Many feel that B & S were robbed at this competition. Jamie did fall in the short program. But it is just as true that in 1999 Worlds the Chinese pair Shen & Zhao were robbed, they skated cleanly.
I've always been a fan of both couples, and I've seen both programs several times. Neither was flawless--Jamie singled the axel, while Elena and Anton had a low landing on the triple twist and he had a scratchy landing on his double axel. Artistically, very different programs, both choreographically inventive and beautiful in their own ways. All things considered, I think it could have gone either way.
Thet didn't deserve that gold medal at all. Jamie's step out in short and single axel in long!!!!!!!!!!! They won just because of home support! BTW I AM NOT RUSSIAN BUT ELENA AND ANTON WERE MUCH BETTER!!!! Try to be objective!!!!!!!!
It's kind of ironic that everyone says Elena and Anton were robbed at this competition, and then at the Olympics Elena and Anton robbed Sale and Pelletier of their deserved win (which all worked out in the end... just sayin...)
Interestingly enough, by the same type of reasoning, the Chinese pair who skated cleanly, were robbed of the gold at the 1999 Worlds and also did not contest the result.

The canadian women lanced a 1A, not 2A.

if she hadn't singled the double axel, maybe. with that mistake, B&S should have been first.
I haven't enjoyed watching pairs skating since they retired. What great performers.

Berezhnaya and Sikharulidze were robbed, but none told nothing, it's a shame!
Bravo to Elena and Anton,,,,they deserved Gold,,,good program here,,,but Jamie had a mistake,,,2nd place for them,,,,not fair this worlds,,,,!

Elena and Anton were robbed at this event. And they handled it with dignity. Sale and Pelletier are just so boring to watch.
They are average in so many ways --- edging, body line, speed, extension.

I was glad when they won this .. I always felt that B & S were over-rated.
