Watched this same video you did on John Deere. Both very good videos. Only the information you need....no more, no less. Thanks for not wasting folks time. Really good work and good info. Plain and simple. Jesus bless.
Very clear demo. I was given a used cub cadet with no manual and had to replace drive belt and put on new blades. Had no idea how to level the deck. Your video is one of the most professional that I have viewed.
A level deck with good sharp blades is one of life’s great pleasures with an oil and filter change is just over the top almost up there with four new Continental tires on the family car !!!
Thanks Jim, this is a very helpful video. My deck is in decent shape, so I just measured at the points you suggested with a little combination square. Using the ratcheting wrench made it easy. Side to side was almost dead on, so I left it alone. A big difference in cut quality, thank you!
My new Cub has adjusting rods on both sides on the back of the deck so both sides can be adjusted. I set my cutting height at 3” Then with a 3” block I slide it under the blade as you did on both sides. On the left side you have to feel when it’s just touching the blade
Nice detailed job. I forgot how the blades should be angled to the lawn. My mower has sat under a tarp for over 4 years decaying since the ducks ate my lawn and there is nothing left to mow.
@@DIYJIM I have a small yard so mowing just doesn't add to the looks much. Once I move I am sure I will have a lot of mowing to do the roadside alone is over 600 feet . The ducks do lay nice eggs so no big loss having the yard all dirt. At least there are no weeds anywhere!
Thank you for your helpful video. What I would have found more helpful would be if you raise and lower the deck with the side handle to make sure the travel between the hi and lo notches is correct.
Your video was very helpful! The only thing that it didn’t tell me was how to lower the right side of the deck. I have the mechanism on the left side of the deck adjusted so it’s up as high as it can go, but the right side is still higher.
I don’t know how that would be possible. Is there a way to adjust the right arm lever or cable from pulling up as far or to adjust the left side cable higher
My cable that pulls the deck up and down engages on the right before the left, so that the deck on the left is always lower. I checked the position of attachment is equal on both sides and that the cable is also the same and is at the same length as a new cable. What can be done?
I have that model and I need to know how to adjust the cutting height. When I am in the highest height with the handle the blades are only 3.5". I'd really like to get them to the indicated max of 4".
Had the same question…seems like you can only adjust the left side for some reason. Been trying to figure this out for a month. Keep me posted if you figure out how, please!
@@DIYJIM I bought mine used and I've got it adjusted to where it cuts level, but like others have mentioned its highest setting is to low. Mine is mowing at 3" on its highest level and the deck drags a little when I'm loading it on my trailer. I looked up an online pdf of the manual and it says the max cut height is 4 inches. The only thing I can think of is possibly stretched lift cables. They're cheap, but look like theyd be a pain to replace. If anyone ever finds out more, please let me know.
So you have the blade height about 2.5 inches assuming the top block is 1/2 inch but your height gauge handle is at 10. So my question is what do the numbers mean on gauge handle because it doesnt have anything to do with the height of the grass being cut.
@DIYJIM I guess the thing to do is after you get it level is measure at different inches and make your own height gauge. Thanks for showing this. I'm more of a visual person. Reading how to do it was confusing.
What about side to side , Ihave a 2016 1042 kw and the deck is uneven side to side not back to front . I have cables that hold the deck in the back on each side and not the rods like others show on here . . Now i will have to check mine i never looked at those . Interesting where is your pulley covers on each side , I am also having a problem with the belt coming off one of the pulleys and the discharge side . The belt seems tight wnen i engage the blades and it is a new belt . I just put on a new drive belt also , both kevlar belts . I use youtube to repair my 2 cub cadets as I am in a rural area and there is only 1 lawmower shop here and he is always backed up . I am 69 year old woman believe it or not . I have 3 + acres so I just bought a 46 inch cub cadet 3 months ago . Now I know about that I will have to look at those brackets . But hubby has 3 surgeries schedualed for monday after his heat attack so hopefully can look at this today or tomorrow . I will save your video . I check tires and oil and air filter often
@@DIYJIM thank you and will try to figure this out before then , if not it will be a while after . i ordered the new belt . Be safe and be healthy That is all we can ever ask for
Not for anything, but....I would love to know HOW that lawn mower can start up by itself, without turning the key???? Maybe choking it if needs be.....and then ENGAGING THE BLADES, not to mention...the lawn mower will not even turn over if someone is NOT sitting on that seat! Unless, somewhere, some idiot started it while someone was working on the deck and now..............NOW the whole world has to be told to disconnect the spark plug and throw the key away and everything else..... Are we growing a whole generation of idiots in this country?? Just wondering for a friend

I need to know how to do it for a cub cadet 3205 I can't find anything on line
I would try to Google your manual. See if you can find that on the Internet.
Thanks for the good info. I have a lxt1040 2012 cub. You've really helped me with knowing how to on it.

Thank you for the video Jim. This is something I never thought of. Now I can't wait to play with my mower in a couple of weeks. C'mon summer!
Thanks for watching my friend

Thanks again for another great video tutorial. This will help me with my tractor which is the same as yours.
Awesome, you mean same as my neighbors
thanks, I'll check my deck using this video. my grass is cutting taller on the left side. Hope this is the fix.

Can the side to side adjustment be done while the deck is off the mower for Belt replacement?
No the deck needs to be on
