani-s, your not very bright are gou?" has 3 errors in it. First, the word you are looking for is "You're", not "your". Since it is at the beginning of a sentence it needs to be capitalized and you need to use the word that is a contraction of "You are" not the word indicating possession. Also the word "you" is spelled with a "y" and not a "g".
      I am sorry to give you this bad news, but perhaps a little more thinking and some proofreading would help you become a better UA-cam commenter.

    So, the old safety rooms couldn't cope with a fire of 1.200 degrees raging for 56 hrs.
    So they build new safetyrooms able to cope with 1.000 degrees for 4 hrs.
    Sounds like a comedian made the changes.

      The only smart thing they added were actual escape tunnels that are accessed through the safety rooms and lead to the outside. Why they thought a bunker with no exits was a good idea for the first one they made, is a bit beyond me. I guess that the saying of “every safety regulation is written in blood” can be applied for this tunnel
