I would chose the scirocco although it's not faster but it looks more aggressive

I chose the roc in the end simply because driving everyday on the road. It's just looks better and is rare. I've lost count the amount of people asking me what type of VW it is and how cool it looks
100% agree. Love my 2016 R. Who the hell wants to spend a ton more for a car that is common as muck? And 4 doors? Even the Panamera struggles to pull that off! Hot-hatches should only ever be 2 doors.
I have had a Golf GT, now on a Scirocco, i love the Scirocco, looks stunning, and drives really well

Biggest problem is what you said at the start - the Golf is far too common. Scirocco R is a superb looking vehicle
Unless you live in the US. Finding a Golf in the US is pretty rare, any hatchback for that reason. The car market here is all about “how big and how much of a gas guzzler can we make this?” So trucks, SUV’s, and large sedans will always be the American choice unfortunately
Agree to everything you said here, except the interior comparison. These cars both had same NAVI unit, same gauge clusters same multi functional display, pretty much same elements. Scirocco has a very unique and sporty design on top of that, whereas the golf is still squearish in expressing its sportiness

Not necessary. AWD is too heavy. These are hot hatches not sports cars. FWD is lighter and perfect for a hot hatch.
The scirocco R is still a look twice car, simply stunning.

VW remind me of Mitsubishi when they neglected the Eclipse to focus on the Evo. All they care about is money and sales. The Scirocco should be the car with the powerful engine and the all wheel drive system since it looks like a sports car...talk about a sheep in wolf's clothing!!!

Might not have as much power and only fwd I love my Rocco, a real head turner more than the common golf. About to do my first tune on my scirocco, I’d take it anyway over the golf

Couldn't agree more. Had my Scirocco R for 4 years and the amount of comments/questions I get, combined with the blatant head turning.... It's an utterly gorgeous, unique car. Looking at statement and performance, I think it's a better match... Golf R is still a Golf at the end of the day...

was hard choice ,but Rocco looks more aggressive ,i upgrade my Rocco to 350 ps i enjoy this all day :)

I like his end conclusion being that even doh one car has more POWER and is AWD he would still think the scirocco is the better car, why would you think that when AWD and more POWER is what makes the most difference? Intersting conclusion. wiothout its advantages of AWD and POWER the Roc > Golf anyday
Uhmmm, the Scirocco is just a heavy facelift, based on the MK6 Golf, old 188kW K04 setup while the MK7 Golf R is, well, based on the Mk7. Not sure you can really compare these two?
But they're selling both as the latest versions of that model. So we have every right to compare them since there isn't a MK7 based Sirroco. To be honest, if there was a MK7 Sirroco I bet it would have won.

Guys, if you insist on filming your stories in winter on the dreary Highveld, you will never generate hits. The cars and presentation may be top class, but the setting just gets everyone depressed.

Yes. Compare this with the Ferrari 488 video and almost all the stuff from Cars.co.za. The setting makes a massive difference to the visual appeal of the video.
Maybe for you, but for actual car enthusiasts, the cars are the focal point of the videos, the setting makes little difference

Golf for me! AWD, more power, more comfortable, more practical, easier to live with, more rigid due to the MQB platform. Rocco only has the looks, but that is subjective and I don't really like it, I prefer the sleeper look the Golf has and is not so "in your face"
You are comparing a EA113 to a EA888... take the 6R instead of the 7R..
No they are not, both of them have the EA888

@@tobireindl Im pretty sure they havent, the Scirocco R with 265hp yes, have the EA113. The facelift one, with 280hp, have the EA888. Like the other ones the 180hp and the 220hp, and the GTS version to. This last ones shares the CULx code, the R version im not sure if its CUL to, but i think yes.
@@rodrigo1653 The pre facelift does have the EA113 with 265HP and 350Nm (CDLA) and EURO5 and the facelift one does also have the EA113 with 280HP and 350Nm (CDLK) with EURO6 - I had the pre facelift last year and I own a facelift Scirocco R now, I know which engine I have 😅😂 Yes, the 180HP and 220HP Scirocco have the EA888, but those are the only two ✌🏼

Im getting a 220hp version, and i searched for some informations about the 180/220 versions, thats why i assumed that the R version have same engine, but yeah, apparently not. And sorry

Why VW did not make a driver oriented car (2 door) the clear winner in performance is beyond logic.
People buying it obviously want the drive more than passengers yet VW made the passenger vehicle AWD and similarly powered.
No wonder the better looking Scirocco struggled.
Never liked the Golf. It's a boring looking car. Very staid but very practical and fast which is why it outsells the Scirocco which appeals to single people. The Golf appeals more to families who want the extra space and luxury but also performance. Never understood why they made it AWD. Totally unnecessary and adds much more weight to the car. These are hot hatches NOT sports cars. A Lambo requires AWD not a Golf! In this way the Scirocco wins because it's lighter FWD and is much better looking as many Golf nuts concede. The all wheel discs and power stearing also help with the handling so AWD is not necessary.

Honda take note. VW does not name everything a Golf.
If this was Honda they would call it the Honda Civic 3 door and the Honda Civic 5 door.
Honda names everything the Civic which is not only overused but lacks identity. The 5 door should be the Concerto and the sports version the CRX.
Honda has missed the idea on marketing and product identity.
Scirocco looks girly in my opinion....something very feminine about it
