    Thanks Jim, this is a very helpful video. My deck is in decent shape, so I just measured at the points you suggested with a little combination square. Using the ratcheting wrench made it easy. Side to side was almost dead on, so I left it alone. A big difference in cut quality, thank you!

      @@DIYJIM I have a small yard so mowing just doesn't add to the looks much. Once I move I am sure I will have a lot of mowing to do the roadside alone is over 600 feet . The ducks do lay nice eggs so no big loss having the yard all dirt. At least there are no weeds anywhere!

    My new Cub has adjusting rods on both sides on the back of the deck so both sides can be adjusted. I set my cutting height at 3” Then with a 3” block I slide it under the blade as you did on both sides. On the left side you have to feel when it’s just touching the blade

    My cable that pulls the deck up and down engages on the right before the left, so that the deck on the left is always lower. I checked the position of attachment is equal on both sides and that the cable is also the same and is at the same length as a new cable. What can be done?

    So you have the blade height about 2.5 inches assuming the top block is 1/2 inch but your height gauge handle is at 10. So my question is what do the numbers mean on gauge handle because it doesnt have anything to do with the height of the grass being cut.

    • @DIYJIM
      @DIYJIM  3 місяці тому +1

      You are correct the deck height numbers do not equal the height you are at. So in my video I just show how to level the deck. Thanks for watching

    • @monzsterman
      @monzsterman 3 місяці тому +1

      @DIYJIM I guess the thing to do is after you get it level is measure at different inches and make your own height gauge. Thanks for showing this. I'm more of a visual person. Reading how to do it was confusing.

Mine is mowing at 3" on its highest level and the deck drags a little when I'm loading it on my trailer. I looked up an online pdf of the manual and it says the max cut height is 4 inches. The only thing I can think of is possibly stretched lift cables. They're cheap,but look like theyd be a pain to replace. If anyone ever finds out more,please let me know.

    What about side to side , Ihave a 2016 1042 kw and the deck is uneven side to side not back to front . I have cables that hold the deck in the back on each side and not the rods like others show on here . . Now i will have to check mine i never looked at those . Interesting where is your pulley covers on each side , I am also having a problem with the belt coming off one of the pulleys and the discharge side . The belt seems tight wnen i engage the blades and it is a new belt . I just put on a new drive belt also , both kevlar belts . I use youtube to repair my 2 cub cadets as I am in a rural area and there is only 1 lawmower shop here and he is always backed up . I am 69 year old woman believe it or not . I have 3 + acres so I just bought a 46 inch cub cadet 3 months ago . Now I know about that I will have to look at those brackets . But hubby has 3 surgeries schedualed for monday after his heat attack so hopefully can look at this today or tomorrow . I will save your video . I check tires and oil and air filter often
