Какая пара! Слов нет, ну откуда вот они появились?! Какие движения, грация! Поддержки, прыжки, какая синхронность! Ещё раз пишу, как он внимателен и заботлив к своей партнерше! Это говорит о его интеллигентности, воспитанности! Она нежна, спокойна! Как будто у неё есть какой то внутренний стальной стержень!

I read in another video a comment about a ballet teacher saying Anton and Elena were the winners judging only their postures, before to know Salle/Pelletier results. If someone who watched skating casually that night picked the winners according to the experience in a harder field, we can feel we're not alone in our considerations about Elena and Anton.

The heirs to Gordeeva and Grinkov ... and in many respects, I prefer Moskvina’a “St. Petersburg” style: the syncopation; the brilliant entrances to jumps, throws, and lifts; the lovely lines. I never thought any pair would ever match G&G, but this pair, even though rarely perfect, was nonetheless perfect. And yes, they deserved the gold medal.

I agree. I think they’re my second fav pair. G&G were earlier, at a time of less technical complexity but were excellent at that but also so charming and joyful. But I agree with you, B/S’s/Moskvina’s programs are even better!

Почему это так берёт за душу ? Какое то волшебство !
А ещё в их танцах не паузы, пустых мест, каждое движение, взмах руками, повороты головы, прыжки -отточены, параллельность, синхронность ! И он , главное, после танца , нежно обнимет и обязательно поцелует ее в голову или в лоб, ну она этого достойна!
Какие красивые были программы, а сейчас больше прыжковые, технические. . Смотришь до слёз. И вообще самая лучшая, прекрасная пара! !!!

Gorgeous quality! Even with the mistake i think they derved the gold.
When I was a child or adolescence I was thinking that the canadians should have won but later I think this couple deserved the title.

@@suihan1540 the fight was between Rusia and China at Salt lake and now for Beijing , gladly Shen and Zhao won their gold medal on 2010.
Before I thought the Canadians deserve the Gold but then after re-watching the Canadians performance versus the Russians, I think the Russians deserve the Gold.
Too bad the scandal existed. But I really think even without the scandal, judges will definitely give this Russian pair the highest score. They are total perfection, even if they have a minor mistake, the quality and the technical aspect of the skate is still superior.
2021 а смотришь с таким удовольствием, такач талантливая пара и конечно наш любимый и мудрый тренер вот сочетание, которое и приводило эту пару к победам. Люблю фигурное катание, но нет ни одной пары, которая смогла бы достичь такой любви и никто не может занять из место. И я говорю им браво!!!! Даже спустя 20 лет

It’s funny that this scandal caused the sport to adapt a new judging system because to be honest I feel like Elena and Anton would still win under that system. So many Olympic pair champions ended up winning despite small mistakes in the free
First: Thank you. This program deserves the highest quality to be appreciated in every moment, every year. A treasure of beauty and interpretation, honesty, discipline and charisma. A masterpiece.
Second: I suffered so much when I was a kid and I watch the pairs scandal in Salt Lake City. I didn't understand why existed a fight for a gold medal, I used to watched skating but I never took care of rules and protocols 'til that day. I was that sad for Elena & Anton as Jamie and David. Nobody deserved the episode. An absolute embarrassment.
Third: After watching both programs, who on earth did think Jamie and David deserved gold? Kurt Browning, Sandra Bezic, Scott Hamilton and friends for sure, but for reasons unrelated with skating. Maybe for friendship and for an understandable patriotic feeling but no more.
What Anton and Elena did that night was revolutionary, it changed pairs skating. Look at the speed, high and timing of Elena, very precise and elegant, dynamic and also balletic. She flies on the ice, the edges were insanely beautiful. Only Aljona Savchenko has been able to manage that level of technique, obviously taking perspective of the tech elements they needed to get medals. While Jamie Sale was jumping and crossing the rink, Elena was doing transitions. Transitions before to be required in the rules! But Anton Sikharulidze is.. Ethereal. His posture, lines, edges, his way to spin and lift. He is easily the best male skater of his generation, a very artistic athlete who looked effortless while doing difficult elements as the entries and endings of the death spiral, or the eagle where he keeps the position whitout losing fluidity. Also his spirals were always clean and attractive, amazingly executed. Who was able to think that David Pelletier was on the same league after comparing both skating techniques and the variety of skills displayed by Anton? Also, I can't believe that almost everyone forget that Jamie and David had a double fall during their sp and pretends to bother at Anton for a stumble that was immediately asimilated and didn't interrupt the execution of the double toe loop of his combo. If we compare both mistakes, it is clear. But the gold medal for Elena and Anton implied the highest standards of training, coaching and artistic direction, changing the skating world for the new proposals they made about the content in a program. It wasn't only for a scandal. The natural evolution of a sport, as skating was suffering 18 years ago, needed new methods to determine rankings and that episode showed that 6.0 scale was out for the new exigencies.
Beautifully said! I remember this episode, but this type of higher competition favorable judgement was nothing new to me - I remembered Atlanta gymnastics, when US team got the gold although ALL of the girls fell. Or Sydney olympics when the jumping vault was lowered 5 centimeters before Svetlana Khorkina jump (devastating since she’s considered very tall for a gymnast). But before, cases like these were mostly formally unprovable, whether here with Anton and Elena it was done bluntly “in your face”. Cry me a medal. How unsportsmanlike. And my US colleagues at work thought it was fine, because NBC explained them it was 🤣 When I told them that Anton/Elena performance was head and shoulders above everybody else’s, my colleagues just stared at me with a blank stare. How can you not trust our media. 😉
@@irina8677 how time flies. A lot has definitely changed since then - the US media is in the toilet, no one believes them anymore, US dominance and loud speaker has long waned since Bush and now Trump. That Olympics drama is not likely to play out like that ever again.
@@adj5767 as eloquently said as ever. And my colleagues' eyes are now open, but unfortunately, we may no longer have the privilege to enjoy next Olympic games... Remember the 2012 London opening ceremony? A window into the new orwelian pandemic world order was opened then. For me, it stopped being about pure joy of sports and human achivements.
You said what every fan of this sport thinks. I like to watch how is all now. Team Canada almost nonexisted whereas Team Rusia (Pairs) are favorites for Gold at Beijing and Tamara M. is the coach. The only thing I have to disagree is that the queen of transtions in pairs right now is Weijing Sui. And still the fight for gold is going to be between Rusia and China as it should had been in Salt lake Rusia vs China.

Почему многие говорят, что Антон сделал карьеру на Елене? Они с Марией Петровой тоже были перспективной парой, -- он мог и с ней чемпионом стать. Какой смысл менять одну талантливую партнершу на другую? С Марией было б даже проще, т.к. у нее не было столь серьёзной травмы, после которой ее нужно было поднимать на ноги. Какая тут могла быть выгода для Антона на тот момент? Скорее, он рисковал своей карьерой.
