Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - 2001 Skate America, Pairs' Free Skate - Jamie Sale and David Pelletier of Canada won the Free Skate to win the Gold Medal here. They would later scrap this program in favor of the "Love Story" Free Skate for the Olympic Games.

Such a beautifully choreographed program. I would have given it a 5.9 and probably a 6.0 if she hadn't popped the triple toe into a double.

My favorite free skate of Sale/Pelletier. I only wish that we had seen a clean performance of it.

@tanbark1 If you go back to profiles on them in the 1998-99 season, it was mentioned that David was already married (but not to Jaime)...by 2001, David's wedding band was gone...

This program was amazing, and I wish they had used it at the Olympics. From what I recall, they still weren't "feeling it, "so they returned to their classic Love Story program because it was something that they were extremely comfortable with as they had performed it so many times. It was like wrapping themselves in a warm blanket. The audience might love it since it is such a memorable program, but it was a big mistake because the judges wanted to see something fresh and new.

Have TWO minds about this program although interesting i do think love story was stronger in many ways however i agree about showing something fresh so its an opinion as to what was best
