Huge props to the guy who mixed this. Everything sounds huge especially the drums!!! The 400 unit is one of the tightest bands out right now and the mix really highlights that.

Aww so refreshing, I must express my gratitude, as we all should! I am grateful that such a gifted, creative, artists exists, in today's oceans of extra light gauge, pressed wood, G, C, D, no verse/repetitive sameness. I am grateful this artist chooses to share his wonderfully, heavy, and thought provoking, lyrics, sparsely dotted with such powerful well placed guitar parts, that one must stop the car, truck, or in our case, rental van, in order to fully absorb everything that is actually going on in his recordings and live performances. It's safe to say, 20 plus yrs have passed since a song has moved two or more souls on a trip to goosebumps, then tears, leading to 20 minutes of rewinds. Thank you from a rental van of musicians, at a reststop near Tucumcari.

You sir have written a comment that expressed my thoughts exactly! Jason should be the Springsteen of this generation but they cant move past the beer drinking on my tailgate dreck. Or spending more time in the gym then writing a good song.

Jason Isbell is by far one of the best artists around. I feel like he is still a gem I only know about. Most people still don't know how great he is.

Sadly, most people don't have the time, substance and heart the listen. The music that moves most people these days is a formula sound machine void of a pulse and heartbeat.

Derek, you nailed it man. Could try to string some thought together worthy of Jason and The 400 Unit, but will let your comment do the talking.

Yeah that does seem to be the case for far too many people---not to get too political--but they went for the same sort of thing in our politics, in voting for someone who had what sounded like a good message, but was really just full of hot air and no substance. People want simple things that they don't have to think about too much--pretty much that way with music, food, politics, religion and many other things.....

Jst floored. The songs, the singing AND his guitar playing are just amazing. The band, everything so well done and done with conviction. Beautiful. Thank you Jason. Very happy for his success and new family.

      Couldn't agree more
The end of the song is lifted by the keyboards, then the guitar takes it to places unbelievably wonderful
On the album this ding is sublime, live it's a true masterpiece
Breath-taking and heartfelt lyrics, great accompaniment then the song lifts off to somewhere else
      Magical
Lovely to see Jason's mother and he's a genuinely great artist

My 29 yr old son and his wife love watching Jason any chance they get; 3 yrs ago he got me to first listen to his music; he*s now one of my favorite musicians along with his wife Amanda Shires. I especially love his last 3 albums.I think he is one of the best songwriters of this generationI’ I will finally have the chance to see him live Memorial Day Weekend, What a privilege.

That snare tone come 4:55 is unreal. Great mix by the engineer throughout the whole song. Every time I watch an Isbell performance I'm blown away. Seeing him at Roo this past year was a dream.

Love the perspective that you have on this. Another perspective maybe that the reason things are the way they are is because there’s been multiple ways it’s been done and that’s why it works so well and has stuck. Change for the sake of progress or change isn’t always necessary
